Flip Flops, seriously??

I wear flip flops in WDW but I have some with a nice wedge on them so I am not walking on my flat feet...that really does make a huge difference. Make sure you get a pair that will not slide on the wet pavement...when it rains the ground gets super slippery...you dont want to take a tumble

Okay, in the summer I live in flip flops....(and I'm a shoe woman)...I love shoes, I buy shoes, I have shoes in boxes I have never worn because they are beautiful, but not functional...but in the summer I love flip flops, all kinds from the $2 Wal-Mart special to Rocket Dogs, Nike, etc....

All I hear is not to wear flip flops to the parks....seriously, why? Are there other usual flip flop wearer's that have worn them to the parks and had issues? Any that have been okay?

Please advise...:goodvibes

For Heavans sake...I do not wear anything BUT flip flops in the summer...no closed toed shoes go on my feet when it is hot...if you are used to wearing them, and it sounds like you are, do not worry at all. I took 3 pair with me in May along with my Teva strap-on sandals...I wore my flip flops all but one day...I wore my tevas of course that day...the evening that I wore my tevas I ended up with sore legs, but not the others. I would not wear the cheap, thin soled flip flops though. I think mine were Columbia and another one called Rafters that I bought at a sporting goods store (I really like the Rafters...very soft straps!)...all have good arches and "Kooshy" insoles...I think this plays a big role in if you will have any issues or not. As far as having problems on rides...I did not have any at all. On Soarin' I took them off and put them in the pouch under the seat along with my bag...I also saw some take them off and leave them on the floor under their seat...when you "land" you are in exactly the same place you "took-off" so it is not a big deal. Oh...another thing...make sure that they have soft straps...one pair of mine have leather trim on the edge of the straps and even though I had worn them a lot and they were what I considered "broken-in" I ended up with the right one rubbing a place on the inside of my foot...I guess it was all of the walking..more than usual in one day (of course...I was at WDW!)...my Rafters, on the other hand, were brand new and I did not have any trouble...I think I wore them probably 5 or 6 of the 8 days we were there. Below is a link to show you the exact style that I had..they were called Tsunami Crest Tropical Weave...I chose the "chocolate" color (that is show on this page...6th shoe down) http://www.raftersfootwear.com/static_catalog/womens-rafters-footwear.html
I hope this helps...and again...don't worry...those telling you not to wear them to the parks are probably not dedicated flip-flop wearers like you and I :rotfl: HAVE FUN!!

All I wear now are Clarks Shoes and I just bought a pair of Clarks Flip Flops and they are great!!!!! They will be what I wear most of the time on my trip in Aug. and I really don't even like Flip Flops.........but these are Great!!!!! Both of my DD's will be wearing either flip flops or Crocs!!!!

I only wore my Crocs flip flops and I was the only one out of our group that didn't have sore feet or blisters!

Also, another advantage, is that after the water rides I just slipped a pair of cheap flippers into my bag and then it was right back into my Crocs (no need to deal with squishy shoes or socks for me!)

I am a flip flop wearer year round (even in snow!). I wouldn't suggest cheap flip flops for a Disney trip but something with a support is awesome...

I live in my Olukai flip flops. They are completely worth the money!!!

I love flip flops and wear them all summer long, but I can't wear them non-stop at WDW. I wear my older pair of running shoes in the parks and will have sandals and flops in the evenings or non-park days. I think it's also important to change out shoes at least once a day, more if possible, and to only wear shoes that are well broken in. I've never had a blister or sore legs at WDW.

Not entirely true, I've got at least 3 pairs of flip flops that do have arch support.

I have plain ole' Dr. Scholl's leather flip flop sandals from Wal-Mart. Paid only $18 for them and I've had them for 3 years. They are still "oh-so-comfy" and have been through about 45 days of Disney so far with no problems. They have great arch support and are incredibly easy on the feet. It's all a matter of what you get used to. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I wear the $2.50 old navy flip flops about 10 months out of the year. I have done Disney in them before and done fine. But I recently went to Vegas and walked the WHOLE strip back and forth with several side trips, in them and for some reason they killed my feet. I am a croc wearer sometimes. I wore them to Dollywood and seemed to do good with them there. I think I am going to take both my crocs and flip flops and just see how I do.

