So for this summer I was actually in Virginia working at Busch Gardens up there for a Leadership Internship. My house is in Orlando and I live 10 minutes from Universal. I had to watch all the opening ceremonies from the computer and TV and had to jealously see people's Potter reviews start to come in. I finally got home and one of the first things I did was go to WWOHP.

Walking in from the Lost Continent side, with the music, the atmosphere, it literally took my breath away. I saw so many wide eyed people walking in there for the first time, especially kids on their parents shoulders who's eyes were huge and jaws dropped. THAT made my day. The fact that kids can now go to Universal and be completely mesmerized by an area that Disney had nothing to do with.

I went with my friend Kyle for my first Forbidden Journey ride and the sign said 60 minutes but we waited about 45-50. Once we got in the castle with the moving portraits and classrooms and Dumbledore's Office, I was completely beside myself. I also saw more wide eyed kids literally say "Wow!!" when they saw the moving portraits and when it started snowing in the classroom. I got so excited!! You could tell the parents liked it too. I think basically anyone who goes through that queue is able to appreciate it, just because of its authenticity to the movies and how well detailed it all is.

Then I got to the loading area and went completely bonkers. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ride control systems for theme parks. I love the technology behind it, I love everything about that part of the industry. I was in complete awe that what I saw moving along a conveyor belt, what people were locking themselves into were gigantic robotic arms. I pulled down the harness and was so excited, I didn't think the ride would meet my expectations...

Oh.

My.

God.

That ride, is simply one of the best/well executed rides I have EVER been on, if not the best one I have ever been on. Since my first ride, I've been on it 4 times, and I STILL get very excited to be on that ride. The fact that Universal would take something so alien to the theme parks, a robotic Kuka arm, having 40+ of these arms circulating around a track, with an omni-mover loading system, it just makes me so amazed at the system. I know it makes me kind of lame too haha, but I LOVE riding with people who have never been on it, and as soon as the arms starts to swing up and off the platform, their gasps and awes are wonderful.

I just wanted to say that for all you who haven't been on the ride yet, you have a great experience waiting for you. Be sure to wait it out. Since there is no Express line yet, the line will continue to move and it WILL be worth the wait. Well done Universal! You have once again beat out Spiderman as the best dark ride in the world, and it is in the same park as Journey. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is a MASTERPIECE. The technology and execution of that ride is beyond words can describe. I know Disney fans probably won't venture over here to ride because "It's not Disney, therefore it will suck", but hopefully they will, as they are missing out on an amazing piece of engineering. Now why can't we get the red coaster across the street to run this good...

I will be sure to go to WWHP in the next year and check out Universal. My big concern is that there may be a lot of rides I can't go on because I get motion sickness. And I so wanted to ride Forbidden Journey; now I'm not sure if I can based on what a friend told me about her experience. Maybe some other motion sickness challenged individuals who have ridden can post their experiences here as well. But based on your description of WWHP in general, I will be there to just experience the surroundings and get my mug of butter beer (and wand, of course)!

Well there are 3 parts of the ride where you're staring directly onto a domed screen showing some flying around Hogwarts and Quidditch matches and such, but the vehicle profiles and simulates the movements on the screen pretty well. I never once felt any motion sickness, but that's just me. The rest of the ride is actual sets and animated figures.

As far as getting motion sickness on the ride it will depend on how much you can handle. I suffer from motion sickness and rode HP and at times had to close my eyes because it was getting to me. The ride is very smooth but it does make sudden and quick turns and moves.

I get motion sickness quite easily on rides. I found that by taking a dramamine the night before and then one in the morning, I was fine. Without the dramamine though, I wouldn't have been.

I only got motion sick when I had a butterbeer before riding Forbidden Journey.

Wait until after!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I can't wait to go - and FWIW, I'm nearly 60 years old and a die-hard Disney fan to boot!!!!

Just went on this fabulous ride on 8/20. I really don't like simulator rides but my daughter really wanted to go on. I was fine - I just shut one eye on the parts where you felt like you were flying - don't miss this ride!!!!

I felt a little queasy when the ride first started but it went away almost immediately. This is truly a fabulous ride.

It made someone way too queasy yesterday...I was stuck on it for a while and discovered why at the end, where it was obvious someone had tossed their cookies big time right where you get off. Ugh! I love ride systems too so the good thing was being stuck in front of one of the movie domes. The movie played with no movement of the robot arm, which was very disconcerting. When it started up again, we played out all the movements without the movie, which was quite interesting. The fog screen rarely works well anymore so you get a great view of the other benches these days if you're on the end and make an effort to look. I just love doing that.

I only got slightly queasy when I rode it twice in a row. The first time I didn't feel sick at all. It was only after the second ride which was within a few minutes on single riders line. The rest of my family had the same thing happen to them. The ride is awesome though!!

The only probelm with the ride for me, was the video quality

I felt a bit queasy after this ride. I can handle any roller coaster but the simulator rides kill me. (I will never go on the Simpsons ride again!) having said that I would say that this is an absolute must do ride. It is great. Actually if you are really afraid of getting sick, still walk through the queue. It's unbelievable!

As for the rest of WWOHP it is extremely well done! Have a great time!!

Great to hear you enjoyed it and that it lived up to your expectations!

We had the same eye-popping, slack-jawed reaction when we first walked into Hogsmeade, saw the shops and street just like in the movies (and our imaginations), rounded the corner and suddenly were in front of that castle!

It was amazing, it was breathtaking, it was incredible!

(Can you tell we are HUGE Harry Potter fans?;))

The FJ ride, the theming, everything exceeded our expectations, which were pretty high!

My only complaint is that I wish there were an entire park for Harry Potter, not just a section of a pre-existing park.

I suffer from motion sickness quite a bit, and took a Bonine before riding FJ. About halfway thru the ride I remember thinking "Wow, I'm not feeling sick at all!" And then BOOM! Then ending scene with the quiddich was terrible. I got off and literally went weak at the knees because I was so dizzy. It passed quickly enough, but I didn't ride again. I just walked the queue a few times.
