Is there an event going on that I can't find the final week of January 2025?

It seems there's been very little availability of rooms for quite some time.

I had a GP View Studio at BWV but had to change to a 1 BR so I was fortunate to at least get OKW, but I've been stalking like crazy and basically finding nothing.

Oh, I also hate how DVC website logs me out constantly. LOL

As far as I am aware, there is no particular event last week of Jan. As part of a low point season, second half of January has developed some fairly high demand but still not anything as high as the Fall season (late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan). Last week of Jan actually comes just before higher point cost Feb 1 to the Thurs before Presidents' Day which is actually one of the lowest DVC demand time of the year at WDW.

You do not say when you started looking for a 1BR, but if a member does not start until after the 7-month window has passed, it can become far more difficult to get rooms almost any time of year except at SSR, OKW, and AKV, and even then you can have issues for late Jan.

If the resort you are focusing on is BWV, also be aware that it has been having a relatively higher demand than usual process going on, a result of the Sep 2023 through June 2024 refurbishment which took about half the rooms in the resort out of service for many months causing extremely high demand -- standard and bwv studios and 2BRs were disappearing right at 8 a.m. at 11 months out, pool/garden view studios and 2BRs often did the same, and even 1BRs were not lasting very long. The result is that many BWV owners could not get their usual reservations during the refurb period. and have since been piling on to get reservations and use points, including many banked points, for reservations since June 2024.That will likely calm somewhat as time passes.

Well, unfortunately our GP Studio at BWV was booked at 7 months, but last month we decided to bring along a friend for my daughter so I had to switch to a 1 BR. I knew it would be hard. Honestly, we'd love to get BLT, BRV, BWV or BCV, but I"ve been looking at everything. I am sure OKW will be fine, but hated to give up BWV :)

maybe something will open up. I'll keep stalking!

I’ll be there that week also and have been casually checking availability. It’s been pretty sold out for months. However at 31 days you should probably stalk because people will probably cancel.

That's kind of what I've been thinking.

Last week the nights I wanted opened but it was split up between garden/pool 1 BR and standard view at BWV and I don't feel like moving 2 times. LOL

To answer your original question, yes there is a moonlight magic night on January 26 (Sunday) at HS.

We're there the 27th through Feb 1.

It may just be that it's becoming a popular time and as previously mentioned by another poster, people are trying to get their points in.

What makes it more difficult for me is my use year is Feb, LOL.

There is also what looks like a Cast Member Party on Thursday night that week, just fyi. EEH on Wednesday is at AK.

Was also going to mention Moonlight Magic 1/26 because we have been looking at that weekend for the last month or so

I usually book my Boardwalk stay in January/early Feb, but this year, I decided to grab a Fort Wilderness Cabin, as I used to stay there all the time before DVC, and wanted to try out the new cabins for the nostalgia. Booked 1/31 to Feb 4. I was doing the booking back at the 7 month window, and had difficulty even then finding anything for the weekend before, so I shifted a week out, and Boardwalk Preferred WAS available, as was Saratoga, Boulder Ridge, and OKW...but I wanted the cabin for that trip. I'll be at Boardwalk Wednesday...just a few more days to go.

We're going to after hours at Hollywood that night, it kind of sucks the EEH at AK are the same night, we may actually go to AK to let our daughter see AK after sundown then hop over to HS after.

Update:

Pretty crazy on this front.

So, originally had Deluxe Studio G/P at BWV. Needed a 1 BR so had to switch and booked a 1 BR at OKW.

Then I have been stalking but had a waitlist for 1 BR at BRV and BWV.

Ended up waking up Friday morning to a waitlist fulfilled for BRV. We've never stayed there, but for this trip we're doing the after hours at HS and will be mostly Epcot and HS with a 1 day AK and 1 day MK.

So, I put in a waitlist for 1 BR G/P at BWV.

Woke up Sunday morning to a waitlist fulfillment at BWV.

Strangely I never saw a dang thing while stalking but the waitlist came through not once but twice. LOL

I had assumed I'd originally get it once we hit the 31 day or less mark, but I didn't expect waitlist to fill once , much less twice.

Eventually I would like to stay at BRV but this trip, BWV is much better for our needs.

So, the moral is trust those waitlist requests.

We will be in the parks the last week of January as well. Booked at 11-months though. Nothing special going on except Festival of the Arts.

I see your waitlist came though so that's nice. People do cancel/reschedule a lot, it seems.

We're terrible that our plans change so much, we rarely if ever book more than 5 month or so out. So I'm always at the mercy of what's available. Interestingly we typically get what we want.

That's good. We're fairly new members so that gives me hope for checking out some other resorts sometime at the 7-month mark.
