Flip Flops, seriously??

I have been going to the World for fourteen years and I have always worn flip flops. They are comfortable and cool. The only problem I have had was when someone stepped on the back of my flip flop and the top part of the shoe became disconnected. I had to go to a shop in the park and buy another pair of FLIP FLOPS.

I wear flip-flops year round, but I prefer Crocs at the parks.

I just need a little more under my heels or it starts to hurt. If I'll only be in the parks for three or less hours, I'll wear flip-flops.

I did flip flops one year and by day 2 I could hardly walk, my ankle was agony, we nearly had to hire me a wheelchair. We hotfooted it straight to the nearest Nike outlet for a pair of their finest strap on sandals.

Another vote here for the flip flops. We went last summer and I wore mine. I especially appreciated them after getting off of the wet rides or going under many of the cooling sections at the world (ya know..where the water is misting everywhere; I am not sure what they are called). I didn't have to walk around in wet socks and shoes!!! Enjoy your trip!!!!!!! :cool2:

Last time I went down to WDW for a week I packed sneakers and flip flops my feet hurt less wearing the flip flops. And we are the type to be in the parks the whole day.

My GF brought some brand new flip flops on our first trip that she'd never worn. She got some sore feet and terrible blisters on the tops of her feet the very first day. The blisters nearly ruined the rest of the trip because she just couldn't walk for any length of time, despite buying new footwear while there.

I've had no problems wearing flip flops to WDW.

My only caution is to make sure you've actually worn the pair(s) you are bringing. It's not typical to wear flip flops for 12+ hours a day, walking around theme parks in the hot florida sun. So make sure to give them a good try before bringing them or you could sabotage your trip.

I have always worn my simple shoes flipflops in the park and never had a problem (except dirty feet!). Wear whatever you are comfortable in. I wouldn;t wear my cheapy walmart ones but a good walking one like the simples, merrill;s etc.

I live in flip flops too! I thought I was the only one!!

We went at the end of May, I took two pairs of flip flops a pair of generic Crocs and tennis shoes. I ended up wearing the flip flops the whole time!! They were so comfy!

Dh had his Crocs on the whole trip and ended up with the worst blisters!

I also wear sandals whenever the temperature gets over 70, but I would never wear them when I knew I was going to be walking all day. I tried it once and never again--it wasn't just my feet that were sore, it was my legs, my knees, and it gave me a flair-up of shin-splints (runners fatigue). For all of you that think shoes are too hot, try out a nice pair of running shoes (I wear Asics or Saucony) most are super lightweight and have plenty of venting to get rid of heat. I also only wear 100% cotton socks--those "sweat wicking" ones are way too hot. Admittedly, we are a bit commando and will easily walk 10-15 miles on a slow day--under that strain, running shoes are the only way to go.

Also, nobody has mentioned the ONE reason people from the north should not wear sandals in Florida--sunburned feet! I don't know if the rest of you just slather your feet in sunscreen, but anytime I go out in sandals on a sunny day, I'm just asking for fried feet by suppertime.

I alternate between sneakers and my Nike flip flops! They are so comfy, no blisters and it gives my feet a day to air out some. I have never had a problem in the Nike flip flops with sore feet! For me, they are the best!

The only thing that got me out of 15 years of WDW flip-wearing was Crocs. Now I alternate between the two.

Here's the thing, IMO - with the exception of Epcot, WDW isn't so much a ton of walking as a ton of standing. I run and walk regularly and have the best sneakers I can afford for that. But they're no good for standing all day and, therefore, kill my feet at WDW. Squishy flips and Crocs, on the other hand, are positively dreamy for standing!:cloud9:

I guess I'm going to go against the grain here. I wear flip flops ALL the time in the summer (even to work if I can sneak it by), but it's either the way the straps hit my feet, or the heat, or the amount of walking, but I can't wear them to the parks because I always end up with blisters. I don't know why because these are all flip flops that are broken in. So, it's possible that if you try it, you'll be fine. But I would suggest bringing another pair of shoes that you know will be comfortable (i.e., Crocs, sneakers), just in case you do start to get blisters.

These are the Reefs that I wear. If you look on their website, they are called "Sandy" and they come in all different colors. They are SOO comfy! Make sure you wear flips with a strap like this and NOT a plastic or leather strap. I imagine that's what will give you blisters.

I wore my flip flops all week last year.

This time I'll switch between flip flops and crocs because since I bought those darn crocs I can't take 'em off.

Love my Reef flip flops, I got the ones without the annoying toe thong.

Okay, in the summer I live in flip flops....(and I'm a shoe woman)...I love shoes, I buy shoes, I have shoes in boxes I have never worn because they are beautiful, but not functional...but in the summer I love flip flops, all kinds from the $2 Wal-Mart special to Rocket Dogs, Nike, etc....

All I hear is not to wear flip flops to the parks....seriously, why? Are there other usual flip flop wearer's that have worn them to the parks and had issues? Any that have been okay?

Please advise...:goodvibes

Diehard flip flopper here!!! I wear them to the parks all the time. My DH insists that I am out of my mind. I cannot wear sneakers. I feel like I am being squeezed to death in them.I have never had a problem. In fact, if I could go barefoot I'd feel even better!

I made a mistake, for me, and wore flip flops one two week vacation. No arch support=serious foot problems for me (plantar fasciitis). Of course that is not what will happen to everyone, just my issue--otherwise I'd be out there in flip flops as well. I have a pair of Crocs athens and they provide a bit of arch support, enough for me to romp around the back yard or run to the store, but not enough for me to risk the parks all week for two weeks!
