Sorry for delay will try to reply to everyone and try not to reply to same person twice, was once again getting treatment so hadn't got on the forums!
Also a second letter was sent that following day
"I just wanted to say how I was upset with my Easter limited magic band I got, and now I fear for the previous limited editions.
Let me start off by saying I bought the Easter band after loving the Christmas and Halloween band, but was disappointed as it didn't work at fast pass points. Only main entrance of each park (and by work I mean activate the special effect) I've done some research and I guess only park exclusive bands work at that parks fast pass points, while ones sold everywhere only work at the gates but at all parks. I feel there should be a discription on the limited edition bands informing guests what to expect instead of them relaying on previous bands for expectations, I was heartbroken. I don't want a refund just want my voice heard how this is wrong!
Secondly these limited edition bands cost now over $30 but what is the life expectancy how long will these bands we are paring for activate thier special effect since no way to replace battery? I've read that part of the band such as fast pass and entrance points could work indefinitely but some features could eventually shut off, this is another I can't believe Disney would do this issue. A warning of life expectancy for limited editions would also be nice since we are paying a nice bit of money for these items.
I love Disney and have never had an issue until now but I feel cheated that not all bands work at fast pass points, and that eventually these rare bands could become useless and unresponsive.
Again I don't want a refund I know it said so on box no refund, but I do want someone to hear my voice and complaint as someone who goes several times a year and will be heading back in a little over a week.
Sincerely Cameron Watkins"
The battery isn't replaceable but it still works after the battery dies. The battery is used for long range effects like getting ride photos. Anywhere you tap the band like for fast passes should work forever.
I'm hoping that this remains true because it would suck if one day these pricy bands suddenly stopped activating what is the main part you pay for.
First, Disney rarely disregards complaints. They may determine that they will not make changes, but they are respectful about how people feel. Not everyone aced creative writing and they know that. If in order to be heard (or read) we all needed perfect grammar and decent formatting of sentences and paragraphs, well.....Most of us ( and if your post is indicative of your writing style, you as well) would be ignored.
When I first read the complaint I also thought it was too minor to worry about, but I changed my mind. Magic Bands cannot be returned, I did not know that. So....if I make a purchase of a product I have used in the past, and the performance of the product has diminished without any notice to me, the consumer, I should not voice my concerns? I can't return the product, and it does not work to the standard of those I have purchased previously. How is this okay? If I could return the product, that would be different, but I cannot. I am stuck with it.
We all have the right to determine what is an issue and what is not, and we do not need to have a concensus in order to be validated. I believe that in this case, we are seeing one more of the "little" things in terms of merchandise that Disney sells that no longer lives up to the earlier standards of Disney products. Many people believe that Disney has been making us in quality, sliding down a path that leaves us holding broken or poorly made items that we pay a premium for, and if you do not believe that....ask e and thousands of our closest friends about those Christmas lights that worked for all of an hour. It was so bad that CM's were exchanging them as folks were waiting for the MSEP to start...handing them out like Mardi Gras beads. But those were exchangeable. I think the OP has a point, and I support that
thank you! Even I agree my post was sloppy which there were reasons for it being that way I should have reviewed it but I'm glad it's a legit concern as like you said we all have them on different issues.
For you it is not an issue. For the OP it is.
The OP posted that another letter was written. The first was written when upset and while hooked up to IVs.
and one was as I posted it to top of this reply.
I can see that it is very important to you that Disney managers understand your complaint about this product. You might want someone to help you rewrite your letter. It is not at all clear to the reader what you are trying to say. For starters, a couple dozen periods might help the situation. I suggest you get some help with a rewrite, and then resend it.
I agree and I did a rewrite that was much more clear and to the point.
Sorry, I missed that another letter was written. I saw where he said he probably should write one. There's no probably to it. If he wants to be taken seriously. And based on how upset he is, I suspect he does.
I am upset and I did rewrite, but even though it was no excuse most of the typos were from needles in my hand I was stir crazy and just wanted to send the email.
Oops. Now I see, there's a couple posts where he said would probably or thought about a second.
One was written don't worry!
@disneydude365 I just wanted to say that I've read a lot of your posts here on the boards and have really enjoyed them. I love your enthusiasm for Disney and your love of characters (meet and greets are probably my favorite thing!). I also admire how you take the time to respond to everyone's posts.
As far as the magic band complaint, I can understand why you would be upset. I would not be a happy to pay money for something that did not do what I expected it to, especially if that feature was included in the past and then taken away without warning before I purchased. Even more so since it can't be returned!
There are some people on here that don't think it's a big deal, and that's fine. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions. There are a lot of things people complain about on these boards that I don't understand or agree with. I usually don't say anything and just move on to the next thread. I once posted (what I thought was) an innocent question, and that thread turned into what I felt was an attack on my parenting. Got to love the internet!
Anyway, I'm sure your post helped someone. We've learned that magic bands can't be returned and that there are limited edition bands that may not have as many special effects as previous ones. And hopefully you also felt better getting to vent about it.

Hope everyone has a great day. And for those with trips coming up soon, have a magical trip!
well I'm glad you like my posts I write them hoping people will

And I try to reply to everyone because they took the time to reply to me, and deserve a response I believe. I know on internet you can't ever know what reactions you will get lol, and I'm happy you and some people think this post informed and helps some people! I can't wait for the trip (day at MK night with pirate and palls!!)
OP does have a valid complaint, I just think the letter they sent was overly dramatic.
"I'm heart sick having to write this email"
"is just cruel if its not gonna work everywhere"
"I'm praying this doesn't affect my upcoming vacation experience"
A magic band not making a sound everywhere just doesn't warrant using heart sick, cruel and the need for prayers in the complaint IMO. If anything, I think it takes away from their valid complaint.
To me the emotions came from this was first time sincerely I've ever been let down by Disney and while I was in the hospital sometimes I get even more emotional which resulted in that emotional, unfocused complaint lol
