Hello,
We will be taking our first Disney Cruise. We are doing a 4-night Bahama Cruise out of Port Canaveral. We are interested in having a massage and have some questions.
1) We are members of DVC (however not using points to cruise). In order to use the DVC discount on Spa services we would need to do them when the boat is at port. We are hoping to do the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau and just relax on the beach at Castaway Cay. Would there be a way to schedule massages around these activities on a port day? Can anyone tell me the hours the boat is considered at port on both days?
2) Would you suggest booking in advance or waiting until we board the ship?
Thank you very much!

1. Port days in Nassau are usually from 9 :00 AM to 4:45 PM. You could feasibly take your Dolphin Encounter excursion and then book the massage to within an hour or so after you return.
Castaway Cay is usually from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM or so. Again, very easy to spend some beach time before or after your massage. The Barbecue buffet on the island is served from 11 to 2 but there is also food on the ship of course. :)

I would book ahead of time so you can choose a spa time and excursion time best suited to your needs. Sometimes it is hard to get spa time based on what you might want once onboard.

If there is a specific spa treatment you want, or a specific time you want, book it in advance. If you aren't sure what you want, or if you are open-minded to an additional one, I can tell you that my wife stopped by the Spa once we were underway, and got one $200 treatment for $100, and 20% off something else. She didn't get to pick from every choice, but the ones on special sounded interesting to her. So that is something to look out for also.

Yes!!! When we cruised, they offered a sampler one day. It was posted the night before in the Navigator. I got a short massage, facial, eye treatment, wrap...I can't even remember it all. It was 90 minutes and $110? I think.

Did you have to book immediately to have a spot? Did you go to the spa or is there a number to call? That sounds like something I would love to do on my cruise, and we don't plan to get off the ship in our first stop, so I'd love to have an option like that on that day.

Thanks!

What she is talking about isn't something you book ahead of time, it is a special deal that they sometimes post once you are on the ship, in order to fill openings they have available. There is no guarantee they will have that particular special on your cruise, or any at all, but if you check the Navigators once you are on board, or stop by the Spa during your cruise, they may well have some special deals. If you want to be SURE of having a certain treatment at a certain time, on a certain day, you have to book it ahead of time (once your booking window opens) and pay whatever the going rate is.

It was posted in the Navigator (put on our bed that evening, and offer was good next day)...and I called immediately to book a slot. This was on a 14 night cruise, so we had a lot more spa specials available because of the length of time.

Thanks! I looked back at a few navigators of cruises similar to mine and I did see some specials available - I may take my chances and hope one comes up. Good to know I should call immediately!
