Five Guys Hamburgers.

I meant "new" for our area. I know they've been around for ages. A PP had mentioned how theirs was the hot thing at first, but then slowly went downhill. I was just acknowledging that it could happen here, as well. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I figured that's what you meant but I think having one franchise go downhill is hopefully not indicative of the chain. I visit various Five Guy's over many years and they are pretty consistent between them. I have alos not noticed a degradation in quality (we have had five restaurants open within 10 miles of me in the last 5-6 years) as time goes on. Sometimes, I get a burger that's not the best, but 9 times out of 10, it will be good.

OMG I want some 5 guys right now!!
I am going to stop and get some after work tomorrow :lovestruc

Curious about the hamburgers. Do they use local beef? Would seem that they would have to have local vendors, so wouldn't the quality differ from place to place? They are franchised right?

What are the prices like?

From their website:

While our beef is neither organic nor are the cattle free range, our distributor purchases raw materials from the major meat suppliers in the US and they treat the cattle humanely and follow all the procedures set forth by the USDA.

There's a 5 Guys about 2 miles away from my house. :sad2: It's too easy to get to is one complaint, the fact that I'm now addicted to their burgers and fries is my other complaint! :lmao:

I had no idea what the heck they were about until someone from work got a burger and fries for lunch. Hmmm, ok, I'll give it a try. Tried it one weekend when DS wasn't home and yummmmmmmm!

But I got a large fry. :scared1: Don't EVER get a large fry at 5 Guys!

I introduced DS and he was hooked too. Now we both get a burger and split a small (and we still throw some out sometimes) fry.

Why resist vinegar-are there calories or something?

I love vinegar on fries and chicken planks at LJS. However limp fries....ick. Oh well we still might have to try it.

Glad to know that it's the little burger we want, nothing worse than leaving half a hamburger sitting around.

cajun fries, the best.

There are a few Five Guys franchises opening around me. I am trying to stay far, far away. I've had them before and they are the best burgers and fries ever!!

(*wiping the drool running down my chin*)

Five Guys moved into an adjacent town last spring...Furthermore, they have french fries made with raw potatoes, not frozen and serve malt vinegar at the condiment counter. Those I resisted but it was extremely difficult. I am glad that they are a bit out of the way.

Dawn, darlin', stay away from those french fries!!! I ate them once and i won't allow my husband to go there again. The servings are so big one fry order could/should serve four people. Seriously!!

I like Five Guys, I think there food is delicious. We only eat there a few times a year though because it's not exactly nutritious & it's pricey for fast food.

I had never heard of them before reading this thread.

Today I went to the bank on the other side of town.(I don't usually go to this branch) While waiting at the drive-up, I noticed that there's a 5 Guys on the end of the strip mall. I honestly have no idea how long it's been there. There weren't a ton of cars but it was about 10:30am.

When I got home, I checked their web site and it looks like they've started to pop up in the Chicago area.

I didn't notice a drive-up so I'll probably never go there. We generally don't eat in fast food restaurants. I also rarely go to Subway for the same reason.

I wish they would properly label the portions. It's like vanity sizing in reverse. The "little" burger is what most would consider a normal size. The "regular" fries are enough for 3 people.

They opened one up close by a few years ago, tried it twice. Fries were good, burgers were not good, too sloppy. I think Checkers makes a better burger. I don't see the need for the large amt of fries that they serve.

When I saw this thread, I looked online and found that there are a couple of these places within a few miles of where I live. This is now on my "must try" list. :thumbsup2

I don't think I mentioned this earlier, but the Fuddruckers we always went to (in Winston Salem) closed down. I'm very sad about this. Their topping bar was the bomb! They had this pico de gallo topping that was soooo good. And being able to put cheese on your fries? OMG

I'm so hungry now. LOL And I just had Chic Fil A from the football game. (We just got a Chic Fil A about 20 miles from here and they started selling their chicken sandwiches at our high schools football games. Rumor is they are testing to see how well they sell to see if we are worthy of one in our town. I hope so!!

We are too small to have a Fuddruckers or Five Guys. :guilty:

I do want to try Red Robin one day.

LOL, well there isn't a need for it, but they are good........:lmao::rotfl:
I love the fries, I go there just for that:)

Did not make it to 5 guys, but we head down to that area 2-4 times a year for weekend getaways so I'll try next time.

I am staying away for at least 6 weeks. (For my own good!)

I thought the burgers were ok, but I loved the hot dog I had last week. A bacon cheddar dog with grilled onions and mustard. MMMMMMM!!!!!
