Flip flops at the Yachtsman?

We have dinner reservations at the Yachtsman on our arrival day and since we can't be sure our luggage will arrive at our room in time I am packing our clothes for dinner in my carry on. I'd prefer not to pack three pairs of shoes as well so would we be OK with flip flops and/or Crocs? I'm wearing a sundress and DH & DS are wearing khaki shorts and collared shirts so otherwise we will be properly dressed. Thx.

I've never been to the Yachtsman, but I have been to Cali Grill several times. Even wearing flip flops, you will look like a member of the royal family compared to some of the outfits I've seen in there. :sunny:
I'm from the South, and part of the Summer Uniform is flip flops with EVERYTHING. I have dressy flip flops, beach flip flops, well...you get the idea. I think that you will all look terrific and fit right in.

Thanks, I pretty much live in flop flops during the summer too. I'm wearing flip flops on the plane because it's easier than taking off socks and sneakers at the checkpoint so I would just rather keep the flop flops on for dinner too - less to carry.

You will be totally fine in flip flops. That's all I bring on our trips and there are lots of people who will come to dinner in regular park clothes compared to nicer attire. I usually wear a sundress and flip flops and I felt like I fit right in :)

Just make sure you've had a recent pedicure....and that includes the MEN!
I never go out without getting my toes did. Thankfully my DH takes care of his feet too. He doesn't do the pedicures but he cleans and trims his nails regularly.

You walk around the park in flip flops? I was thinking of doing that but I think my feet would be killing me by the end of the day.

When we were there during Xmas it was crazy hot. I mostly wore boat shoes and sneakers. Flip Flops will definitely work. As someone mentioned - many people don't even dress up anymore. Personally, I like to look nice when I'm going out for a nice steak (or signature) dinner. But, believe me, if it's 90+ degrees out I'm finding some line between comfortability and appropriateness.

My rule of thumb: if it's too hot outside for pants and a long-sleeve shirt, dress the way you would for a nice golf course (non-cargo style shorts, neat polo, etc.)

Are there any restaurants at Disney World where you do actually have to observe some kind of dress code (either by policy or just cultural norms)?

I'm assuming Victoria & Alberts is one of those fancy places that might require a dinner jacket or something like that. I probably won't want to go there in 90+ heat and humidity unless I'm staying at the GF hotel and don't have to step outside.

From pretty much everything I've read and been told, V&A is the only restaurant that has a required dress code and enforces it. Resort restaurants have a suggested dress code but as long as you don't wear any of the items that they expressly forbid (swimsuits, saggy pants, obscene/graphic t-shirts, baseball caps, etc.) they won't give you a problem and then park restaurants expect that some customers will be coming in whatever they wore to the park that day and really have no dress code except for the aforementioned forbidden items.

I agree with everyone else that you will be fine wearing flip flops :).

I DO! I have multiple pairs of croc flip flops and can walk miles miles in them!

Me too! I find flip flops to be very comfortable. I wear them every day and only put them away when temps dip below 40  (although they are never out of reach as I never know when a nice day might come along, even during winter months....lol). I hate when it gets in the 20s-30s and I have to break out the socks/shoes :rotfl::rotfl:.

Personally, I absolutely dislike flip flops and sandals of any sort. However, if I was to be dining at Yachtsman's, I'd be looking at my dining companion, the menu, the wine list, and my food rather than at what people were wearing on their feet.

I used to be able to just do Old Navy flip flops in the parks but my feet cant handle those anymore LOL! (ugh the perks of getting old) This time around I'm bringing Croc flip flops and Sketchers yoga mat flip flops. They're way more supportive and my feet are ok after hours of walking in them.

Flip flps at the Yachtsman...not cool. It's no V&A but it's an upscale restaurant. The dress code is business casual. I don't know of anyone who would wear lip flops t a professional business event. But that's just me.

The Yachtsman is an upscale restaurant. While not V&A, it does have a dress code which is considered business casual. I don't know of too many people who wear flip flops to that kind of venue. I would not. It's also a favorite of a lot of celebrities. We dined next to Mariah Carey a few years ago. I would bring the better shoes. When you make your reservation, you are required to agree to adhere to the dress code before you can get the reservation confirmation number. While it does not mention footwear, I think it suggests discretion.

Dress Code
At this Signature Dining experience, Guests are asked to adhere to the dress code.

Men may wear khakis, slacks, jeans or dress shorts and collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.

Women may wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses, jeans or dress shorts.

Not permitted are tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.

I normally wouldn't wear flip flops to a nice restaurant but I just didn't want to lug more stuff in my carry-on. I fixed the problem though by changing my YM reservation to later in the week on one of our no park days so we can dress properly. We'll just eat wherever on arrival day - that will also give us time in the pool before dinner.

Not being snobbish but I agree about not looking cool wearing flip flops, but then again that's just my personal opinion...We love to dine out at signature restaurants at WDW and getting dressed up a little adds to our magical evening, ( we don't dine out much back home ) So any excuse to put on a nice short sleeve shirt and dress shorts with a pair of comfy sandals makes me a happy bunny...
