OK. I've been a semi-lurker for a while, but our first trip is only 15 days away (yikes!) and I have a question....

What is the real deal with room requests?? Should I even bother beyond non-smoking?? How about calling the front desk or faxing the room assigner?? Is that really out, as was previously posted???

I just want our accommodations on our first trip to be nice. It doesn't have to be perfect or spectacular, just not bad. (Clean would be good!) I don't want any regrets about buying. (especially from DH!)

We are also arriving at 11pm. What are the chances of getting a "nice" room at that hour?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,
Lisa

First trip home to BVC in 15 days!!!! Waaa Hooo!!!!!

The only way to make your requests known is through MS. Calling or faxing the room controller or front desk won't work.

If you don't have a specific area in mind, perhaps you could make general requests: near the elevator, facing Epcot, not too far from the elevator, top floor, etc.

In any case, you're going to have a nice, clean room and a wonderful time at WDW. Enjoy your first DVC stay!

We like the request "pool view" which is fairly general as a lot of even-numbered rooms look a the quiet pool. We like this request because the service road that runs behind the building is far away from the pool-view rooms (I don't like road noise). BCV is shaped kind of funny so there are lots of different sorts of "views." The place really is beautiful and I hope you have a great time. The common areas of the villas are beautiful and the access to Boardwalk and Epcot is a real treat.

Have fun!

DW and I were down at BCV'S over Halloweeen. We had
room # 529 ( 1 bdrm ) and had a great view of Illuminations. It's on the backside of the building over looking the grassy area , you can also see the buildings at Boardwalk, the Swan, and Tower of Terror. Have a great trip.

I have a studio 561 - with a great view of Epcot - of course it was also a road view - but I really didn't notice anything except Spaceship Earth - it was cool to wake up to see it and great to see it before going to sleep...

I just don't quite know what to request with MS. With the two or three calls I have made getting the dates down they really didn't seem overly interested in helping me with requests so I thought I would call back later. It's later.

I would like either an upper level illuminations view or a lower level pool view. Non-smoking. CLEAN. Working order. Somewhat quiet.

I'll call MS again and hopefully be able to communicate this. I have a hard time on the phone sometimes.

Thanks again,
Lisa

PS: Don't sweat it... The whole area is pretty. I wanted 'lower level" pool view but wound up on 4th floor and it was great. The elevators are very fast. Also, our room was right by the laundry room and that was wonderful as we were only in a studio.

There are lots of great rooms here and ours was perfect. I hope you guys have a great time!

I've been a Member since 1994 and have stayed at every DVC Resort except BCV so far. Every room I have been assigned has been clean and in complete working order. It's one of the great things about DVC. They do a terrific job in maintaining their properties IMO.

I have also never requested a specific room or building yet. I happen to like staying in different locations. Yes, some might be preferable but I'm not one to get hung up on having a specific place or my whole vacation will be ruined.

This is your first DVC stay. Enjoy it plus the many more that you will have over the years, no matter where you are. Rest assured that your unit will be clean. If it's not DVC will help you.

Don't worry be happy as they say!

I may have gotten some bad information. I was told that the only time you can make specific requests now (other than handicap), is upon check-in.:(

I'm sure you are also able to request non smoking and to be near a friend or relative that is also staying at the resort. I just did those two weeks ago.

I spoke to Jackie Lueders (a DVC manager) about 2 or 3 months ago when the "room ready" policy came out. I said to her why bother making requests at the time of reservation if the rooms are not assigned until check-in. She said they would prefer to have your requests on record ahead of time so that the front desk staff could quickly see them. From reports of people coming back, it seems like they are pre-assigning some rooms, so I would put them on your reservation record. Anytime I have made a reservation, they always ask smoking preference.

Thanks! I'm calling today to request building 42 at OKW. (Definitely our favorite):bounce:
