I am retired and my DH only works 1 or 2 days a week. We are heading down as we really need this trip as the past year was so stressful for us. My DH's mother passed last February after a really long stressful illness. Then Covid struck, both of us got the virus this past January, but now we both got our vaccines. Missed so much last year with Quarantine from loved ones on top of everything else. Did I mention how much we need this trip. My DH just said book us a trip mid August. We need to relax in a good way (Not being confined to the house.) So we booked week of 8/17 - 8/22 at CSR (our favorite)., just 1 month short of our 41st wedding anniversary, unable to get away in September. For the first time, no hopper passes as I do not move as quick as I used to as my knees can get pretty bad. But we do plan on a low cost fun trip. Really wish they had the Dining plan again. Made life so easy for us arranging meals. So excited for this unexpected trip. 👩‍🦳👨‍🦳🏰

I am retired and my husband retired about 6 months ago. It's so great to be able to go where you want, when you want, right? I hope you both have a great well earned relaxing vacation to recharge your batteries, LOL> We will either be going to DLR this fall or down south to Tennessee (with maybe a trip to Florida, who knows?) Have a great time:)

Sounds like we could have just traded places. I have the opposite situation. I also retired recently, but I retired from Disney so I didn't need to visit WDW, I needed to get away to a place without theme parks, tourists and traffic.

We are in a similar situation, too. Headed down in September, and we have 2 "free days" where we did not purchase park tickets. I would love to know what other active retirees do when they are not at the park. We opted not to get a rental car and are splitting our stay between Jambo house and the new Swan reserve. Ideas?
