Hello! I have spent hours on this forum and have decided that y'all are the cruise gurus and that I am SO not.... ;) I would greatly appreciate some help narrowing down a few cruises we are considering. I am the only one in the family who has cruised before (Carnival in the late 90's-early 2000's). It will be DH, DD (7) and DD (8). Due to some personal issues with hubby (PTSD and TBI), we have narrowed our search down to the Magic, mainly based on size of ship and crowds. So we are looking at Jan 10th sailing (5 night), Jan 24th (5 night) or January 6 (4 night) or January 20th (4 night). The first 2 have the same itinerary as do the 2nd. Ports aren't a deciding factor for us, as we have traveled both to Grand Caymen and Cozumel. The price difference in a 1BR concierge on them is almost 1k. My thoughts are to go for the 4 night, take the 1k and apply it to a new booking on line. This is where y'all come in ;) Am I crazy to give up another night? All of these are sailing out of Miami, which not a bad drive for us (neither is PC). Any major cons for sailing from Miami vs PC? Do any of those dates jump out to you as better than others? Thanks so much for your help!! <3

I am not a guru at all (just begun to plan my first DCL) but 1k extra for 1 night? If I understood that correct then def go with the 4 nights... just MHO

I would always say go for more nights, but with your husband's special circumstances, I'd probably go less. You want to make sure it's not too much if he's not enjoying it, and if it goes well, then you know & book longer for next time. He might be comfortable right off the bat knowing he's not on for too long.

Thanks for the help! You confirmed what I *thought* but it is always nice to hear more from those who know!

For our first cruise I did four nights to make certain that we'd like a ship! We've been hooked ever since.

With the PTSD, be sure to book a verandah room. My hubby suffers from same due to military service, and the verandah is his safe place whenever he gets over crowded.
