Just wanted to let you all know that we recently returned from our land/sea trip. We opted not to use the Disney transfers, and instead booked with FL Tours. I have to say Andy was as accomodating and helpful as anyone could be!!! We needed to change our pick up times due to airline changes and he said "no problem" We changed our pick up tome from the poly to go to PC and again, he said "no problem" Same thing with pick up from PC to go back to the Swan. In fact, for our original pickup he had a town car (there were only 4 of us). However, for the trip to the port and back, he upgraded us to a very clean, new conversion van, so the kids could watch a movie on the way to the port.

I simply cannot say enough about their service and courteous drivers, inlcuding Andy himself. I would recommend them to anyone and will certainly use them again!!!!

Eileen, your experience sounds alot like ours. We also had Andy, who was very accomodating. He had us to port early, and as like you, we had requested a towncar and he showed up with a Conversion Van. With the same reasoning, that since we requested booster seats, he thought we'd be more comfortable in the van and then the kids could watch a movie. On the way home we had time before our flight out, so he arranged for us to drop our luggage off at the airport and had another car come pick us up and take us to the nearest mall for a few hours the pick us back up and take us back to the airport. They were very accomodating! I have and definitely will use them again for our trips!

Just curious, why did you decide against using the Disney transfer that is "included" in the cost of the cruise ? I am contemplating a cruise in May and was told (by the travel agent) to use Disney transportation to/from the ship ?

The transfers are not included in the price of the cruise unless you have the TA figure them in. It is about $49.00 each if I remember correctly for the Disney bus transfers. The bus is all right but I think we will be going a different way this time as there are alot more options in using a towncar service.

patches-4 you are correct, they are $49.00 per person. We opted not to get them, we're flying in the night before the cruise and renting a car to drive to the port (we'll be staying at the Radisson). It was cheaper to rent a car than it was to purchase the transfers.

Is it just a cost factor, or is it a service (long waits etc) factor
also ?

Hmm, $49 from a Disney resort to the port ? No one mentioned thatn before.

My reason is because we're flying in the night before the cruise. If we used the Disney tranfers, we'd have to say in a hotel around the airport and then catch a shuttle back to the airport the next morning to catch the bus to the port. Cost is secondary. The total for the transfers for my family would be $196.00. If we rent a car to drive to the port the night we arrive, it's only going to cost me around $30-50. We'll also rent a car after the cruise to get back to the Orlando area, again paying only $30-50. For a total of only $100.

Got it, thanks.

We will be staying in the park prior to the cruise, a rental car
or towncar service might be what I need if my return flight
time is tight.

Can't think of a better way to spend a snowy day then talk
about Disney. Hope your side of the county is making out
better than mine.

Thanks again.

:D Glad I could help explain.

LOL...well NJRon, unfortunately for me...I'm in NJ with you ;) enjoying  all of this wonderful snow! All I can say is, thank goodness it's Friday!

Not to mention if you use Disney Transfers you are basically at the mercy of the schedule by Disney instead of deciding when you want to go wherever. They have a hotel schedule so depending on where you are staying depends on what time you leave for the port. To me I want to get there when I want to get there not when Disney dictates that I have to be in the lobby to go. Also costwise at least for my family of 5 it is cheaper to get a car service than to use Disney transfers AND we get a grocery stop and personalized service. True the Disney transfers show a video on the way to the port but you are also part of a herd of cattle.

Just my .02
