I know most of the DVC resorts only allow 4 people in a 1BR, but I think a few allow 5. My grandson is graduating in June 2020, and he and four friends want to celebrate at Disney! We own at BWV, SSR, and VWL.
You need to bring a bed and the bedding for the bed. Plus purchase a towel pack or bring a towel from home to get a towel for the fifth person. All three of the resorts you own only supply beds and towels for four.I know most of the DVC resorts only allow 4 people in a 1BR, but I think a few allow 5. My son graduates in 2020 as well. We are thinking of booking a celebration trip for him and his friends at BWV too! He has some other trip ideas he's considering though. So we will see.
You are allowed 5 in a 1 bedroom at BWV. They will only provide bedding for 4. We just bring an aerobed. You still get all 5 magic bands.
The guide either had no idea what s/he was talking about or deliberately lied.Actually if you ask for bedding, the front desk will bring up an air matress with bedding for a fifth person. This isn’t commonly known knowledge yet. We just found out a couple weeks ago on a DVC tour and our guide told us they’re trying to make more 1BRs sleep 5.

Ok now I'm wondering. I think I'll still pack my air mattress, but maybe they changed the policy recently.
Can you imagine *that* conversation? To confirm what @LittleFishy101 was told, I was at BCV a couple of months ago and there was an air mattress sitting out in the hall as a room was being cleaned. I chatted with a CM about it and they confirmed it's "as part of Membership Magic [not available to resale?], there is no longer a charge." It's first come, first served. This was specific to the 1BRs with only 4 sleeping surfaces but allows for 5 guests. Not available at VGF because of the trundle bed. No charge. Change was made in 2017.
Teenage boys in HS or College will not fit on the Murphy bed.Teenage/early 20s boys don’t need a kitchen or washing machine. They’ll never do laundry, and while they eat a ton, they probably won’t bother cooking or buying enough groceries for a full refrigerator. I’d just get them a studio that sleeps 5. Or 2 studios for for same points as a one bedroom (if they can’t share a bed)
I respectfully disagree. I think it’s not ideal, but my nephew who is 20 and 6 feet sleeps in it. My mother (granted she is only 5 foot 6) slept it in. I mean, When I was that age we’d crowd like 8 in a hotel room and sleep 3 to a bed and on the floor. (Granted that was probably against hotel policy).Teenage boys in HS or College will not fit on the Murphy bed.
