Fl Resident Rate Glitch

How long has this been going on? I can't believe Disney hasn't caught it yet!

I hope they honor the rates for all of you that got them.

I'm sure alot of you booked trips you weren't planning on, so if they honor the rate, you go and of course spend money, if they don't, you don't go and won't spend anything!

And, just curious, I thought it was illegal not to honor a price once charged to your credit card or paid for? -- I can see not honoring it if it was only held and not paid for, but I THOUGHT once the company/business took money, even just a deposit, they were bound to the price shown or agreed upon?

Oh, I think they will most certainly honor the room rate. I do not think they will leave the taxes in the negative though.

the room rate is correct. it is the tax in error. I think disney will charge the correct room rate and tell the customers that the tax was in error.

I doubt they will honor it,since regardless of the Disney error they still have to pay the taxes to the government.

From the website:

All room reservations and transactions are made and consummated in the State of Florida. Room reservations and transactions and these Terms and Conditions for Room-Only Reservations shall be governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
These Terms and Conditions for Room-Only Reservations are subject to change by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online without notice

So, they could easily correct this. I hope for everyone that they do not, but I wouldn;t count on the rate.

You are probably right that they won't honor it.....but I remember when NY does the tax free week and sometimes the computers weren't reprogrammed after it ended and they would honor their mistake and not charge you the tax.

I booked CBR, 5 nights, $57.00 total for Thanksgiving week!

The room rate on the confirmed reservations is correct, as someone stated (the Taxes is the thing that is miscalculated). I just spoke with a family member who is a Florida attorney and they read the confirmation terms and said when you book you are confirming acceptance of the "room rate" quoted, which was between $141 and 180 per night (depending on dates). Accepting a $141 room rate quote means, according to him, that you are aware of this price. He was adamant that we will receive a letter stating the taxes were miscalculated. He states this letter will detail our acceptance of the "per night room charge" (which you have to check in order to book) and that the total price will be recalculated and enforced. He thought it was hilarious that I was hopeful about the discount.... since the only guarentee on the website is that "the room rate is guaranteed upon deposit". :confused3

Hmmmm, I am very tempted to book this. If they decide to not honor the rate, we can just cancel, can't we?

Worse case, I guess would be that you lose your deposit. Best case, is that you get a room for a great price.

Has this ever happened before with Disney reservations?

If they don't honor it, they don't honor it. I wasn't planning to go over thanksgiving anyway but figured what the heck, we can try. If they honor the amount they gave me, they will have me spending money on food and stuff in their parks those days, if they don't, they won't. I am fine with it either way.

I don't see how they can keep our deposits if they change the terms of what they quoted us and accepted. If they cancel it, they should refund all the deposits.

The room rate is NOT correct on my reservation. My rate for 5 nights is $57.00 total for all 5 nights! The room rate and the tax are miscalculated.

I did book it. I am not sure if I will use it, because I feel a bit guilty about it, but I booked it.
You shouldn't feel guilty about it, you didn't make the error, Disney did. They make errors in their favor too. Look what just happened to Luvmickey28 (I think that was OP) she called & a very nice CM gave her a special deal since there were no discounts around her stay.... when she got off the phone, that special rate was more than rack rate! She had to call a supervisor to have everything corrected. If you really feel that bad, just cancel your ressie. They have a 46 day refund policy.

hEY IM GLAD YOU GUYS ARE LOVING THIS THIS MISTAKE AND YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERYTHING YOU CAN BUT FOR THOSE OF US CAST MEMBERS THAT MEAN WE LOOSE MONEY

A friend of mine who booked CS last night has now decided that she wanted CBR since that is now coming up for her dates as well. She went in, booked it, but is paying just a little more since it is the prefered room site. She then called Disney to cancel her other one. The CM asked her why she decided to cancel & she told him that she decided to book at CBR instead. He said that would be no problem to cancel her ressie. He gave her a confimation number & told her that the deposit will be credited back to her card. Now for him to have done that, he had to have seen the deposit. All the CM's now that the deposit must be at least one nights stay. He never mentioned anything to her about anything being incorrect.

Did you or can you ask him about the legality of it when it states:
Grand Total: $107.52
Dep Rec'd $26.88
Balance Due At Arrival $80.64

If it didn't say that, as I said before, then I would think they can hold us liable for the room rate. However, the way it states the room rate, it says Balance Due at Arrival which should be just as binding as a room rate quote. That is all the room rate is, it's a quote. They aren't saying that is what is due.... at least that is the way I would take it. Ask your friend what he thinks.....

With internet bookings, CRO can't see the full total on room only.
What do they see? They must see a deposit. The deposit has never been anything less than a one night stay. Therefore if my dep is $26.88 shouldn't they realize that would be the room rate? Or do I not make any sense???

What dis the breakdown state on your page? I get this

Per Night Room Price $144.00

Room Total $576.00

Tax -$468.48

Grand Total $107.52

Deposit $26.88

SO I am agreeing to PAY $144 a night and the taxes are calculated incorrectly which IMHO they can and will correct. Hope I am wrong.

Well the fact of the matter is that for those who booked the rooms have confirmed reservations. For Disney to not accept the reservations would be foolish due to the fact that they are getting people to come during value season and that the average family will spend a good amount of money down there. Disney will not lose money over this if they honor it and will publicly take some negative feeback through the media if they don't. Whats the better news article? Disney honoring the deal and having people rave about their experience or Disney not and having a bunch of unhappy people talking about breach of contracts and all that good jazz.

Rex

Well if the taxes are done incorrectly then its the fault of the State of Florida and not ours. If I read the laws correctly then we have the right to wage a complaint to the Attorney General however I can only laugh when I think about sending an email stating Disney won't honor my 10 dollar a night moderate resort room. I can only imagine the office's face when they read it.
