Hi all! My SIL and BIL are going to take their daughters, ages 1.5 & 3.5 to MK for one day while in FL, they've never been and are pretty lost with the planning. I'm helping as much as I can but I've never used FP+ and also never been with kids so any advice is welcome! They are staying at ASM for the night as well.

Would love to help, but unsure what questions they have...:confused3

So many possible lists of do's and don'ts out there...Food, rides, characters etc. They just need to go slow and enjoy the time together.

The key will be arriving early for rope drop. With kids that age, they should plan for a mid-day break as well. If they aren't staying far, they can leave and come back later in the day (re-entry is permitted) but if that's not logistically feasible, the mid-day break can be accomplished by booking a TS lunch somewhere to relax in the AC for a while. Maybe give the kids a chance to pass out in the stroller for a bit. They could even ride the monorail and visit the resorts for a while, as a break to get away from the park for a minute.

Since they only have one day and have small kids, I would get as much done as possible in the morning and book FP+ for late afternoon probably.

If they have not already done so, have them look at the various list of attractions (rides, parades, character greets, etc...) to figure out what rides they think will be good for their family. Make sure they understand that they may not be able to do everything in that day, especially with young children, and to focus on about 5-10 things they want to make sure they do. Then, they can try to FP the 3 attractions that are the most importation for their family to make sure they do.

I think it's really important for the adults to talk about their expectations before they go. When DH and I took our kids the first time, they were 1.5, 4, and 7 years old. We decided going in that doing things together was the priority. We skipped headliners that the kids were too short for.

If they want to be able to do Space, etc, they need to have a child swap plan or whatever, but I think talking about it ahead of time is worth the time.

I am a huge proponent of the midday break, but with only one day, they might not be willing to sacrifice the time.

Budget permitting, I recommend the Crystal Palace for as late a breakfast as you can get and treat it as lunch. Lots of great character interaction and good food that kids that age will eat. Everyone will enjoy a break-- especially if they've been up and at 'em for for hours. Often families with little ones can make it to rope drop pretty easily since young children are usually early risers.

I hope they have a wonderful time.

Which three attractions would you suggest they use their FP for? (No character meets)

At that age, Peter Pan, Enchanted Tales with belle, and either little mermaid or Winnie the pooh. Those are the ones that typically have longer waits. Unless the 3.5 year old is 38 inches, then I would swap out one (not Peter Pan) and choose 7 dwarfs mine train.
