Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Fishing at the Fort is allowed? Is that just in the canals or is there a place to fish in the lake? I am looking at buying my grand-kids some fishing poles for Easter, will they be able to use them at the Fort? It is catch and release correct? So is there a certain kind of hook I need to buy for them? And recommendations on the poles would be appreciated.

Fishing at the Fort is allowed?
. . . yes
. . . it is a private lake, so no license is needed

. . . if it has water, fish it
. . . just don't use long casts in the sinks or showers

. . . yep

It is catch and release correct?
. . . yep
. . . even if not, you WOULD NOT want to eat WDW fish !!!
. . . ugly, nasty, germy water (you can't even swim in it)

So is there a certain kind of hook I need to buy for them?
. . . something shaped like a "U"

And recommendations on the poles would be appreciated.
. . . most folks just use a cane or bamboo-like pole
. . . you do not do long casting

Thanks Rusty, although I am pretty disappointed about the showers and sinks :rotfl2:

My son caught 3 good size bass last month at the Fort, but only after he stopped using the lures we brought, and put little pieces of hot dog on the line:)

1) Even fish like a good hot dog.
2) But, using Magic Kingdom Casey's hot dogs don't catch anything.
3) Even fish pass on those things.

There is a type of hook called a Circle Hook. It is very good for hooking the fish in the mouth rather than having them swallow the hook. If they swallow the hook they die. The Disney Fishing Guides use Circle Hooks
