Hi All :)

Just a quickie,

Going to book flights today WOOOOOHOOOOOO

And Im just looking for a little advice, Im looking at flying with aerlingus (Dublin to London) and virgin (london to Orlando) and the price of the flights is better than expected at the moment €587pp (£462pp for both flights).

My only concern is that on the return journey, the connection time is 1hour 20mins from landing in London to catching the flight to Dublin and if there was any delay in leaving Orlando it leaves us short time wise to get the aer lingus flight home to Dublin?? Does any one have any experience with flight connection times, should we be ok with 1hour 20mins???

NOW, there is another flight for the same price but on the way back it has a stop over of 4 hours 20mins in London which seems a bit much after an 8 hourish flight from Orlando with the Disney blues.......?
Soooooooo confused lol any help really appreciated :confused3:confused3:confused3
Ps: I hope I made some sense lol

don't know about connection time

but what about flying direct from DUB ?

don't know about your dates but I just made a simulation on kayak.co.uk

thursday 20 june -> tuesday 2 july
dublin to orlando DIRECT on united (operated by aer lingus) is at £485pp

if you're dates are somewhat flexible, you might be able to fly direct for the same price, without having to worry about the connection

Thanks a million for your reply, unfortunately my dates aren't flexible at all as mum has the dates booked off from work and also we have booked our accommodation and got the DDP and the $200 gift card etc with WDTC.
So its looking like flying with the combination I have at the moment, which I am happy about as last time I went to Orlando I did the same and was delighted I flew with Virgin as they were great at the time (2008) hopefully they are still as good next year :)

All booked with virgin?

When i used to work for them the min connection time i would give anyone was 90 mins.

If its all booked wth the same airline bags will be through checked so you wnt have to worry about picking them up and checking them in

You will need to clear immigration at LGW and that would be my worry - it took us 90 mins in June. I would want at least 2 hours to make sure.

Could you book a airport lounge to hangout in while waiting?

u dont need to clear immigration in lgw u do it in orlando traveling from londen only when flying from dublin to orlando u clear immigrations in dubin already

no, she's talking about the flight back to the UK

MCO-LGW-DUB

she'll need to clear UK immigration to re-enter the UK after leaving the USA, but will use the UK residents lines, so should be pretty quick
the 1h20min is for the connection at Gatwick to catch her flight to Dublin on the way home

nope she will clear then in dublin u are in transit dont it once true gatwick and once true manchester and both times i did not go true customs until i was in amsterdam

At LGW using the UK line in June it took us over an hour from the inbound Virgin flight from MCO. :scared1:

As long as you book on a through ticket you should be ok, as even if you miss the the first flight back to DUB, the airline have the obligation to get you on the next available flight, so you would then be put on the later flight.

You will need to go through immigration in London, if u have your bags checked all the way through then u should be OK. If you have 2 separate bookings then I think you will struggle

An up date on flights guys!!!!

Just booked flight OMG OMG OMG OMG SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED YAY :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::dance3: June 21st next year BRING IT ON wooohooooo lol ok excitement over......
Got both flights, for €505pp (£397) :cheer2:delighted with that !!
Booked with separate airlines SO being cautious I chose the flight with the 4 hourish stop over! because we will have to recheck in and all that jazz! Thank you so much for all your advice you guys are awesome :)

Yay for you booking! :yay:

I just checked our times - we have 2hrs 20 in London between flights going and 5 hours between flights coming back

All done through BA so I am guess there is a reason for the longer connection time coming back as Ldn-Edi flights are pretty frequent - I think you have done the right thing going for the longer connection & saving yourself any stress

OP, who did you book through. The best I can get london - orlando with Virgin is £600.10 per person for those same dates
