First Disney World trip as a couple

Hey guys! I'm new around here and was wondering if anybody has any advice for me. In the spring, my boyfriend and I are planning a trip to the parks. This will be his first trip, but my 19th. We're both 19 and intend to be at the very least engaged by then. It actually may end up being a honeymoon trip but I was wondering if you guys had any tips to share about making it easy and fun for him when it's all so unfamiliar whereas I know the parks pretty well. Thanks!

My thoughts are since you've been so many times, try to get to the parks at rope drop and get the popular rides done early. Then take a break and head back to the parks later to do some of the other rides. When I first took my BF to WDW, we were commando and didn't make for the best first impressions!

Main thing is to relax and have fun!

My first trip with my husband was so magical!

My suggestions

- Get pictures in front of the castle
- Eat at CRT. Something about eating in the castle is so romantic and all the Princesses made a huge deal over me being there with "my prince"
- If you can swing the $$, a private wishes fireworks cruise is AMAZING. Most romantic thing I have ever done and by far the highlight of my disneymoon.
- Tomorrowland Terrace fireworks dessert party; get a ressie! You won't regret it!
- Pre park opening breakfast, a very magical way to be introduced to WDW.
- Signature dining, again, romantic! Especially with a fireworks view (can you tell I love Wishes?)
- Don't rush for rope drop if you aren't normally early risers.
- Take afternoon breaks if you want to.
- See downtown Disney! We had a BLAST in Disneyquest!
- See characters! Especially if you have your happily ever after buttons!

I was thinking starting the day off early would be good but that we'd want some time by ourselves so that's an awesome idea! Especially at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom, days that start at rope drop are so exciting! Thanks for the help!

I haven't eaten at CRT since I was little that would be so much fun!
Is the Tomorrowland Dessert Party usually pretty full? That was my only concern with that one
If it does end up being a honeymoon trip (fingers crossed) I'll have to look further into the cruise! Only thing is Wishes makes me bawl like a baby every time! All the feels
I haven't been to Disney Quest in quite some time so I bet that would be so much fun to conquer as a couple!
I was thinking Brown Derby for a signature dining experience because I adore the atmosphere and the food there, but do you have any suggestions?
I can't wait for all the cute character pictures we can take so I'm definitely looking forward to that!

I have taken two boyfriends to Disney and one turned out to be my husband. I always figured if they couldn't handle Disney, then they weren't meant for me.

One of them had never been to Disney before so I tried to take a back seat to my normal planning obsession. I chose the resort and ADR's (knowing what he would and wouldn't like of course) and ordered maps of the parks so he could get an idea of all there was to do. He chose the attractions we went on and which parks to do on which days. Frankly I went on so many attractions that trip that I normally skip by and I loved it.

IMO the most important thing is to take the back seat. Don't overwhelm a first timer with "we have to do this" and "we can't miss that" or "that's not any fun". Let things happen naturally and I think you will both have a wonderful time.

That's wonderful advice! It's so easy for me to get carried away with the planning but I appreciate the reminder to let things happen naturally! I couldn't agree more with the "If they can't handle Disney they aren't for me"! Haha words to date by!

I think most of us DISers can get carried away with the planning. After all, that's half the fun. I am glad I ended up marrying a guy that understands my Disney obsession. He certainly isn't the Disney fanatic like I am, but he definitely appreciates a Disney vacation and has no problem turning on his inner child as soon as we get to the airport. I hope you both have a blast and good luck with your impending engagement.
