Flip flops at the Yachtsman?

The Yachtsman is an upscale restaurant. While not V&A, it does have a dress code which is considered business casual. I don't know of too many people who wear flip flops to that kind of venue. I would not. It's also a favorite of a lot of celebrities. We dined next to Mariah Carey a few years ago. I would bring the better shoes. When you make your reservation, you are required to agree to adhere to the dress code before you can get the reservation confirmation number. While it does not mention footwear, I think it suggests discretion.

Dress Code
At this Signature Dining experience, Guests are asked to adhere to the dress code.

Men may wear khakis, slacks, jeans or dress shorts and collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.

Women may wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses, jeans or dress shorts.

Not permitted are tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.

Exactly where on that list does it say that flip flops are not permitted?

This is a vacation resort restaurant., not a high end dining establishment in a major city. Resort casual is the most that is expected. There is nothing inappropriate about wearing sandals or flip flops ( which are a type of sandal). While I think the cheap plastic Walmart or Old Navy flip flops might be reserved for the pool, there are lots of dressier flip flops that look as nice as some shoes I've seen there.

The WDW signatures have a very relaxed dress code for a reason. Should you wish to dress more formally, you are certainly free to do so. But it is inappropriate to impose your own dress preferences on other guests.

I always think it is silly that people draw the line at flip flops. So a woman could be in a very nice Lilly Pulitzer sun dress but heaven forbid she wear a nice pair of flip flops or she is unwelcome at the establishment. I have a pair of "dress" sandals that I will wear out unless open toed shoes are forbidden out right. The only difference between them and a pair of nicer flip flops is they have an ankle strap. I wouldn't wear a pair of old holey Old Navey flip flops to Yachtsman but a nice pair of leather or fake leather ones most definitely.

That list says nothing about footwear. And business casual is a lot different than resort casual. Also, each business which has a business casual dress policy has a different one so views on even that will be different.

Last time I ate at a signature (it was Citricos in late 2014), the couple checking in ahead of us had on tanks with running shorts (the really short kind) and those running shoes that have the individual toes. Plus fannypacks. After seeing that, I would say whatever shoes you want to wear with your cute sundress will be fine!

Flip flops will be fine. I've eaten there many times. Many guests wear flip flops( with sundresses, capris, and slacks). You'll fit right in. Enjoy the meal. It's one of my favorites. Yum!

When DH and I travel, wondering if your luggage is going to get to you before you head out to the pool, or dinner or to the meet and greet is a worry. So I always pack in the carry on, swimsuits, cover ups, and clothes for dinner, and PJ's and clothes for the next day. Especially when changing planes. This way I am covered... Also if kiddos have a favorite stuffed aminal to sleep with make sure its in your carry on.

No one will even be looking at your feet at YSH.

Flip flops are perfectly fine.

As far as the dress "code" you are ASKED to adhere to it--you are not REQUIRED to.

If you decide not to, that's why there is that very short list of what is actually not permitted in the restaurant.
