Made reservations last night to camp July 3-July7!!! We are not doing the parks. We have annual passes to Busch Gardens and Sea World so we will do 3 days in Tampa before we get to the campgrounds, 2 SW days and 2 relax days at the campground. I would love to do the parks, but just can't afford it this year. The lady that took my reservation made me feel like the worst mom ever. She was horrified that it was the kids first trip to disney and we weren't doing the parks. I know it is her job to get us to buy tickets, but wow. I know there is a ton to do without going to the parks, especially at the fort.
So, right now we have a pop up with an A/C. Hoping to upgrade before the trip if we can find a good deal. Will we survive the heat. I have read on here of people in tents in July so I am hoping we won't sweat to death!

July is nice at the Fort. As a fellow pop-up owner, I will warn you to prepare for afternoon rains every day nearly. Make sure to slant your awning well to shed the rain.

What type of site did you reserve? How far are you driving? Don't worry about not going to the parks. If you're doing SW and BG then use those since they're already paid for. I approve of that strategy.

Thanks! We are coming from NE Ohio. We got a full hook up site since we are hoping to upgrade. Thanks for reminding me about the rain.

You might want to look into the YES program if your kids are school age ....can save you a lot on tickets.....at least keep it in mind for your next trip.

Thanks I looked into it and it would save us around 700,but it is non refundable. That is the problem. Dh is trying to transfer to FL and if that happens we wouldn't be doing a trip then. So I am definetly keeping it in mind for the next time.

Thanks We have gone the past 2 thanksgivings to sw and dtd last year added busch gardens. I LOVE DTD, but dh could take it or leave it. We have always gone late so this trip I told him we are going during the day. I can't wait to get more MR potato head parts.

I've been to Ft Wilderness twice over the 4th of July and will never go that week again because of the crowds. I usually love Ft Wilderness; but it is NOT fun when it's so hot that all you can think about doing is swimming, and when you arrive at the pool area, the water is like a can of sardines... (standing room only). Don't expect to find a chair either.
There are also ALOT of behavior problems at the Fort over that weekend. We saw a large number of loud, unruly drunks who were completely out of control, as Security was out-numbered and hopelessly overwhelmed. Just something to think about if you'll be going with children.

Must have had too many Sangrias at the Hoop De Doo Revue. ;)
