Hi everyone! So I'm planning my first solo trip (ever) to Disney this fall. Will will be living in Florida for a few months for work and want to take advantage of being close! I actually went earlier this year with my family ( parents and younger brother. I'm a mid20s female, not married/no kids) so I have managed to sneak in since a lot of the changes like fast pass and magic bands have really kicked in. My issues arise with when I should go, deciding where to stay and if going during the NSSHP or the very merry Christmas party would be more fun. I LOVE Halloween but I'm dying to do some Christmassy stuff at Disney World. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the two parties? I'm also debating going either the last weekend of September as a little birthday present to myself or during Veterans Day weekend as I should have a 4 day weekend. Anyone every been Veterans Day weekend? How were the crowds? Finally, I was at POFQ for my most recent trip but want to splurge on one of the nice hotels since, for probably the only time in my life, I could afford it. Any recommendations on where to stay when I go? I'm planning on pretty much being in the parks...most likely MK most of the time I'm there...so the resort would just simply be for the experience. Also if anyone else is going either of those weekends and want a park buddy let me know! Thanks in advance!

I can't answer all of your questions, but I do have some input. For Halloween vs. Christmas party, I would say the Halloween party is the better of the two. I've only been to the Halloween party, but I'm making this suggestion from the reviews. If you went during Christmas time, the best tour plan is a resort hopping day to all of the deluxe resorts. They really fancy them up.

Thanks for your input! I think in the end it'll be a hard decision to make. Hopefully other people see this and will be nice enough to leave their thoughts too!

How exciting! When it comes to MNSSHP vs MVMCP, I would say the MNSSHP packs more punch. However, I would choose Christmastime in general as a better overall choice. If you have never been to WDW during Christmastime, you are missing something amazing. The decorations are outstanding, there is a ton to do at the resorts and if you go at the right time the crowds are still manageable.

You didn't mention a time during the Christmas season that you would have room to go so I am not sure how feasible that will be for you. If you end up sticking with the fall, your September weekend will give you food and wine exposure and you will be gone before the crowd from the TOT race starts. I have never been in November so I am not sure what those crowds are like.

As for resorts, if this is your one time splurge I would go with a monorail resort (CR or GF) avoiding Poly construction. Of course I am a MK fan and love my monorail. If you want to splurge without breaking the bank then I would go with WL or YC/BC. WL is especially perfect for a Christmastime visit but it books up fast.

I went Veterans Day weekend last year (also wine and dine 1/2 marathon weekend and last weekend of food and wine festival). I went solo and dint think crowds were too bad. I stayed at pop. Ran the jungle jingle 5k. Had fun being there solo. Ate around the world at Epcot at the food and wine festival and didn't do any fast passes. This year I am also running the5k, bringing a friend, staying at pop. (Don't spend a lot of time at hotel except to sleep). Maybe fast passing 7 dwarf mine ride at MK and no food reservations

Have been to both Halloween and Christmas party and Halloween was more fun. Went in December 2010 and it was cooler in florida than Massachusetts. It was fun to resort hop and see all the decorations especially the gingerbread house at GF. Also went to candlelight processional when Jodi Benson was the narrator. (Huge mermaid fan). Love food and wine festival the best.

Well. For crowds the last weekend in Sept will be WAY better. It will be humid and HOT though.

I've been for Veterans weekend it wasn't that bad.

I like both parties, so maybe do both? Lol. Just go two days in sept and 2 in nov. If you are going that early in Nov, there will not be that many decorations up.

Temperature doesn't bother me! I'm a Southerner by birth so I pretty used to hot and humid. Y'all are helping a lot! I'm thinking I may shoot for the end of September....bonus that that weekend is my birthday weekend as well! WL, GF, and BC are most definitely in the running for where I'll stay! I'm so excited!

I will be down that last weekend meeting some friends, I'm always down for a little meet up.

MNSSHP is the better of the two parties, especially if you are going early NOV. Like I said earlier, most of the Christmas Decorations wont be up until Early Dec, so you will only see MK pretty much have decorations.
