Well this weekend my fiance and I were at JoAnn ETC looking at the supplies for Scrapbooking as I going to try it, and wanted to get prices of the basics I will need. she picked up the brochure about the classes that they offer and found a beginners SB class. We went in Sunday (to use 40% coupon on the class) and I signed up for it!!

We also stopped by a a local store called Scrapbook Creations and were overwhelmed with the choices of paper and stickers and ... that they have. I may try to check out Capture The Memories next Sunday as they will be open special that sunday for National SB Day.

Unfortunately the class is not till June first, but I did pick up some stuff for the class. The list for tha class said bring 6-10 photos of the same subject, and I have LOTS of my dog playing in the snow. So I picked up some snowflake 12x12 paper and some dog stickers and some snowflake stickers, and also a paper punch of a dog print. we were also told to pick up 5-pack of 12x12 refill.

I am also planning on posting a picture of some stuff I did that lead my fiance into thinking I would be good at SB. It is just a simple frame with four cutouts that show off our two copilots certificates from the monorail and our room keys from our proposal trip this past Jan. You can read her post about the monorail trip by seeing the link in my signature. But on this I used some paper I got from the SB section at JoAnn ETC as a background and stuck the tickets and certificates to the paper. I like it, as she does too, so I will post to see what other think of it.

Hey Mike,

Welcome to the great wide world of scrapbooking!!! I don't think you will regret it! Just prepare to spend a LOT of money and even more TIME!

The first time I stepped into Scrapbookers Paradise (my local SB store) I was SO intimidated!

After you start though, you will know exactly what you will want to buy and use. I have never tried a SB class, but I am sure it will give you the basic knowledge and get you hooked!

Good luck and have FUN!

Btw, loved the story about your proposal!

It can become an obsession! A good one but still....always looking and then of course those 40% off coupons...I see one every week for craft stores and thing what could I buy!
I just got into scrapping in the last few months and it seems it is a constant evolution! I think I know what I like and then change my mind again and again! I am still tying to figure out what type of book I like most. only thing I can agree on is the 12x12 size...
Have fun there are lots and lots of web site to look at.
Can't wait to see some of your albums! I wish I had a digital to upload some of my pictures.

Welcome, Mike. :)

It is very easy to get carried away buying scrapbook supplies. Just start with the basics and build from there. The classes sound great. They will give you an idea of what you will need to get started. :)

It's a huge world out there in scrapbook land.

I am very frugal when it comes to tools and supplies. I try to buy things only as I need them. I made myself a promise that I would not collect so many supplies as to grow out of the XXL rolling tote. I am still in the XL over the shoulder tote bag but it is getting really heavy.

Welcome!!

Congrats on taking step one! Did you buy anything to keep everything organized? I started out with a bag since I didn't have a good spot to keep everything out all the time then. And I needed it to take to crops.
One suggestion is when you have a bunch of pictures in mind to scrap, take them with you to the store and match papers and accessories. My nearest GOOD LSS is one hour away (though I prefer the stores in Plano, TX!:D ) so I tend to buy a bunch of paper when I'm there 'cause I can't just run to the store for a certain color. I bought a 12x12 paper organizer/tote and sort my papers by color. Everybody has their own system though. Yours will evolve too.
Also, it's great that you're getting started on this NOW, instead of like me- I have 13 years of marriage, trips, and 2 kids to catch up on!!!:o
Keep us posted!
