I am planning my first solo hotel stay in January! My goal is to relax and get some spa treatments. I am debating between the Swan hotel or Saratoga Springs. Also I would love some ideas of how to entertain myself being solo. I do plan on hitting up the magic kingdom. =D

You could consider taking one of the tours at the Magic Kingdom - you'd still be solo but would be surrounded by people and depending on the tour, may eat with the group if food is provided on the tour you choose. I have stayed at Saratoga and Boardwalk - Saratoga seems more isolated (not that there is anything wrong with that) and the Boardwalk area has those activities plus you can walk to two parks from there. But they are supposed to be building that bridge from Saratoga to DTD aren't they? If they are and if that is finished that would give you quick access there. Have a great time whichever you choose pixiedust:

I am leaning more towards spa, room service, pool, and bar. =D I wanna stay a hotel that is not spread out. I have stayed at each moderate hotel and the pool and lobby is here...and my room is ------------------------------ 20 miles away. Is Saratoga Springs like that?

Certain parts are a hike at SS. As a matter of fact, I would just wait for the bus to come around to take me back to the main house - lol - you know, I was on vacation ;) I believe at that time I was in the Carousel section. But you could just request a room near the main house and it would all be good.

Hello, girls! If I may butt in... I am traveling solo to Orlando in December and this touring thing caught my attention. I have never been at Disney - or at any of its friendly parks for that matter, for I am Brazilian and this will be my first time visiting - and would appreciate if someone could shed some light into what exactly these Disney tours entail.

Not a girl, but I will shed some light.

Really depends on what tour you take. Pretty much all offer backstage accesses and then they give you tips and what not.

The most popular one is called Keys to the Kingdom and it's at Magic Kingdom. It's 6 hours long and some of the highlights are; rides on Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion where your Tour Guide will point out neat things and tell you secrets. You go into the utlidoors and see them and lunch at Columbia Harbour House

Just check the tour section of Disney's page and find the one that interest you the most!!

Hi I'm going solo in September and have booked the Dolphin mainly for the reason it is so central to HS ,Boardwalk & Epcot also had a good deal. I have stayed at SS but to me it was an upgrade of PO or OKW. Yes it is close to DD but mainly you will be travelling by bus to all the attractions which after a night at the parks can be draining
This is my second solo trip and I will do keys to the kingdom this time last time I did the Wild Africa Trek which was well worth the fee. Apart from the parks I like to stroll around the resorts, use the different modes of transport ie the boat to Wilderness resort
I mostly do counter service but allow for a few table service meals . I was there for 10 days and had a trip via the Lynx bus to the Florida mall that was an experience . Whatever you decide you will have a fabulous time have fun

yikes. Maybe I should stay at the contemporary instead. I just want a nice spa and close to MK and a hotel that I dont have to walk a mile to get to the pool.
