first ever complaint for Disney (disappointed guest)

Is this for real?
yes it is and just because others didnt voice it themselves I've already had a few people thank me for pointing out this little effect
also if you pay for something and its more than you paid before and theres no warning of change that is fault on the sellers side and is technically false advertising a simple note saying what it does would help avoid confusion.

I've done some research the bands that work at fast pass+ points are limited edition, but also specifically sold at the park it works at like the party bands, the flower and garden band. Now the bands like santa, easter, and valentines from my understanding were sold everywhere meaning they weren't tied to specific park therfore resulting in working at all of them they cut out fast pass+ and gave each park entrance access to the effect. i could be way off base but that is my reasoning on whats happening if you want one that works on fast pass find ones that are park specific.
AND disney really should put a description about each limited edition band and what it effect actually is and where it gets activated.
and also there is a difference between limited release and limited edition. LR are ones with designs that won't be around long and are specific like the zootopia, run disney stuff like that and will only be sold for a set amount of time. LE are the ones that have capability to add sounds and lights at the touchpoints and also have a design and a special box, also only a set number will be sold.

They are cute, I like that they have sound effects. I just am weird about spending extra money for them since the battery isn't user replaceable that I'm aware of..

The battery isn't replaceable but it still works after the battery dies. The battery is used for long range effects like getting ride photos. Anywhere you tap the band like for fast passes should work forever.

I've tried and tried to understand why this is something to be so upset about I stopped to write a letter
I just can't. It is so not not an issue
And I did buy the valentine band
And I wasn't angry when it only worked at the gate and is different than my Food and Wine band
I don't feel like I got less of a product. It does everything a MB is supposed to do. The only difference is it looks pretty.
I can't ever hear the sound, the parks and gates are just too loud

I do hope you can calm down and write a letter that is more coherent. I'm afraid of you sent exactly what was posted here they just disregarded it. To be taken seriously it needs to make sense to the reader

First, Disney rarely disregards complaints. They may determine that they will not make changes, but they are respectful about how people feel. Not everyone aced creative writing and they know that. If in order to be heard (or read) we all needed perfect grammar and decent formatting of sentences and paragraphs, well.....Most of us ( and if your post is indicative of your writing style, you as well) would be ignored.

When I first read the complaint I also thought it was too minor to worry about, but I changed my mind. Magic Bands cannot be returned, I did not know that. So....if I make a purchase of a product I have used in the past, and the performance of the product has diminished without any notice to me, the consumer, I should not voice my concerns? I can't return the product, and it does not work to the standard of those I have purchased previously. How is this okay? If I could return the product, that would be different, but I cannot. I am stuck with it.

We all have the right to determine what is an issue and what is not, and we do not need to have a concensus in order to be validated. I believe that in this case, we are seeing one more of the "little" things in terms of merchandise that Disney sells that no longer lives up to the earlier standards of Disney products. Many people believe that Disney has been making us in quality, sliding down a path that leaves us holding broken or poorly made items that we pay a premium for, and if you do not believe that....ask e and thousands of our closest friends about those Christmas lights that worked for all of an hour. It was so bad that CM's were exchanging them as folks were waiting for the MSEP to start...handing them out like Mardi Gras beads. But those were exchangeable. I think the OP has a point, and I support that

For you it is not an issue. For the OP it is.

The OP posted that another letter was written. The first was written when upset and while hooked up to IVs.

I love Disney so much and magic bands but it's been bright to my attention that Disney has let its guests down I write my first complaint email I don't expect anything in return but now I am warning other guests of what I think is wrong that Disney chose to do.
"let me start off saying i am a huge disney fan i try to go home about 2-3 times a year, and I've never been let down before, always top notch service. which is why I'm heart sick having to write this email, Halloween 2015 i attended the Mickeys halloween party and had the limited magic band that light the fast pass and entrance scanners and gave a howl! it was so much fun. however getting ready for my upcoming trip as you can see by the reservation, and i went ahead an ordered the limited easter band i was so excited about it and then today (still waiting for mine to arrive) i saw it used in the park tweeting snow whites blue bird a very festive sound, however I've been informed it only works at the entrance scanner not the fast pass, and its been going around the valentines day was the same, i paid More for the easter band as i did my halloween band but i get less! I'm very saddened that disney would do this and honestly this has made me regret even getting the band at all i was looking forward to the random of it activating when using fast pass, ill be honest knowing thaw this is at least the second limited band to have this setting is just cruel if its not gonna work everywhere lower the price to the ones that do! i honestly just feel cheated and I'm praying this doesn't affect my upcoming vacation experience but i wanted to reach out and let you know whats going on is wrong! i may be wrong in my info but every source I've found says that both the Santa, valentines and the easter (which easter i bought) only work at the entrance if its true after years of limited bands working everywhere someone needs to stand up and just say this is WRONG please don't think of me as what cast members call "treasured guest" I'm just honestly an upset guest the first time disney has let me down. -With all due respect Cameron Watkins"

So that us the letter I wrote I seriously think it is very unfair that they raided the price of theses limited bands but instead of adding effects they took them away. Know that it has been confirmed all magicbands have been raised in price not only the limited edition but all band prices by 12%
I'll say it again charging more but giving back less is not the Disney I know
I'm tempted to give a call in person but I hate confrontation and it's my first actual complaint but I feel strongly that p inside Disney need to know this isn't right

I can see that it is very important to you that Disney managers understand your complaint about this product. You might want someone to help you rewrite your letter. It is not at all clear to the reader what you are trying to say. For starters, a couple dozen periods might help the situation. I suggest you get some help with a rewrite, and then resend it.

