Mulan: "Would you like to stay for dinner?"
Grandma Fa: "Would you like to stay forever?"-Mulan
It started to sprinkle a little as we walked toward the Hollywood Brown Derby where our dinner ADR was.
I checked us in at the podium and then we attempted to wait outside since the lobby was a bit crowded.
There were several characters out by the hat and I spotted Friar Tuck, and since the boys had recently rediscovered Robin Hood I walked them over for a picture with him.
We we got back to the restaurant we moved inside to the lobby to wait since it was starting to actually rain pretty hard outside.
There was a steady stream of walk ins being turned away by the CM at the podium, who was nice about it and tried to direct them to a counter service place. We had to wait longer than we would have liked given how many people were in the lobby and how few seats there were. Finally we were called and lead back to a table. I loved the atmosphere at Brown Derby immediately!
Our waiter Josh came over and right from the start he was fantastic! Super friendly and fun and great with the kids. I mentioned to him that Joey would be wanting to order off the kids menu and Josh began to gently tease Joey that then he would miss out on all the best food. Josh knew the menu really well and had lots to say about all the dishes and some recommendations on his favorites. He made us feel like we couldn't go wrong with anything we picked.
I ordered an adult beverage, but I can't remember what it was called. It was good though.
While Josh went to get our drinks Daisy and I discussed sharing the Cobb Salad and I suggested that she trade places with Joey who was across from me so it would be easier. Josh feigned much confusion by their place trading and gave Joey more good natured teasing for it.
We all ordered our food, Daisy and I ordered the Cobb Salad.
David and Aunt Pat tried it as well, it says for two people but it was more than enough for four. It was a very tasty salad. The boys had veggies and dip. While we were enjoying our appetizers a few of the street performers from the opening show came through the restaurant and provide some fun atmosphere.
Our entrees were served and despite Josh's recommendations we all played it safe. Daisy, David and I all had the Grilled Filet Mignon.
Aunt Pat ordered the Roast Hatfield Pork Rib Chop.
The boys much to Josh's disappointment both had a hot dog.
Our food was absolutely fantastic and we enjoyed a very leisurely meal. The children enjoyed being silly for the camera as well.
Daisy even managed to get a hold of my camera for a little while.
The desserts at Brown Derby were gorgeous to look at, Aunt Pat had the Grapefruit Cake.
David the Pumpkin Cheesecake.
Daisy got the Vanilla Creme Brulee.
I had the the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower.
Joey and Adam both had ice cream with chocolate sauce, which was a special order provided by Josh. After dinner I asked Josh if I could take his picture since he had been such an awesome waiter for us, so he posed with the boys.
We really enjoyed our meal at The Hollywood Brown Derby and exited out into the wet park happy and full.
Adam had asked about seeing Fantasmic and since it was raining, and we had been up since very early and we all were pretty worn out already, I suggested we could see it Sunday night. I was glad that I knew our itinerary and various choices so well that I could easily offer up a better time to insure that we enjoyed the evening show without being to tired. I knew I had deliberately left Sunday night, David's birthday, open to provide and opportunity to choose what evening activity we wanted to do. Everyone was quite agreeable to that choice and we exited the park in good spirits despite getting wet in the rain.
At the bus stop I gave the boys their Rock n Roller Coaster backstage passes with their names on them, which they loved.
Back at CSR the kids and Aunt Pat got off at bus stop 4 and went straight to the room and David and I rode around to the lobby. Joey had been asking and asking about eating at Tusker House again and since the next day was our second Animal Kingdom day I wanted to see if I could make that happen for him. I was shocked and then very pleased when I was able to get an 8am, a coveted prior to park opening, ADR.
David and I then walked back to the room, where the kids were exited t show us that mousekeeping had lined up their plushies on the bed.
We all got into our jammies and went to sleep early exited for our second breakfast with Donald in the morning.
