Hi Cheryl. DW and I originally had DME plans between MCO and WDW and DCL transfers to and from port. Transfers were $35pp each way or about $150 total for both of us.

Then we changed our pre-stay from VWL to Dolphin and lost DME from MCO. We ended up getting a Budget rental for $35 (thanks Mindy) and now have a car to shop for incidentals before we check-in on 5/9 and will drop off right at port. So we now have a car for a little flexibility pre cruise and transfers back to WDW for our post stay and it is cheaper than we originally started with.

I'm not really sure of all the other options but I'm sure others will post on it. Hope this helps.

We're renting a car from Dollar as well (now you've got me worried!), but only for the first leg of our trip. We'll drop it off at Cape Canaveral and then take Disney transport after the cruise, and we'll use Disney transportation the remainder of the trip.

Ok - cruise question. :goodvibes

Can I drop DW off at the port terminal with our luggage for the porters first then do the Budget rental drop off myself? Is that preferable? Am I saving myself anything? Thanks.

I had been thinking about the rental car versus DCL transport decision. I crunched some numbers and decided to stick with the ME/DCL transfers. Between the car rental fee, gas, parking, and tips for luggage ME/DCL transfers worked out better for us. Plus I like the fact we don't have to mess with our luggage when we head for the port. About the only downside is not having a car to stop at the liquor store before the cruise.

Disney transfers are $35 one way, $69 roundtrip to and from the airport only. If you do roundtrip and they include a Disney Resort or the Swan/Dolphin on either end, they price it at two one way trips or $70.

I've always found it funny that Disney charges an extra dollar per person for the roundtrip tranfer if you are going from a WDW resort versus the airport.

Awesome question, this is one area I'm not 100% sure about yet, either.

My DH was watching 24 when I got home. I thought he would want to start watching Lost right away so I have 30 minutes to spare.

I could not keep up in chat last night. Usually I do ok, but I was completely lost last night.

Yah it was going pretty fast. I did a lot better this time.:)

To all you AI watchers, one of the guys is from my "town" He works at the Piano Bar in Kalamazoo (just north of Vicksburg). Call and vote for him, Matt Giraud

Will do.:thumbsup2

Morning all!! I haven't read what I missed from last night, but as soon as I launched my browser this morning, this was the lead story:

It made me think of Jamie.:goodvibes

Off to catch up. Hearts.

That was crazy how big it is!

I'm surprised there isn't more of a difference. Returning to the airport, I would imagine there are fewer drop off locations. Whereas returning to WDW, there are what 22? $1 for all those extra stops is a deal if you break it down into gallons of diesel.

I have never done this, but I have read some stuff about it. First, make sure you have ID to get into the terminal.

I think the real advantage of this is that you don't have to take all your luggage on the shuttle. When we parked at the port I dropped off luggage, DS and DH and then parked the car. By the time I parked and got back across the street they were at the front of the security line.

We can fix this.

I'm taking DCL transfer.

Oh No! I plan on doing the aquaventure! am I going to miss a dis events now :headache: I had a feeling when I was booking all my stuff I knew it was going to be the same time as dis events! bummer!

although on the plus side the aquaventure it is over by 2:15pm

They haven't specifically said when any events will be, but did say that there wasn't available room on the ship to do things on the sea day, so any events would be while we were in port.

Good Question.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I will have passengers arriving at the port, should I stop and give our baggage to the porters, drop off the peeps and then park and walk back to the terminal?

Actually, you won't need to worry about your luggage at all. You will receive a notice in your room telling you to leave your luggage by the door and someone will pick it up. This is great. You will leave your luggage by the door of your room at the BCV and the next time you will see it is when it is delivered to your cabin on the ship. You won't have to shlep it anywhere.

This is just my opinion, but with ME and WDW transportation basically free (I'm sure the fees are in the resort costs) I find the $70 per person round trip DCL transfers pricey.

This is what I'm trying to get details on. I'd be a lot quicker getting back to the port on the rental shuttle without luggage to haul. Even if DW had to sit around the terminal for 30 mintes while I was gone that would be ok. She could take pictures.
