Fish Extenders for the Podcast Cruise

My DD-12 just walked into the kitchen and asked...

"Hey, aren't we going to assemble "FE" gifts today?"

She called them FE gifts!!

She make her mom proud! :)

OMG, I am on the Naughty List in red on page one!

Here is the rest of my info.:

Erika & Jeff
Kids = Riley (ds 9) Cammie (dd 8), Kelly (dd 6)
State rooms 2075 & 2077

TWO staterooms, but only ONE FE (with all of us one one).

And we are having a great time picking out gifts for all of you from the great state of Maine! (Think chocolate lobsters, gummy lobsters, lobster magnets....)

Lobster Lobsters? :worship:

I admit that I haven't read the whole thread yet (but I am working my through it...promise!) and I have a few quick questions.

This is our first time cruising, so that also means our first time with FEs. What is proper FE etiquette?

I am sure that the answer to this will be "Whatever you are comfortable with," but I would still like to know what the norm is. Do we leave one gift per person per day? Or do some folks do one gift per stateroom as opposed to per person? Are homemade edible gifts a no-no? Do you put a tag on the gift indicating who it is from?

Thanks for any info! I am SO excited for the cruise. And we haven't told our kids yet...and they have been BEGGING for a Disney cruise for the past 3 years! And I know my kids, I swear the FEs are going to be one of the highlights of the trip for them!

I would not leave one gift per person per day. That is way too much. One gift either per person or stateroom per cruise is more than sufficient. You cannot bring homemade edible things onboard as they must be packaged (and not in a ziploc bag, etc.). You can put a tag on the gift, you don't have to.

Let me share with you what we are doing. I'm a first-time Disney cruiser.
We have small giftbags made up (with 'from' tags). One type of bag is for adults, one type for older kids, one type for younger kids. We will pass out gifts to each cabin... if the cabin has kids they will get more. Does that make sense?

We worked on our FE gifts this weekend!

We are doing one bag per stateroom, with the exception of the few rooms with two separate households, like Todd and his roomie. So basically one gift per household/family. There are a few rooms where there are just friends sharing, so we want to be sure they get one gift each, since they aren't a 'family' per say.

We are also doing one giftbag per kid too- we have separate boy and girl gifts we did last night. we even did slightly different for the teens!

we finished the kids/teens bags. We are doing a little treat bag, with multiple gifts inside (from me, my parents and my roommate, nancy).

i think we are almost done with our FEs too! Just need to add our names. i'll add a pic later on. My mom did an AWESOME job on them- mainly with gluing and some sewing, but they turned out really cute. We need to cut our dowel rod and we plan to buy the car antenna balls when we get there.

No it doesn't.... ;)
We don't have kids and now i get punished for that by getting fewer gifts :sad::sad:

Don't be sad.. you still get the 'adult' gift bag. I'm pretty sure you don't want the kiddie gift bag too. And by 'adult', I DON'T mean ADULT (family board/family gifts).

we did one per family or single depending on if they are actually family or just roomies.

hope you guys like what we did :)

I also hope i don't miss anyone - i've gone over the list several times but i'm the type personality that until it's done will always "double check" LOL

it's driving dh nuts right now

Hi Erika! I'm a first time cruiser too! What I did was buy randon gifts at the dollar store, Target $1 section, etc., etc. I tried to make all my gifts "Disney" or "nautical" related. We are passing out one gift to each stateroom on one day only. I heard you can find some nice FE gifts from the Oriental Trading Company. Their website is www.orientaltradingcompany.com. The list of FE participants can be found on this tread on post #15. Jen will be updating the list soon for all of us. As far as tagging the gifts, it's totally up to you. Most ppl from what I've heard are going to and they put it's FROM:*screen name*. I'm running out of time and might have to throw some Christmas gift tags on them, haha!

Welcome aboard and can't wait to meet ya!

I'm still looking for ittlmc3 to get info up.

i'm leaving in a few days and won't be able finish it. :(

We're right next door. 2 cabins, one family. :)

Hmmmm...I wonder if I can smuggle live lobsters on board to leave in FEs! :rotfl2: Truthfully, they are so inexpensive here right now, it would actually be affordable!

I remember when I lived on the cape and you could buy them at the grocery store for $2.99 a pound. And believe me I have no problem droping those live babies into that boiling water. (Okay, now I'm going to have the PETA people all over me)

I agree with most of the other posters, I'm doing one gift per person, it's not something that's "sharable". With a group this big, one per cruise is going to do it. I may split the delivery over two days though. It's a lot of rooms.

Thanks, everyone! We have had so so so much going on in our lives these past few months that I haven't really allowed myself to think about the cruise much. Now that it is only DAYS away, I have to get moving! I am so excited, but of course, I have gotten nothing done today other than daydream about the cruise on post on the DIS!

I remember getting them for $1.99 a pound the summer my sister got married in Mass. I was sooo sick of lobsters that summer! And I had no problems boiling them either.
