Finally found effective help for DDs acne!

I use this stuff from Sally's to keep my hair from thinning. It really, really works. For the first time in my life, I have thick hair, and it used to be really thin.

What's the name of the stuff you use on your hair? My daughter has thin hair and we've tried several things but nothing has given decent results ;/

Going to pick up a mint mask tonight as well ! :)

Thanks for the tips

You use what stuff to keep your hair from thinning? That's what I need!

So after seeing this thread this morning, I bought some from Walgreens and tried it! It didn't sting at all to me, it actually felt very cooling. My skin feels nice, but I'm not sure if I see an improvement quite yet. I'll keep trying it and hopefully it helps. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

DD has used it a couple times but I don't really see any changes yet.

It's nutri-ox serum that keeps your hair from thinning. I didn't really think it would work, but it does. Use it every time you wash your hair.

I've had this since August. When I used the whole face mask I didn't really notice any changes. It does seem to help better if I just spot treat the pimples.

I do like how it makes my skin feels though!

It's always nice to find something that helps.

Interesting...reading the ingredients, my silly brain figured that the chromium oxide greens were the big "home" style ingredient...but that's just the color, LOL.

Kaolin and bentonite are clays that have long been used for acne, and sulfur has too. And pure glycerin soaps are often suggested to help with it as well. Zinc oxide *also* has acne-helping properties.

It's like they put all the old school stuff into a pot and mixed it up. :)

And only the color, fragrance, propylene glycol and methylparaben are the extras.

lol, I cannot believe that stuff is still around! We used in in hairdressing school in 1979. Glad it worked for you, never did for me...the smell reminds me of those mint julep candies!

This is a good thread to hold onto with the teen years in front of me.

I wonder, would one of these pro active products be ok for occasional breakouts? These days my DS12 seems to break out around his nose and hairline with the heat. I think he's do better if he'd just wash his face occasionally during the day but I still need a back-up plan for when my warnings go ignored:rolleyes: Can anyone recommend anything just for blackheads and occasional bumps? Would the Julip stuff work every once in a while or is it an every day thing?

I know everyone is different but in my case my skin is very sensitive & delicate so the less I mess with it the better. I can't do lotions and creams because anything like that will give me a chemical burn pretty easily. As a teen I discovered that pulling my hair up completely in a ponytail at night kept me from most breakouts (no bangs). The discovery was on accident. My hair was long thick 80's hair and in the summer it was HOT. After a few weeks of sleeping with my hair pulled back for the heat my skin cleared up significantly. I still don't know if it is the oil from my hair or the products in it that bother my skin so much but once I got in the habit my skin did 100 times better. I also got in the habit of changing my pillow cases every few days which also helped me a great deal. I still have to behave this way or my skin gets angry in a hurry. Just thought I'd share my experience. All the products in the world won't help if a person's skin is just irritated by their hair at night.

My daughter was getting horrible pimples on her chin, and a few on her forehead. She asked me to please buy her PROACTIV. I was hesistant, but within a week I could see a huge improvement in her skin. I bought it at a mall kiosk, and was informed that if I was not completely satisfied, we could return product for a full refund. Even, if the containers were empty.

ok my son used the mint julip stuff twice now- (He HIDES in his room) But his skin looks so much better. Thanks for posting this I never would have tried it!
