Fit Before 50: Barb's Journal to a Slimmer, Healthier Self

Those Wii games sound so cool!:cool1: I really need to look into getting a Wii. It sounds like fun!

Has the weather improved at all in Florida? I can't believe how cold it has been for you guys! :cold:

Have a wonderful day, Barb!

I haven't played the WiiFit+ that much. We just got it. The motes have died. I need to get them charged up...blah blah blah. But in the + menu, the first game on the upper left? It's bubble something. If you get into that game, it is a WAIST buster. My obliques (sp?) were SO SORE after playing that game! Maybe I'm weird, but I really liked playing it.

Was that the hula hoop game? I've done that one a few times but can't quite get the hang of it. My favorites of the old stuff are the skiing, tilt table balance game, boxing and step. It was a Sports Active day today...halfway through the 30 day challenge. Woo hoo!

I weighed myself upstairs and lost a pound so I don't know what was up with the Wii Fit scale. Whew, that scared me.

Still pretty darned chilly here, although DH texted me a picture of the snow in Chicago so I was grateful to be here in good ol' FL.

Not hula hoop. You have to use your hips to side butt the balloons or bumper things that add up to 10. You can cheat the system (like all the games), but if you get into it and really swing your hips all around, it is a GREAT workout for all those waist muscles. It took me so many tries to just get through all the puzzles on the beginner level. Then you have to bump the ones that add to 15. I haven't made it through all those puzzles yet. I tell you what. My whole waist area totally felt doing that game.

i quite like the sound of the wii fit plus games - might have a look at it now :)

You are way more patient than me, if that Wii Fit would have told me I gained 3 lbs I would have chucked it out the window! At least you had the sense to check on a different scale.:thumbsup2 I'm sure you will learn to love the new games, and maybe you can add some more intensity to them on your own?

Wow, I'll have to try that adding game. I may play with the Wii Fit a bit tonight even tho' I already did Sports Active. Depends on when I finish work tonight.

I'm toying with getting the Shred to do at some point over the summer but it doesn't sound good to do the same workout every single day. Oh well, I can space it out on my own. I'm sure running is not a good cool-down either but that's what Sports Active always does. Then it has me walk for like 10 seconds. I don't think that does much good to cool down, LOL.

Hi Barb, good job double checking your weight against the scale. You knew you had been doing well and now you have the proof!

I am so excited to get on my wii, the step thing is what I am most looking forward to.

Yeah, my brother lives in Chicago, be very glad you are not there!

Congrats on being halfway done with the 30 day challenge!:cheer2:

I hope the weather warms up for you soon. :sunny: It's weird for Florida to be so cold right now. Of course, it's only in the 20s here so I guess the 40's in Florida could be considered downright balmy. LOL!

Have a great Friday!

There is no way I would do Shred every day. I am doing it every other day and it's still tough! And now that I am on Level 2, I can see where this will be a good DVD to keep, because the different levels could be rotated however you want (yes, there are some things harder in L2 than L1, but there are also some that are easier, and they are totally different). Be warned - she uses jumping jacks as "warm-up"!

There is no way I would do Shred every day./QUOTE]

I'm with you. I love the workout, but I aim for 4-5 days a week. I think it's a great workout, and because I'm getting closer and closer to the advanced version of Level 1, I don't find it repetitive. I'm actually planning to tackle it tonight.

You're doing get at getting exercise in Barb!

Barb
You are doing a great job, keep up the good work!

I should have talked to you about our cruise. We just got back from the Magic Dec.5th.We had a blast.

Linda

Hi Barb, hope today was a good one and that you are staying warm in chilly Florida!:)

Brrrr, it is cold here! I did my Wii Sports Active relatively early today because we were meeting out of town friends at DHS for dinner at the Brown Derby. I had a light lunch since I knew I'd probably be having dessert. Had salad, tuna, and split the banana dessert with hubby. We had the last ressie of the night so we were able to sit around and chat without worrying that we had to leave because people were waiting. It was 48, and I felt every chilly degree of that as we hiked back to the car.

My arms were surprisingly sore yesterday. I've been shortening the resistance band to make it harder and I guess it's working. I think I'm going to buy some regular exercise bands to use instead as the SA one is rather flimsy.

We've supposed to get snow tonight...UGH!!!! There is just something so wrong about snow at Disney World.

Did you say snow in WDW?!?!? :scared1: You mean like the "real" stuff? :scared1: Not the stuff they put out over Main Street at Christmas time, right? LOL! ;) It must be really cold down there! :cold: It's just not right when Florida is almost as cold as Ohio in the winter. :sad2: Hope it warms up for you soon! :sunny:

I can't wait for the day when we can hop over to DHS or Epcot for dinner! That is so cool that you are able to do that!:cool1:

Keep up the good work with your exercise! You are doing a GREAT job!:cheer2:

My friend lives in Orlando and he was telling me he's had to scrape ice off his windshield the past couple mornings! I certainly hope this cold snap leaves you guys soon so all of the tropical plants and of course the orange crop has a chance of recovery! :wizard: We had snow here in the Phoenix area a couple years ago and while beautiful, none of the foliage liked it! :sad2:

Aren't those resistance bands great? I never thought you could get a good workout out of something like that, but they can be brutal!

It seems like the whole world is having weird weather!! Almost the whole of Europe is in a deep freeze & some places in the US have made the news over here too - but wow snow in orlando!! i keep saying to DH ''can you imagine 90 degree heat when we visit in Aug'' lol we've forgot what it feels like to be warm!!!
I had my 1st ever wdw table service meal at brown derby :)
keep up the great workouts - they'll help keep you warm as well as fit ;)

OMG, it was so cold this morning! DH and I had a lot of chores to do so we went out for breakfast and it was only in the low 40s. I was waiting in the car for him to run in to get French Toast coffee at the gas station on the way home (flavored coffee with no sugar is one of my favorite low calorie treats...I do put in some cream but the coffee itself has no calories since the flavor is in the beans) and the frozen rain was pinging on the windshield. I thought I was back in Chicago!

I haven't worked out yet, but since it's a "off day" from the 30 day challenge I am going to mess around with my favorite Sports Active exercises. I bought myself a Snuggie today since it's always cold in the family room, and one of my cats peed on it five minutes after I got it out of the box!! I'm not sure which one...either Farquaad or SheiKra, since both were on it. Can't figure out why either but I was NOT a happy camper.

French Toast coffee sounds yummy!:goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear about the Snuggie. :(

I hope the weather improves for you soon! :sunny:

Have a great Sunday!

That stinks (literally!) about the Snuggie! I guess the kitty was just trying to claim it. :goodvibes
