Just wondering how far YOU would go to search out an old friend that you've lost touch with(??)

Probably as far as "free" takes me. Once someone wants some $$$ to help search, the search is done!

(Unless, of course, it was an exceptionally special someone! :smooth: )

I once paid 10.00 (some internet site) to help me locate an old friend. All I got was a bad address and phone number!

I found an old friend from yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago online 7 years ago! Been talking ever sense...and met up. ;) :faint:  I was extremely lucky. Would I have paid money? No. I was just really bored one night and started typing in names of people I went to high school with. He actually came up with an e-mail address! :lovestruc

The only "link" I've found to find my best friend from HS is her ex-husband. They had a very bad divorce and I don't think he has contact with their child....I was friendly with both of them....should I e-mail him?

I am in the same dilemma. I called once and his new wife answered the phone. I explained who I was and what I wanted. She was very cold and told me that the kids were with them for the weekend and she would have one of the kids call me with the info. They never called. :(

I have found 2 old friends from high school. One I found on Classmates.com before they started to charge you to find people:( and another found me because I had listed myself on gradfinders.com. I actually had just returned from a 13 day trip to WDW and she had e-mailed me the day we left to come home. It was almost Disney magic at it's best!! We have talked online almost every day and met IRL twice. The best part is she is only 5 hours drive away now!!! Good luck in your search!!

I found several old friends by finding the email addresses of their KIDS! This was a few years back before EVERYONE had email, mostly youngsters.

I remember finding what I HOPED to be an old friend's telephone number and calling her. At first she was very cautious talking to me but when she realized who it was.... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: We had 20 years of catching up to do!! It was so much fun!!

There are literally HUNDREDS of people I would love to find out about back in NY, but I know most of them have changed their last names and addresses since most people my age have moved OUT of NY. I hope I will find them someday.

I did it last year, and really got lucky with little effort.

I had a best friend throughout HS (1976 grad ) and later after graduation. At about age 21, we had a falling out over whether to move into a really scummy part of town into an apartment together or not. It just wasn't right for me, I was going to Comm. College, and working part time at K-Mart. Anyway, we fought, and never spoke to or saw each other again. About 6 years later I moved to another state.

Fast forward to August 2003. I am playing around on the Classmates website-I don't belong to it, but you can pull up a few things without being a member. I pull up my friend's name just for kicks, and see that she has a married name now. So I go to the white pages for Michigan to see what I can see. (She has an unusual first name, which is ethnic, and she started using it AFTER we "split up".) I FOUND HER!!! She was living in a different city, but I was sure it was her. I sent a note to the address asking if it was her-it was!! The good feeling that we still had was just overwhelming, we have been emailing each other on a regular basis (but for some strange reason, haven't called...?) Found out that she got married 1 WEEK after I did, and a lot of other weird parallels.

If you ever have the chance to reconnect, DO IT. Forget about past disagreements, and just DO IT..
