Finalizing things -Fantasmic pkg -BTDT- again?

We definitely want to do Fantasmic again for our upcoming trip.
We've done the package (using dining plan) three times. The first two times, we had a great experience...showed at the appropriate time, etc. This year, however, it was noticeable that they've opened more packages for seating, and it was a cluster. We showed at the appropriate time...and it was a zoo.

So, now I'm questioning if I want to do it again. It is a few days before Christmas that we would do it. Would it be better to have the package around this time of year?

We could also wing it completely. I'd much rather eat at 50s PT than Mama Melrose, but we do enjoy MM too. I am just torn...with the crowds, would the package be a better bet?

I'd also like to see the show again, but I do not want to pay for a package since we've experienced both MM and BD and don't have a desire to do so again. (Everything was OK, just not anything special to us). Don't like buffets.

Maybe they will offer FP+ for Fantasmic! for your dates. I was lucky enough to get one for our upcoming trip. It should help us get in without standing in a 90 minute line, LOL. Hope so.
