FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

Hi, everybody!

Thanks to everyone for the job-related sympathy and pixie dust!

No news on the job getting front yet, but I DID just book my flight!

I'll be flying nonstop out of Kansas City on Southwest- and I got roundtrip for $159! Woo!

My mom is a big fan of the slot machines, and as a result, she always has coupons for free nights at the casino hotels. (I started to say she has offers for free nights, but that just sounded...wrong!) The plan is to drive up to KC the day before my trip (It's about 4 hours), spend the night, and then fly out the next day. Repeat the process in reverse for the trip home!

I am a little freaked out about my ear problems and flying. It's so weird- I LOVE to fly- I have the opposite of a fear of heights. But for the first time, I am freaking out about flying, because of the problems I've been having with my ears. Sometimes the pressure seems to act like a vacuum, making it hard to breathe- and that's just from driving on hills! :scared: What's going to happen coming down from 40k feet???

I have an appointment with a different ear doctor on Monday- (The last one gave me the lovely news of "Well, we'll try one more medicine, but if this doesn't work, you're pretty much stuck.") I really hope this one works!

Plan B is to get some lovely little pill that will just knock me out for the flight, or at least make me nice and loopy, so at least if soething goes wrong, I won't care! :lmao:

On a lighter note, Lily hasn't been in my trip report in a while!

Yay! :yay: Congratulations on buying your plane tickets! :yay: It's really official now! :thumbsup2

You'll be trick-or-treating in the MK before you know it! :goodvibes

Have a great weekend!
-Michelle

P.S. I totally get what you are going through with your ears. I have had chronic sinusitis for years, and I finally had sinus surgery and a tube put in my bad ear about 10 years ago. It worked for awhile, but I've been a lot worse lately. I'll be miserable on the plane, too. The things we do for Disney!

Yay airfare. And I hope said ear doctor can help you.

I'm doing the 1-month freak-out!

Okay, I technically have 33 days, but still!

I usually don't start freaking out until about 2 weeks before the trip, but oh my goodness, I have a Disney trip in a month, and I still have sooooo much left to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It happens to everyone, right?

I just sent Kelly an e-mail detailing the cheapest possible costs for her to come (for either 2 or 3 days), so I'm hoping to hear back from her soon! It's so hard to plan when you have no idea if your other person is going! I'd approach things totally differently solo than I will if she goes.

I think it must be instinct. You know how some expectant mothers get the nesting instinct, and start cleaning/redecorating the house before the baby is born? I think that the Disney version is that about a month ahead of time, we need to start making lists and spreadsheets, or we will go nutty! (Nuttier!)

I'm trying to burn some of that "Must Plan Now!!!" energy by working on my packing list.

Other Things I still need To Do:
-Break in new Crocs! I usually start making myself do a mile a day on the treadmill 30 days out, so I'm enjoying my last 3 days of sloth!
-Test i-Zone camera. I haven't tried it, so I want to make sure it works!
-Pack! I may start packing the things I know I won't need in the next month soon. Yay!
-Obsess about the weather. Because everyone knows the number of days of rain on your vacation will be inversely proportionate to the number of times you check weather.com before leaving!
-Feed Pudge, the fish who controls the weather, a peanut butter sandwich, just in case.
-Make CDs to listen to on the drive to Kansas City, restock ipod with good Disney music! (I really hope the new ear doctor helps! Right now, I can't stand having headphones on or in my ears- it screws with the pressure. I will be sad if I can't use my ipod on the plane!)
-Pre-Order the Photopass CD
-Decide if we're doing the GF photo thing. I keep hearing mixed answers on if you have to pay the sitting fee if you preorder the photo CD or not. If we do have to pay $25 for the session, we'll probably skip it.
-Keep trying to change AS Sports to ANY other value!
-Finish my Pirate costume. I've been working on the bodice part the last few days- I ended up totally scrapping the pattern I bought and making my own from scratch, which seems to be working better. I got super lucky and found the perfect red corduroy fabric at the thrift store for $2.50! I still need to find a shirt to wear under it, though, decide on shoes, and add more accessories.
-Finish Stitch's pirate costume. Question: Is it morally wrong to stick safety pins in your mascot?
-Continue to watch DVC boards like a hawk in hopes of a studio becoming available
-Find my tea ADR confirmation #. See, this is why I can't be trusted with ADRs, I have NO idea where I put it!
-Book Magical Express. YAY!
-Do SOMETHING with my hair! I can't decide if I want to do hair extensions for this trip or not. I am one of those people who is blessed with a grand total of about 5 hairs on my head, so I love extensions to give me some length and thickness. However, they're kind of a pain, especially in Florida where the humidity makes them extra frizzy. But I'm much cuter with long hair! And there will be many photos taken! Luckily I still have some time to make up my mind about this one!
-Get all the cat fur off of my suitcase. What IS it about suitcases that draws cats in?
-Clean the house, because coming home from Disney is sad enough, but coming home to a dirty house is even more depressing!
-Sell everything I own on ebay so that I can actually afford the trip (especially if Kel can't go, and I end up having to pay all of the resort price, instead of half!)
-Print out my lists to take with me (various checklists, times, etc.)
-Stop freaking out! (Estimated date for this to happen: Oct 27!)

