First Time Cruiser Question

I've never been on a cruise before so I have a few questions on how it works. Other than alcohol, Palo's, shopping, and tips, what other things do you need to pay extra for? What about room service? We will be on our honeymoon and want to make sure we'll have enough spending money with us. We are doing the 4-night cruise (Wonder 7/21) and then heading to Port Orleans Riverside for 6 more nights so we don't want to spend all of our money on the cruise. Also, are there any items that I should pack that I wouldn't think to pack but I should have? Thanks for the help. :D

HI!

The only other things you would pay for is Shutters ($9.95 or $19.95 per picture), room service tips, or optional things like bingo or the spa. You really shouldn't run up too much of a bill, but remember, its your honeymoon, and it only happens once!

I too was a first time cruiser, but now i can say I'm not. I just loved the cruise. BUt one thing I learned about money on a cruise is that they don't take cash........... you use your key to the world card for every thing. No cash in the gift shop, shutters, or any were on the boat..... you can go to guest service at the end and pay on your bill but if you don't the total will go on your cerdit card.....they told me if your total is over 200.00 they don't take cash at all it hs to go on the cerdit card. just so FYI. It will help me on the next cruise and yes it will be Disney. I'm in love with it.

What we do is take cash for room service and to use on shore. You will need some for purchases in Nassau and the Post Office at Castaway Cay. Other than that we put everything on our charge card and even up the next month when the bill hits the mail box. We also use a card (Priority Club) that gives us points for each dollar we spend. These points can be applied to hotel stays, gifts or airline miles. I just used the card to pay off our 9/14 cruise. More points for another stay in a Holiday Inn.
I agree with sbasowski that it not the time to worry about cash. You will have the rest of your married life to do that.
Your shore portion at POFQ will work the same way. Been there, done that too.

Soda, if you are a soda drinker, soda comes with dinner but nowhere else. Youo could either bring it on board or buy the refillable mug or buy a glass as you go.

Excursions are also not included.

Money for postage and postcards

One our first Disney cruise, we thought it would be very cool to send postcards with a postmark from Castaway Cay. They do have a little post office there, and the only drawback to that is that it took 4-5 weeks for our postcards to get back to the States. So I don't know if they'll send them from the ship, but I don't recommend doing it from Castaway Cay.

Congrats, and enjoy your honeymoon!

Same here on postcards. I mailed mine from St. Maartin and I was back at work two weeks before they came. Next time I might buy the postcards on the islands and mail them from Florida.;)
