Fit Before 50: Barb's Journal to a Slimmer, Healthier Self

OMG, the Firm kicked my butt! I just did the short one since it was an "off" day, but I was still rather lost in the moves so I did a modified version. It was mostly cardio but it used the hand weights too and I worked up a good sweat.

The weather is finally getting nicer here. It sort of feels like spring in Chicago (50s today) and is supposed to be up to the 70s this weekend so maybe we will go to Busch Gardens. That's always great exercise since that's such a big park.

I'm sure my cats would be hanging out on the Wii board if I kept it on the floor. ANYTHING on the floor is fair game. They love it when my husband spreads out papers in his office so they can all take over and drive him crazy.

Woohoo! Sounds like the FIRM workout was a good one! Which one was it?

Glad the weather is warming up for you now! :sunny:

Hope you get a chance to go to Busch Gardens. Sounds like you've been getting in some great exercise!

The Firm workout that kicked my butt yesterday was Cardio Overdrive. I'm just getting ready to do Sports Active now; it's a late exercise night because I was busy with work and also had a community committee meeting, then a late dinner. Off to the TV with me!

I used to do the Firm (had to stop because my VCR died and so did my knees) and those cardio ones do kick the butt! But that is a good thing!

I am impressed that on your "off" day you still work out. That's dedication!:thumbsup2

Ugh...DH brought home Thai take out last night and I got food poisoning! We ate last because he was over at DIsney; then at 1 a.m. all heck broke loose. I'm still running a 101 fever but the barfing had thankfully stopped and I can keep water down. I can't think about what I ate tho' because that's instant return to nausea. Of course it couldn't happen on a Sports Active off day. I;ll check everyone's journals tomorrow but wanted to pop in quickly before I curl back up in bed. The cats have been playing "nursemaid" all day sleeping up against me...sweet kitties.

Oh, how horrible! I hope you are feeling better soon. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Sounds like you've met your match with The Firm! Great job for keeping at it...

Food poisoning..oh no! I hope you're starting to feel better soon...Saw you had a fever yesterday and stomach issues - I'm glad to hear your sweet kitties are there to keep you company.

How are you feeling today?

I managed some broth and jello today although my stomach is still rebelling. I still can't believe this; I was doing so well with exercise, then BOOM! Oh well, I have the feeling there is going to be a weight drop when this is all done since I didn't eat for literally 36 hours and I don't think it's going to be any more than the liquids and maybe some bread today. I'll never complain about exercise again...I'd rather lose weight through that than this mess any day!

I hear you on that! When I came back from my first trip to India, I contracted the dreaded "Delhi belly" and let me tell you - even though I lost 3-4lbs overnight it was NOT worth it!

I know you'll be back to 100% and be able to exercise again soon. Since you are in such good shape I bet your body will recover quickly! :wizard:

Any food is better than no food. I do hope you feel better soon and can get back to exercising!

Omg Barb, food poisoning is the worst. I hope you continue to feel better, don't overdo things, you have been through a lot!

I had my own Thai Terror once and let me tell you, its not something I eat too often all these years later!

Did your dh get it too?

Thankfully hubby avoided the same fate as me; the only thing we both ate was crab rangoon so I know for sure that was not the culprit. I wish I had just ordered curried rice like he did (although he threw the leftovers away...I don't blame him).

I'm almost back to normal now. For some reason I've had a nagging head and body ache, but that's almost gone today so tomorrow it's back to exercise. We actually went out for lunch and I had soup and a baked potato with sour cream and veggies (weird I know, but I have them put tomatoes and avocado on it...back when Wendy's used to have a salad bar years ago I would get a potato and practically make a salad on top of it). So far so good stomachwise. I probably should have tried to get out for a walk today but I'm still catching up on work. It will feel so good to return to my routine.

Barb..that's how I felt too...was doing so well with exercise than set back. I think more than anything it's the fear of not getting the discipline back...we can get each other back on track! Take care of your body first...I hope you're able to return to your routine, but make sure you're up to par hon, so you don't overdo it!! I'll check in tomorrow and see how you're feeling

Glad to hear you are doing better and hoping to exercise tomorrow. Like Deb said, don't push yourself. It's important that you are healthy first.

just checking in...i'll look for an update later - hope you're feeling back to yourself again!