Sorry, I missed that another letter was written. I saw where he said he probably should write one. There's no probably to it. If he wants to be taken seriously. And based on how upset he is, I suspect he does.

Oops. Now I see, there's a couple posts where he said would probably or thought about a second.

@disneydude365 I just wanted to say that I've read a lot of your posts here on the boards and have really enjoyed them. I love your enthusiasm for Disney and your love of characters (meet and greets are probably my favorite thing!). I also admire how you take the time to respond to everyone's posts.
As far as the magic band complaint, I can understand why you would be upset. I would not be a happy to pay money for something that did not do what I expected it to, especially if that feature was included in the past and then taken away without warning before I purchased. Even more so since it can't be returned!
There are some people on here that don't think it's a big deal, and that's fine. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions. There are a lot of things people complain about on these boards that I don't understand or agree with. I usually don't say anything and just move on to the next thread. I once posted (what I thought was) an innocent question, and that thread turned into what I felt was an attack on my parenting. Got to love the internet!
Anyway, I'm sure your post helped someone. We've learned that magic bands can't be returned and that there are limited edition bands that may not have as many special effects as previous ones. And hopefully you also felt better getting to vent about it. :)
Hope everyone has a great day. And for those with trips coming up soon, have a magical trip! :)

It is so not not an issue...

Sorry, and at the risk of
deadhorse.gif
, I'm confused. Are you saying it's an issue, or it's not an issue?

OP does have a valid complaint, I just think the letter they sent was overly dramatic.

"I'm heart sick having to write this email"
"is just cruel if its not gonna work everywhere"
"I'm praying this doesn't affect my upcoming vacation experience"

A magic band not making a sound everywhere just doesn't warrant using heart sick, cruel and the need for prayers in the complaint IMO. If anything, I think it takes away from their valid complaint.

Who said anything about perfect grammar? There is a major difference between easy to read/coherent and perfect grammar.
If they can't understand the complaint then they can't really address it, can they?
That's all I meant.
I hope OP rewords his letter. Punctuation and capitalization will do wonders.

Sorry for delay will try to reply to everyone and try not to reply to same person twice, was once again getting treatment so hadn't got on the forums!

Also a second letter was sent that following day

"I just wanted to say how I was upset with my Easter limited magic band I got, and now I fear for the previous limited editions.

Let me start off by saying I bought the Easter band after loving the Christmas and Halloween band, but was disappointed as it didn't work at fast pass points. Only main entrance of each park (and by work I mean activate the special effect) I've done some research and I guess only park exclusive bands work at that parks fast pass points, while ones sold everywhere only work at the gates but at all parks. I feel there should be a discription on the limited edition bands informing guests what to expect instead of them relaying on previous bands for expectations, I was heartbroken. I don't want a refund just want my voice heard how this is wrong!
Secondly these limited edition bands cost now over $30 but what is the life expectancy how long will these bands we are paring for activate thier special effect since no way to replace battery? I've read that part of the band such as fast pass and entrance points could work indefinitely but some features could eventually shut off, this is another I can't believe Disney would do this issue. A warning of life expectancy for limited editions would also be nice since we are paying a nice bit of money for these items.
I love Disney and have never had an issue until now but I feel cheated that not all bands work at fast pass points, and that eventually these rare bands could become useless and unresponsive.
Again I don't want a refund I know it said so on box no refund, but I do want someone to hear my voice and complaint as someone who goes several times a year and will be heading back in a little over a week.

Sincerely Cameron Watkins"

I'm hoping that this remains true because it would suck if one day these pricy bands suddenly stopped activating what is the main part you pay for.

thank you! Even I agree my post was sloppy which there were reasons for it being that way I should have reviewed it but I'm glad it's a legit concern as like you said we all have them on different issues.

For you it is not an issue. For the OP it is.

and one was as I posted it to top of this reply.

I agree and I did a rewrite that was much more clear and to the point.

I am upset and I did rewrite, but even though it was no excuse most of the typos were from needles in my hand I was stir crazy and just wanted to send the email.

One was written don't worry!

well I'm glad you like my posts I write them hoping people will :) And I try to reply to everyone because they took the time to reply to me, and deserve a response I believe. I know on internet you can't ever know what reactions you will get lol, and I'm happy you and some people think this post informed and helps some people! I can't wait for the trip (day at MK night with pirate and palls!!)

To me the emotions came from this was first time sincerely I've ever been let down by Disney and while I was in the hospital sometimes I get even more emotional which resulted in that emotional, unfocused complaint lol

If we bought another band with special

also if you pay for something and its more than you paid before and theres no warning of change that is fault on the sellers side and is technically false advertising a simple note saying what it does would help avoid confusion.

I disagree. There's no fault here, but the consumer has a responsibility too, to ensure rather than assume the new purchase is identical to the previous purchase. Also, the sellers can reasonably be expected not to know that one same customer is purchasing additional versions of a given item.

And it sounds like what you want is packaging that says, "this version doesn't do as much as the old model." Horrible marketing suggestion.

Currently magicband limited editions have no warning on the box at all so it's not crazy to assume they all work the same I'm not saying it to be a down market idea but just that this is an exclusive park band, this band world at all parks, or something along those lines
That's just it while it is similar items each is unique and you can't say the Halloween band is the same as the Christmas band that just won't work

Right now only thing on the box is no refunds. A little more discription even if it's just a general label covering all types saying limited bands have the capabilities to do special sound and light affects at certain points accross walt Disney world parks would be a good info to have

Horrible marketing suggestion? So you think it's better Disney keeps its gusts in the dark and then they be out the money hmm that seems like bad business to me but what do I know lol

Sometimes, the truth is a horrible marketing suggestion.
