:sad2: Just had a call today from First choice re our flifhts in 4 days time.
Friday 20th dep from Glasgow will now be in the standard 757 not the new long hall 767 with extra leg room and seat back T.vv,s etc. Very dissapointed.
Also we now have a stop over for fuel in Bangor Maine in US with extra 1.5 Hrs on too flights. Do you think we have any come back with First choice?
We booked with them due to being direct and new planes etc
Any advice?

Check the small print. It may say that they can change the aeroplane at any time. Also the 1.5 hour "stopover" may only be regarded as a short delay.

Sorry that it probably isn't the answer you wanted.

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 You are probably right but we are going to argue for an upgrade if they have such a thing on a 757. Still makes you very anoyed as they trumpet their new star service but dont deliver it. :confused3 :confused3

Hello :wave2:

Am afraid this is probably the case. Airlines will be able to change planes as they wish, The only come back you may have is regarding the stopover, However as this is only 1.5 hours I would assume they are within their timelimit.

In our party there are 9 people on a TCD flight and 2 on a flight with an Amercian airline, The American flight should have taken off from Manchester 30 mins after TCD and landed 15 mins before at Sanford. Now the American airline as put back flights by 4 hours which means that we will land 4 hours ahead and have to go to villa then somebody has to return to airport to collect them! - Assuming of course the TCD flights dont change aswell

Still anoying though !!!

Thanks

Upgrades on a 757 will be to an 'extra leg room seat', which will basically mean a seat by one of the exit doors. I thought they stopped using 757's years ago on the Orlando routes? The last time we had one was back in 1992! The stopover at Bangor isn't too bad, they open up the doors of the plane and allow you wander round the plane, but chances are you won't be allowed to get off. A long time ago when you stopped at Bangor to refuel they used to get everyone off and get everyone through imigration there where it was quiet, but that stopped when the charter airlines moved from MCO upto Sanford.

Have never flown with First Choice but a few years ago we went with Virgin. They didnt letus know beforehand, but they had chartered a plane to replace one still in maintenance. No seat back tv. Worse a pull down screen with a video recorder. Only one for the whole cabin! No apologies nothing. Not interested, everyone offered a complaint form but nothing offered by way of comp. As you said it was in the small print. Have never fown with them since. Just my way of protesting.

Every airline has the option to replace the scheduled plane with an alternative. Most airlines have most of their planes in the sky at any given time, because while they are on the ground they aren't making money. So, if a plane develops a fault, they either need to delay the flight, or find a replacement plane from a limited number that aren't sheduled to be in use. Which would you prefer, a 10+ hour delay to your flight, or a replacement plane of any standard? I know what I'd choose, and its not the delay.

If you book a holiday flight on the strengh that you are getting a new service (star service with First Choice) Seat back tv extra leg room etc .....
Then you end up with a bog standard 757 (3 in 3) seating with a stop!!!
That makes you a wee bit anoyed. The reason they will use the old plane from Glasgow is that in May they will not have sold enough seats to fill the new 767,s BUT of course they will not say that when booking. Scots get the raw deal. Into the bargin rival airlines are now lots cheeper than first choice thought we might pay a little more for a new service but we will get a Plane which will hardly get across the Atlantic before we fall for fuel.
Had to tell kids to about now back seat tv etc all very dissapointed. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

The FCA 757 fleet i expect (Not that i have checked all the fleet for you) will be 757-200's across the board offering 233 seats in all standard class config of 3-3. I havent heard of any of them having a 1st class area. I am afraid this is just not up to the standard that they woowed you with on the sales pitch talking about the wonderful Star Class in the 767. The standard pitch is 28/29in pitch which cant live with the 31in on Virgin and 33in for the FCA Star class. You have a right to be truly disappointed but no come back on the airlne unless you feel so strong and be resiliant that they let you have a full refund and you go elsewhere. Good luck

Annoying!

We flew with First Choice a few years ago & they changed our depature time, date & airport!!! Which in turn messed up our Disney Cruise (booked with first choice) Which if not for our vigilance when arriving at MCO we would have totaly missed the cruise as when we arrived the cruise tickets First choice gave us where for the cruise which had gone the previous week!!!!
Needless to say we are going with Virgin (for the 2nd time)

we are flying with first choice in june, is this a permanent move or just for your flight?

This year will be the first time I will experience a back-seat TV (and I haven't only been to Florida)...

I won't be complaining if I 'only' get a pulldown screen - it's better than nothing.
Yes, I know you pay for an expected service (as I have*), but just remember that you're going to Florida :)

And stop-overs aren't all that bad (yes, it takes 90mins, but you're nearly there!). Just try to think of the positive.

The other day I was complaining that I wouldn't be able to afford to buy anything nice (not even a simple dress) to wear on my 21st birthday (I will be wearing jeans and a top that I already own - probably with trainers!) - then my boyfriend woke me up by pointing out that I'd be in Florida for my 21st birthday, and how many people get to do that?

*I paid for the Ultimate Park Hopper ticket but will now probably only get the 21-day Ultimate Ticket (which would have been cheaper!).

while I respect your positive outlook :sunny:

I do not book any flight as long as it gets me to florida, when booking with first choice, I chose them because of the direct flights available, also the premium cabin seemed to have quite good legroom available, and of course small backrest tv etc.

When I pay for this I expect to recieve it and would feel, as I'm sure my blue nosed friend may too ;) , aggrieved that I did not.

I hope you enjoy your trip!

I pointed out that I also paid for something I won't get too. And I am also paying Virgin with the expectation that I will get a backseat TV, but it won't destroy my holiday if it doesn't all go exactly as planned.

If it's in the small-print or whatever that they can change things around, then so be it. You know this when you're booking.

Yes, it's not fair. I agree - but what business ever is?

VSL the 21 day Ultimate Ticket is a park hopper ticket and so is exactly the same thing. From the way I understand it the Ultimate Ticket was a park hopper ticket specially designed for the UK market hence the different name for a ticket that was essentially the same thing - I think it was just changed so they could determine where it was bought.

Returning to the topic of this thread I really sympathise with you on this. I think it might be might looking into putting in a complaint about this especially since you have paid for seat upgrades and it doesn't look as though you will receive them if they change the plane. I would suggest that you have a look on www.holidaytruths.co.uk they have lots of advice on the legislation that may help.