My Teva Mush flip flops are the ultimate vacation shoe! I wear them everywhere I go!
I could not however, wear the cheap thin soled flip flops you see at Target or Wal Mart for very long without having some serious ankle issues. Just not enough support.
Get some good ones and you should be fine.

I've heard people say not to wear flipflops, so I never wore em' to Disney until this year! I brought them and a pair of those hideous crocs which I hate...1st day I wore the crocs, I had a blister or 2, and they weren't all WOW. So the second day I wore flipflops and I thought they were awesome! :dancer: So comfy, no blisters, and cute!

Ohh yah and I forgot to add they weren't any special pair of Flip flops that did it for me, they were just a simple pair of Charlotte Russe flip flops. :-)

I live in my flip flops during the summer as well. I don't see the big deal as long as they are comfortable.

I would wear them to a park.
I would wear them in the dark.
I would wear them on a plane.
I would wear them in the rain.
I love my flip flops - you can see!
And I will wear them at Disney.

Corny? Yes!

:lmao: :rolleyes1

That was funny! I always wear my Reef flip flops (the cloth thong kind-not plastic) I have afew different pairs. I hate wearing tennis shoes to the parks and getting soaked in the rain. I haven't gotten blisters yet. Just make sure they are broken in.

I'd always worn sneakers at Disney, but now I wear flip-flops (rubbah slippah) ALL THE TIME, ALL YEAR LONG. Like another poster, I only wear sneakers when exercising, and I only wear other shoes (heels, etc.) while at work. I only have them on in the physical office, I wear my slippers to/from the car, all day on long weekend days, days when I do a lot of walking. I love it, my feet are so comfortable.

For my next trip, I'm going to wear my slippers, since that's what my foot is comfortable in now. I wear Nike ones. I say Wear 'Em and don't look back!

I wore Old Navy wedge flip flops for my entire trip a few weeks ago. No problems at all except for the day we went to Sea World. They have these tile-like pavers in some areas and I took a small tumble in the pouring rain. On the other hand they helped keep my feet nice and cool. I recommend them only on dry days however.

I just got back from 6 days in the World. 5 of those days I wore my Croc Capri flip flops and 1 day I wore sneakers. Guess which day my feet hurt? Yep. The day I work sneakers, I had some hurtin' puppies by dinnertime.

DD9 has the Adidas flip flops with the memory foam and she wore those for 6 days and also had no problems.

I used to be able to wear cheap flip flops with no problems, but as I have gotten older  I find I need more support.

All I ever wear is flip-flops, and if your feet are used to them all the time, there is NO PROBLEM. Just remember to lather up the sunscreen on your feet before going out into the hot sun!! I have never had a problem with blisters on broken in flip flops. If they were new, and I'd been sweating, then the straps will iritate me, but ultimately, not a problem..

I have worn them in the parks. My only issues with wearing them to Disney are the people who are in such a darn hurry that they have to step on the back of my heels to get where they are going.

These are the Reefs that I wear. If you look on their website, they are called "Sandy" and they come in all different colors. They are SOO comfy! Make sure you wear flips with a strap like this and NOT a plastic or leather strap. I imagine that's what will give you blisters.

I own a pair of these and I LOVE them. Guess where I bought them? Uh huh, that's right....in WDW. I found them at the Contemporary Resort Gift Shop.

I also am a flip-flop person. I have ones from JCrew, reef, teva, and also $4 Target ones. Today I went to Nordstrom's Department Store to try on a pair of Haviana's as I have heard that they are like walking on a cloud. I put them on and they felt like a board. Not what I expected. I have to say that my $4 Target flip flops are my most comfortable ones. Do the Haviana's break in or something? I didn't see the attraction. :sad2:
