Hi everyone, I finally decided after switching my reservations about 5 times on POLY!:Pinkbounc I stood at the Poly about two years ago and stood in the Samoa longhouse, I don't think it was called that then. I think it was called Hawaii but, I'm not sure and don't really remember. How about the Samoa longhouse gound floor facing pool.............is this considered garden view or pool view? When I stayed back then, I was on the second floor but couldn't see the pool because of some trees and I had a garden view reservation and room rate. My main concern is to be near the pool and beach. Should I request Samoa ground floor or Fiji facing marina or beach side?

Now I'll go crazy over what to request and not even sure if they'll honor my request:( !

Any other suggetions on location would be greatly appreciated!

Please note,
only staying for three nights and no parks, just pool and beach area to relax with hubby and 8 year old.

Thanks again!

Before I broke down and upgraded my ressies that is the longhouse I had requested. From what I gathered it seemed the one to be closest to everything. And some of the rooms from what I have heard from other posters have a partical lagoon view.
This longhouse is smoking op. building. So if you are super sensative to smoke you might think twice.
Have a super stay at the Poly! It is a wonderful place to relax!

Thanks DNSDisney, I wasn't aware of the Samoa longhouse being a smoking op. I don't like the smell smoke leaves behind so, that's an issue for me.

Any suggestions on what longhouse to request?

Thanks in advance!

I'm in your shoes, going in 2 weeks. It's my first stay at the Poly. In the past we have stayed at OKW and BC and all I do is request non-smoking (and go in the slower seasons) and what they give me has always been great! At OKW we were right across the road from the check-in, main pool, restaurants, etc! At BC we could walk out our back door to the quiet pool area. It was like the pool was in our back yard. And since the main pool closed we would swim late at night out there. IT was so far from the main lobby that I never would have thought to request it. But after check-in, we never really needed to go to the lobby. My husband even wrote down the room number to request it in the future.

For this trip Poly GV I requested 1) non-smoking, 2) patio & 3) near a pool, either pool. I know I'm not likely to get all three but it never hurts to ask. I don't want to request a specific longhouse because I have heard great things about so many of them that I'm afraid I might miss out on something special by requesting a certain one and expecting certain benefits from it. So I'm going to "go with the flow" and hope for the best.

If I had asked for a specific view/location at BC I might not have ended up with a room right off the pool. I noticed that only 2 rooms had back doors that accessed the pool. THe others were blocked by shrubs. These 2 rooms were actually smaller. You could tell by the outside and our friends room had more room for the table. But by getting the smaller room we got the pool access, which we preferred. Had I requested a larger room I might have ended up riding the elevator to get to the pools.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Chill out and go with the flow. Let them surprise you.

I've only stayed in Tahiti and it's quite a hike to the pool and Great Ceremonial House. The view of the Lagoon was spectacular.

Both LV and GV from Tahiti are beautiful but my brother started calling that hike the "Bataan death march".

How far is the walk? I did not think Poly was that spread out.. thanks..amy

Just wondering which Garden View long house is best? Is there any noise issue with the race track so close by? Does Garden view sometimes mean parkng lot view? I'd love to stay at the POLY, but only if I knew I would not have to look at the road or parking lots, with a Garden View.
:D

Buzzme - Oh my gosh you cracked me up!!

Sounds like something my DH would say. We've stayed in Tahiti several times but in Sep '00 the heat & humidity were unbearable to my DH. He would be dripping in sweat just walking to the GCH to catch the monorail. And he used to work in a steel mill around 3000 degree furnaces!

lovethemouse2 - We are also gonna "go with the flow". On my GV reservation I requested 1) non-smoking 2) 3rd floor with balcony. I'd stress myself out too much trying to pinpoint things down much further than that!:D

Hi again, still wondering and totally confused about what longhouse to request. If the hike from Tahiti is that long then I won't request that and I read Samoa is a smoking OP so, what about Fiji? Any information on this longhouse?

Thanks in advance:confused:

I took a look at Tikimans site and it says that FIGI is non smoking and it has a view of the pool from across the marina. It is also close to the GCH . Rooms there are considered GV and some of them have partcial view of lagoon. I would say request FIGI w Pool view. Tikimans site is WWW.tikiman2001.homestead.com

I think Tokelau has the best garden view location. Great views, close to everything and right next to the quiet pool if you want to use it.

Also the rooms are larger than the other buildings such as Fiji. Hallways are also larger which makes the rooms quieter.

I love Tokelau with quiet pool view.

Fiji is the best ...we stayed ground floor facing the marina in February and the view was fabulous and it is so centrally located...woud you believe we could see spectromagic from our patio...good luck and have fun;)

Hi.
I'm rather confused.
I'd like some help too.

We got upgraded from FQ and are now staying at the poly. Garden View. I'm going to request a 2nd floor.

Will I just be ok just taking what I get, or should I request a place? And what one would you all suggest?

I just put in my request for Figi, ground floor. Took a look at tikiman's site and it looks like you can't go wrong with the view from the Figi rooms. Volcano pool view and the marina would be cool, but we'd also love the view out the other side that might include the Wedding Pavillion and GF. We always request ground floor as it makes it easier with a stroller.

I was confused too (still am a little) but after talking with a very helpful CM from CRO I feel comfortable with my request. Location isn't a huge issue but I really wanted a nice view since I'll be in a gardenview room. Gardenview can be parking lot, vegetation, pool, marina and sometimes if you're lucky a partial lagoon view. So I requested a waterview and a patio. I didn't want to limit my options so I didn't request a specific longhouse. So we'll see what I end up with!! The anticipation is kind of fun, kind of like when I was pregnant and didn't know if it was a girl or a boy!! It was a girl and I was thrilled but would've been just as happy if it had been a boy!! Get it?;)

I still don't know what to pick

I am "stuck" with a garden view.

What should I ask for?

Hi everyone, thanks for responding and helping me make a decision. If I request a specific long house can I also request a patio and view? I'm afraid that just might be too much requesting? Should I just request patio and view? Should I request long house and patio only? Please help!

Thanks in advance!

IMHO, the more you request, the more likely you are to be disappointed. If you don't get part of your request you will be disappointed. If you choose a specific longhouse, specific view, specific floor then where is the surprise? Where is the fun? If you get it, you will KNOW what to expect. If you DON'T get it you'll be bummed. Half the fun of vacation is experiencing something new. You may miss something special by requestiong something specific.

Everybody here repeat after me...*inhale*....*exhale*...*inhale*....*exhale*. It's going to be just fine.

I think part of the reason some people are disappointed by their Disney stays is that they expect too much. Disney is a master at fine detail and good taste and we come to expect that and more, myself included. We save up forever because it is expensive, and therefore we expect our money's worth. We anticipate it for months/years because we've been planning it that long and we get the videos, books, read every website we can find. I do it too!

But I decided this year that I'm going to ease up. The type A in me can't help but plan and organize and read these boards. But I'm letting them surprise me on my longhouse, etc. I DID request non-smoking, patio, and near a pool but I'm not expecting all that. If I get it fine, if not fine. I think when I get there I will smile real pretty and say, "put me somewhere nice" and be done with it.

I go in 2 weeks and I'll tell you how that worked out. And whether my "acuna matata" attitude paid off or not.

So put on a little reggae music, take a deep breath and let the Disney magic work a little for you.
