I just booked our first ever cruise on the Dream for May. Any tips and tricks you would like to share? We booked a deluxe suite with veranda so how are the views from the 9th deck if anyone knows?

Just clarifying... Did you book a Verandah cabin or a Suite in Concierge? Because Deck 9 indicates the first but “suite” indicates Concierge which is Deck 11 or 12. You’ll want to get that straight so you are expecting what you get.

Biggest piece of advice either way - know that you cannot do it all. :)

Verandah cabin! My bad on the wrong term! We are very excited for this trip!

You can’t do it all, don’t try to over plan before you go because there will be so much that you’re not going to have time to do and people who look miserable in a rush on the ship are those who are trying to have every single moment booked. You will book another cruise so assume that you can do what you missed the next time around. If you book on board, you get a reduced deposit and a 10% discount so it is well worth it to do so. Even if you don’t go on a second cruise they will refund you your money.

Be prepared to have fun! Took our first cruise in the Mediterrean this past June. It was very port intensive, so I felt like we didn't do a lot of the ship activities. But we had a blast!!!!

It was 8 nights long - and my next cruise, I feel, needs to be longer! :)

And yeah - I booked a placeholder on the last day :)

This was our first, too. We did an Eastern, so the first photo is leaving Port Canaveral, then we headed to Tortola and St. Thomas. I think the second was Tortola, but I could be wrong. It was 2 years ago.

We really enjoyed being on the 9th floor, but the next year we wanted to try Starboard, so our only choice was to go down a level to 8th. It's nice, too, though. I'd choose either quite happily. The 9th makes it easier to take the stairs to the pool/Cabanas on deck 11. Also, we found when the hoards were leaving for excursions or with suitcases at the end, being on the 9th meant we had less waiting for elevators. People on the 7th or 6th would get a full elevator opening up to them, so would have to wait until then next empty one came by. Little things.

My tip is to stay on the ship on Nassau day. The dream cruises are just too short to enjoy the ship unless you skip a port, and Nassau is definitely skip-able. Also, if you want to do Palo, try to get the lunch and not the dinner so you don't miss out on the main dining rooms, which are great!

So a little update, an extended verandah on 10 deck became available from the back of the ship and I snagged it. Anyone ever stayed in one of those?
