This has been in the news several times in the past few month where airlines and different hotels have made booking error. And all them have honered the price that was quoted. Even Expedia.com has a commercial on tv if they make an error they will still honor it. So once again what are we out here?? YOu can cancel your room up to 7 days before your arrival to cancel and you will receive your full refund of deposit.

If I remember my college business law classes correctly, this would be considered a contract. Once a payment has been made, the offer has been accepted, and the contract is binding.

With this internet booking policy, for your one night deposit you must cancel 46 days prior to arrival.

What dis the breakdown state on your page? I get this

Per Night Room Price $144.00

Room Total $576.00

Tax -$468.48

Grand Total $107.52

Deposit $26.88

SO I am agreeing to PAY $144 a night and the taxes are calculated incorrectly which IMHO they can and will correct. Hope I am wrong.

Yes, mine says the same thing...but what you have left off was the
Balance due at arrival $80.64
Isn't that what they are telling us to pay??? They cannot just go & correct an error they made without informing us. If and when they do correct it & inform us, we all have a right to cancel regardless of how many days out since there was an error in their contract that they drew up & accepted our money for. And to be honest, you don't know where the error is until you hit the submit button when you are half way thru the booking process. Yes, you didn't have to continue once you saw the tax & room rate. However when you scroll all the way down in the fine print it shows:

† Offered room rates include tax, but do not include any costs for selected room options

then if you scroll back up to the top where it gives you the total it says:

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort $107.52†

and looking at both, they each have the † meaning that total is including tax.

I once booked a DCL cruise. The taxes increased after I booked AND paid deposit. I had to pay the increase in the taxes.


I see this as being the same thing, I am agreeing to pay $144 a night. If taxes change upwards, I will have to pay the increase. If taxes lower I expect to get the lower tax rate.

But the bottomline is - I am agreeing to pay $144 a night.

The room rate is not computed correctly either. When I booked my room during the peak season it should have showed it as 209 a night. My email said I am paying 800 for the room versus 1045. It's clearly showing that Disney is at fault and according to some friends that are lawyers and the lady who stated that it would be a breach seems to be on to something. You have come into a contract with Disney for specific goods and they state the total that you owe them for the remainder of the goods. They have also charged your c/c for those goods which means they have accepted the offer.
If I don't get the deal then I will be fine with it but will be very dissapointed.

Usair honored 7 of my rountrip tickets that I purchased for 2 dollars a piece this summer. If they would honor it and their almost bk so why wouldn't disney do the honorable thing and accept it?

Oh and if you want to try something call the phone number in your email to pay the remainder of the balance. Once you are paid in full then they cannot use the excuse that the taxes increased.

I am not taking WDW's side, I just hope people aren;'t getting hopes up, telling kids they are going because of the rates available.

If the rate says $55.00 per night they should honor it, but if the taxes are obviously a negative in error, no person in their right mind should complain if they correct it.

Then again, whats going on could be limited to say 50 rooms or so and in that case, maybe they will just honor the rates (sometimes i forget that the whole world is not aware of this board)

So who is getting fired at Disney IT on Monday? This is a screwup beyond belief.

Yeah I believe there are going to be openings in the IT section of WDW. Just like the people that got fired for the USair mess up. This is a touchy mess up and just pray for the honoring and if not, I tried.

I'll say this... an airline miscalculated my tax a few years ago and made me pay it before they would let me on the plane. Legally I did not have a leg to stand on, the tax is paid by the consumer and I owed it. (Ask you lawyer friends... if the tax on the hotel goes up between your booking and stay guess what??? you owe!)

Did the taxes increase or was it an error then they corrected it? That could be the difference. This isn't that the tax is being raised it is a matter of it being corrected due to an error on Disney's part.

Wel - I too, just went ahead and booked over thanksgiving...will see what happens and if the honor it or send us back to the actual room price!

Well, time will tell if they honor these reservations or not. I was able to book CBR for 5 nights over Thanksgiving week. I played around trying different resorts and found that it worked for all the mods but not the deluxes. POFQ worked for 3 of my dates but not all 5. (No rooms avail. it said) Seemed like CSR and CBR came up no matter what dates I put in during Thanksgiving week.

The mistake was in the tax total, but it was more than just simply subtracting tax rather than adding it. The taxes listed were totally out of whack, like $400 + dollars and then it was subtracted.

I remember last year a hotel in the Orlando area had a similar problem with a glitch in their booking program, giving rooms out at pennies a night. They honored those that were booked, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that a big corporation like Disney will honor these reservations too.


Edited to add: In addition to the confirmation page and # I got after paying my deposit, I just got an e-mail confirming my reservation. Fingers officially crossed now.

He stated it was clearly a disney mistake and for the company not to honor it would be foolish. Oh yeah I went ahead and payed completely for my stay so the taxes can't increase. Im glad to be a FL resident today!!!!!

On the terms and conditions it states that the room price is the only thing guaranteed. For the poster who had $55 quoted as the room price that is good news. For the rest of us who had the real price quoted and calculated correctly then it doesn't look good. For me, the room price was $141 per night, x 5 nights, $705. They then subtracted over $500 in tax, which is clearly the error. To book I had to check off my agreement that only the room price is quaranteed, and there was the other little line that said any of the terms and agreements were subject to change.

My contact gave me this example: You are decorating your home and you buy the furniture room by room. The decorator gets you to approve the couch at $2000, the chair at $500, etc. She lists the furniture item by item with the price clearly marked. Total is $5000.00. The tax would then be $300.00 (in FL). If she accidently subtracted $3000.00 for the tax instead of adding $300.00 you would still owe the $5000.00 for the furniture since you already agreed to pay for it.

It should be interesting to see what happens! The doubters at my house keep saying if it is too good to be true than it usually is. Then a lot of us will be doing this:
