"Oh, Donald ..." -Daisy Duck
In case it hasn't surfaced before I should let you know I have a thing about time and being late. And to me being just on time is late. Perfectly on time for me is 10 minutes early. So I was mildly stressed out that we were just on time or possibly only 5 minutes early for our ADR at Tusker House.
I went up to the podium to check us in. Now remember I didn't bring those reservation numbers with me. The cm at the podium click, click, clicks on his computer and no ADR under our name. What?
I was about to have a total FREAK OUT, when he said "But we're still taking walk ins so it's no problem." Whoa, it was hard to come down from an almost tantrum, but a few big deep breaths and I was almost ok. I decided to worry about the missing ADR later.
We waited about 15 minutes.
David took the opportunity to make a phone call. Joey is imitating him in the picture.
It was a long 15 minutes for Daisy.
Then "Jambo" we were called for a table. The kids posed for the package picture and we were escorted in. Right away I liked the atmosphere. It was open, airy, and bright inside. Our server "David" was funny and friendly. He explained that when the characters entered the room they would start on the other side and we would be last in the room. Fine with us.
It was getting close to 11am and our next Fast Pass window was opening up, so David ducked out and went and got Safari Fast Passes.
Everyone went through the buffet lines and got their food. It all looked delicious! Joey discovered Mickey waffles and fell in love.
He asked if we could eat there again the next day.
All of my food was great but I especially liked the bread pudding with vanilla sauce and the Jungle Juice, which is non alcoholic but good anyway.
Adam insisted on arranging his food into hidden Mickey's before I could take a picture of it.
The character interaction was fun at Tusker House too. I liked that we got to observe the characters as they made their way around the room before they got to us. Mickey and Donald came through and we got our first character pictures of the trip.
Then the one we'd really come to see made her entrance. Daisy Duck.
On both our trips to
Disneyland we had failed to ever meet Daisy Duck.
Daisy was very cute with all the kids, especially our Daisy.
She insisted on a picture of just the two of them together.
Shortly after that our waiter passed out musical instruments and told us Goofy would come lead the kids in a parade.
Goofy came in, the music was turned on, and he led the kids dancing around the room.
Adam and Joey participated, but Daisy declined. The music was fun and all the kids looked cute. After the parade Goofy made his way around the room and when he got to our table I noticed Goofy was TALL! Really tall. The words "Wow Goofy you are tall." Fell out of my mouth. Goofy nodded in agreement. I bet he hears that a lot.
As we finished up breakfast we discussed what to do next. It was almost time to grab another set of Fast Passes, but everything we wanted to Fast Pass was on the other side of the park, and we wanted to stay in Africa and go on the Safari. David said he would go get Dinosaur Fast Passes, so armed with a park map he set off for Dinoland. The rest of us paid for breakfast and then went across the way to shop a bit while we waited for him.
