first ever complaint for Disney (disappointed guest)

DS bought a top price special one last year that ended up doing nothing - a month later they released another special one for same character that did trigger effects - FOR LESS. He was upset as he should have been. I don't blame you for your disappointment.

The whole designed MB product line is brilliant on Disney's part but it would be nice to have a uniform price/like product like they had when it started.

I know at these climbing prices we will be less likely to buy more.

magic bands are non refundable and honestly I don't like asking for a refund to begin with. But I do like it just felt like part is missing lol
After I posted I realized you had probably purchased through the "shop" app and it was linked to your MDE.

Glad you like it enough to keep it as you do have a good argument to get a refund. A Disney shop could have it removed from your MDE by IT.

Hopefully Ethan will test one out soon and confirm if it activates sounds at the FP tapstiles.

Any company can charge what they chose for a product. I do think, as you said, they should have been clearer if there were changes to the function of the bands. Hopefully you can write them, and Disney will be sympathetic enough and take the band back. well i did write one, wasn't the best grammar letter so i may write an updated version under my second email,

I myself am hoping for a cool one this fall. A Halloween one that has sound affects is something I would buy in a flash!
every halloween I've seen has been very cool, mine fro last year made the light look like a pumpkin green on top and orange all around, and a wolf howled it was very cool!

I personally have the Olaf in summer magic band ( the original special ed) I personally never heard mine make a sound anywhere, I'm not sure if it's because my hearing sucks or I got a bum one. The lights are different colors and that throws CM at times.
i had heard of the olaf but was before i was into them i know i love some of the cast members reactions to my halloween band that don't expect it.

Hey Cameron,
Sorry to hear that you were (are still?) in the hospital. I know how important your trips to Disney are to you, and I'm sure you'll have a great time!

And hey, I learned something new from you: I had no clue that MB's cannot be returned! Thank you!

Have fun on your trip and feel better!
i am out and safe in my bed at home relaxing, i have to go once a week for an infusion so not the drama (kim possible lol) thank you :) and despite this minor issue I'm still very much looking forward to this upcoming trip!! and I'm glad you learned that i learned it too lol

i agree it seemed like they had a set price like based on the level then they all got 12% increase in price which i was okay with but not if they are gonna take away effects. I'm sorry your son got cheated out of effect altogether :(

well technically its not linked up yet i don't think and its not showing up in my account i just remember being told that once purchased they are non refundable, but i do like it. hopefully he will but with santa and valintines day not producing any results the odds aren't very good :/ honestly just a bad call on disney to reduce the effect

Disney is the happiest place on earth...but it's apparent this board isn't. I guess every where in life you will find the rude people. Looking for things to poke fun at. What do people call them? Internet trolls? He didn't ask if you liked his letter or his grammar. In the words of thumper. "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all."

So why post the email here if not to start a discussion. People commenting that they think it's small potatoes does not necessarily make the. Internet trolls imo. There was no question in OPs post so it is fair to think OP is looking to start a general conversation about the email.

the original post was looking to vent as I've seen several people on this forum do when they have issues, if a discussion followed i wasn't expecting it but would want to at least warn people wanting to buy it to know its not the same as the ones they sold last year they do less but cost more. say someone buys it in the park on last day or they are only there one day, well they are screwed they won't get to see the effect because it only works at main gate entrance
i think some people would like to be informed
but you know just saying

Yeah, I've got no beef with you OP, you've done a great job replying to everyone and I support your letter to Disney. I just didn't like people being labeled trolls because they disagree with someone! (Which you didn't do)

Hope you have a blast on your next trip and wish you the best!

I understand your complaint & I'd be disappointed as well if I received something that turned out to be different from what I'd been led to expect in the past. I have the Anna/Elsa F&G band, and I have to say it's gotten the most attention at the front gate! Sometimes I've been asked to "do it again!" for a child. I love that these bands can make others smile, not just us. If you decide to keep your band, I'm sure you will enjoy it, even if it's not what you had anticipated.

To everyone responding: please try and show a little compassion. Trust me.
Thank you for this suggestion. Things aren't always clear to a third party.

well I already sent it I may send a second one that's a little neater buy as I said I was in the hospital Ina Previous reply I was in hospital when writing .

It's wonderful that you aren't offended by the comments here, and I completely understand the need to have something to occupy your time when you're getting a transfusion.

However, it never hurts to draft a letter of complaint, and then put it to the side for a bit. Disney won't care if they get the letter today or tomorrow, and you'll be able to check your grammar and spelling at your leisure.

As for why bother... Companies are FAR more likely to give thought to your complaint if it's well articulated and easy to read. And that's the whole point behind using correct grammar and spelling - it makes it easier to read. As a side bonus, correct spelling and grammar also give your reader the impression that you are an educated, reasonable, intelligent person (even when you're not ;)).

And, hey, editing your work will give you something else to do during those long boring hours! :thumbsup2

(Full disclosure - I tutor kids in elementary reading, writing and math. We've had this conversation many times!)

I've learned to try and not get offended some people will say things that honestly have no intention of hurting someone and some will, you never can tell. I've seriously thought about sending a second letter from my secondary email account (wouldn't hurt o give to flags ha)
i love to read and write honestly lol been an english major lol so yeah reviewing it now i see all the errors but i was tired and working with hands having needles in them lol.
thanks!

So you are saying it's ok to raise the price but have less affect?

You said you've already accepted that ticket prices will rise. To many, they are doing exactly what you've been told is happening with the bands. Less stuff for a higher price. You've accepted that the big prices will be increased so to me being irritated with a tiny increase makes no sense. Or, at least recognize that you're cool with higher prices with less for it in some ways, but not with you're band.

Are you by chance not the one paying for the tickets? If so it makes sense that it doesn't bother you.

By the way, what seems to be your full name is in your email. Might want to edit that off of a message board.

Eta, fun with unnoticed autocorrects!

"latin for tickets?" no clue what thats supposed to mean we all have things that we don't like or that bother us. the fact for me is the bands its disney ticket prices have always been going up

wanting a warning that the bands that for past years have done something now do not is not a crime or unreasonable or overreacting

Yep! I hear you. I have a learning disability which makes it hard for me to notice sometimes when I've missed a word, or dropped out a syllable. So, I never send anything without letting it sit for awhile first - I like to claim it's "ripening". ;) Even with posts, I reread before I post, then I will read it again after I've posted it, to make any ninja-edits necessary. (Sadly, I still sometimes miss stuff. :p)

One tried and true rule of writing and publishing…
You can't proof-read your own work.

Very true! But, for things like letters of complaint to corporations or (especially!) posts on a message board, you often don't want to bother your friends by asking them to proof-read for you. So, you do your best! :)

(As I always tell my kids, "Take your time! There's no need to rush.")

Remember you are talking to someone who has typed, self-proofread... and corrected... the better part of 88 thousand posts.

I agree- if the bands have changed to only one sound upon entry that should be made VERY clear when they are purchased. Then we can decide if we still want them! ( I didn't know they couldn't be returned- thanks for the heads-up.) Another thing is since you are going to Disney soon, maybe talking to someone there directly in customer service wouldn't be a bad idea. I think it's easier to ignore a written letter than it is a person right there with a valid complaint. I'm not sure WHICH customer service place would be best- maybe someone could advise?
