Finding love after divorce, has it happened to you?

I've given up hope on meeting Mr Right. Sometimes, I think I'm just meant to be single. :sad2: I've been divorced 4 or 5 years and only had a handful of dates. I'm leary of the dating websites, I'm fairly shy & not the most confident person. Also, I swear most of the men around my age (30) are about as mature as my DS13. :confused3

My marriage to my first husband lasted just shy of 9 years.. Our relationship was all "love and romance" right from the beginning.. After we married though, it didn't take me long to figure out that it wasn't going to last "forever".. Still - I kept hanging on - hoping he would change - because I didn't want to be a "divorce statistic".. Then one day he did something that seriously endangered the life of our youngest child (she was 2 then) and that very same day I filed for a divorce..

After that I was pretty disillusioned and not interested in getting married again.. Then I met my second DH.. Our relationship started out as just being very good friends.. Eventually the friendship and respect we had for each other developed into a deep and lasting love which eventually led to marriage.. (He had also been married once before as well..) When he passed away in 2005, it was just shy of our 28th wedding anniversary..

When I think back on it now, I really believe that being friends first had a lot to do with our marriage being a success.. I'm sure it's not that way with everyone, but for me, being all "starry-eyed" about my first husband allowed me to overlook warning signs that I should have seen prior to getting married..

There's no "one-size-fits-all" in a situation such as this.. It's a very individulaized process..:goodvibes

About 6 months after my separation from ex-h, I was goofing off on ICQ and stumbled across a guy who had alot of the same interests as me. So I sent him a message (very unusual for me to do as Im very shy) but turns out we started talking and became friends. He was dating someone long distance at the time. After a couple of months we finally met and the sparks just really flew. It was like everything fell into place at that moment and we were meant to be together! So he dumped his ex-gf and we started dating. We lived together for 4 years before we married and now we've been hitched for 6 years. I couldn't be happier! He's the best thing to ever happen to me. This is also his 2nd marriage as well.

Okay, don't laugh at me (lol), but what's pshaw??? Yeah, I'd say my profile describes me pretty accurately and I'd like to think I'm pretty funny; so there is a splash of humor here and there in it. I'd pursue the wink if they didn't disappear after I winked back. :confused3

I know...I know...going to find some cheese for my whine. ha ha

My biological marriage clock is ticking...will be 37 in two weeks. :upsidedow
Well, according to Merriam-Webster, pshaw is used to irritation, disapproval, or disbelief.:) Anyway, good luck!

100% yes! I was married to my ex for 7 yrs, he was a abuser and the worst person I have ever met! I got up the nerve to leave him:thumbsup2 and one day I stopped by a church where a friend of mine was working a extra detail (a cop) to say HI...my dh was also working the detail, we did not speak (but I did think wow he is so cute) so for months my dh would ask my friend to hook us up but he kept telling him NO (my friend had a little crush) my dh had been divorced for about a year from his cheating ex wife so he was pretty shy.I went to the courthouse one day to get my paperwork and when I walked out the door I smacked right into some guy! It was my dh..he was in his uniform and even though I didnt see him but one time I did notice his name tag...he looked down at me and said "hey *****!!" He remembered my name.:lovestruc
We got engaged at wdw at the POLY watching the fireworks 10 months later with his son and mine with us.:wizard: We got married that next april and we now have a dd4! We never had a honeymoon because we were building a house so this year in April we are going to stay at the POLY ! He really is the love of my life and he worships me in every way! It CAN happen.

Yes...when you least expect it. I was a single mom with 6 kids, ranging in age from 2-15. I was pretty much sure about the only date I was going on was with one of my sons. I had been working for about 6 months and there was this guy who always stopped to talk when he was there delivering (it was a grocery store). We joked and stuff but just work relationship. One day he asked me to go to lunch. Never looked back. He took on me and the kids and I took on him and his 4. At one time it was 8 kids and us living in the house. But, as hectic and choatic as some days were, the best memories of all of us sitting around that dining room table with folding chairs for more seats!

I think because I was so immersed in being 'independent' and a single mom raising her kids, I actually missed a lot. He claims he wanted to ask me out before but I appeared to not be looking for anything!
