So I'm heading to the World this coming week and I noticed the forecast for Sunday day & night calls for thundershowers. I was curious if the fireworks shows and cruises are able to take place during that kind of rain. I have a fireworks illuminations cruise on Sunday that I am worried about.

They have the fireworks rain or shine, however i"m not sure about the cruises...

Three years ago, we did Illuminations from Breathless in a light rain. I've watched the fireworks in the rain before that.

Illuminations will go off in the rain. We've seen the cruise boats being prepared with the captains setting out lots of towels and blanket for the guests because they will get wet. Your cruise could be cancelled if the storms are severe but for the most part, you should plan on being there for it. At the very least, you can still go into Epcot and watch Illuminations from around World Showcase since you'll be right there. It's not the cruise, but the show will still go on.

The only nighttime show they cancel is Fantasmic because of the performers. It would be dangerous to do their act with the set all slippery. But as long as there is no thunderstorm or lightning, then the cruises still go on. The fireworks will still be on through a thunderstorm. One summer we watched Illuminations during a thunderstorm (it was just finishing up). It was very cool because some lightning bolts were perfectly in tune with the music.