I think I just freaked myself out even more making the list!

I really should start doing yoga again! Or drinking.

So THAT's why the rum is gone- Jack was planning a Disney trip!

Wohooo Congrats on the Plane tickets!

Your starting the freak out early...I havent even started yet. Maybe your doing it for me. :lmao: Hopefully Kelly will know soon if she will be able to come.

Oh and I just love this..."Feed Pudge, the fish who controls the weather, a peanut butter sandwich, just in case." I gotta start feeding Pudge and get him in a good mood! Oh and its not bad if you stick safety pins in Stitch...just don't tell anyone. It will be our secret :rotfl:

Great update...Almost time to do the one month dance! :dance3:

Oh yes and thats why the rum is gone...It's all Jack's fault!

That's quite a list! In fact, you may have just put my list making skillz to shame. I'm glad things are starting to work out for you.

Best of luck on your interview tomorrow! Remember to relax, smile, and arrive early! I used to be a career counselor in a past life so if you want some tips or reassurance PM me! And don't forget to let us know how it goes!

Crystal............

Deep breath in, deep breath out...........but it's a fun Freak out isn't it?????

pixiedust: for your job interview. Make sure to keep us posted.

I am in super planning mode too.......made a bunch of door signs yesterday. Rearranged the stuff in my closet that I will need for the trip. Thinking of getting a pre-trippie started myself.........mulling over a good title.

I agree about getting cat hair off my suitcase...:rotfl: :rotfl:
Good luck on the job interview.

Lots of luck at your interview on Monday.

I'll be happy to continue swimming those sandwiches out to Pudge while you're down in the World to keep the sun a-shinin'.

I mentioned that things have been interesting here- I should probably give you an update!

Wow, sorry to hear! When I resigned from my last job (very much a surprise but I was semi tricked into it) I had a trip planned to WDW too. I was actually leaving that week, so, of course, i decided to go and have me a good time, since I needed it and who knew when I'd get back, since i was job-less.

In the end it worked out best, as I got a new job in a place I liked better! Closer too.

So, good luck in your search! And much pixie dust for your trip.

A funny story to share from this morning's call to CRO to try to change our AS Sports reservation to a different value-

The first CM I talked to was named Ferris. He was grumpy! Well, not so much grumpy as just not friendly. I gave him my info, and asked if there were any other value resorts available. He poked some buttons and then said, "whoa, thats not good! Where did it go? (pause) I'll have to restart part of my system, so I'm going to have to put you on hold-enjoy the music!"

So the phone cuts to the hold music, and right into... Timon & Pumba crying! (The end of Can You Feel the Love Tonight)- I cracked up! I broke the computer, AND made Timon and Pumbaa cry! (That or they got put on hold, too, and were sad!)

The CM came back a minute later, and said he would have to switch me to a different agent. This one was much nicer, but still had no luck finding me a resort :(

On a whim, I tried calling the Swan & Dolphin, but they only have a couple of days available, and even with the AP rate, it would be $209 + tax, so scratch that off the list!

I am really hoping I hear back from Kelly about if she's going or not for sure! I planned this trip counting on her to pay half of the resort costs on the days she's there, not to mention counting on still having a job the month before the trip, so if she's not going to be able to go, I need enough warning to have time to plan a bank robbery!

I know I'm stressing out a lot, but deep down I know that the truth is that even if I have to change things around and spend all 8 nights at Sports, it will be okay, because it's still Disney. It will all wind up magical in the end, I just need to MAKE it to that point!

Do you or your mom have AAA or AARP? Have you tried AAA or AARP rates at the S/D?

Sending more Pixie Dust for your job interview today! pixiedust: Knock 'em dead, Crystal! :goodvibes

-Michelle

Good luck on your interview! Try not to stress about the room! Worst case scenario, you'll still be at Disney World!

good luck with the job interview today!!!! :)
----and getting out of all star sports ;)

I know my priorities are out of whack when I read this and thought I'd rather get the resort I want than the job! :rotfl2:

Just back from my interview- I think it went pretty well! There's another person applying for the same position on Weds, so I'll hear after that. I did find out that they also have another position open, though, which may actually suit me better, so I might get that one instead! And either one will pay more than I was making at the hotel! I just hope that they will still be interested when I tell them I'll be gone for 10 days in Oct!

Now if I can just get my medical stuff straigtened out, everything will be great! (Ear doctor later today, and another doctor on Weds!) I'm so excited that Disney is so close! :wizard:
