Final twilight movie. DO NOT OPEN if you haven't seen it

I think that the point being made is that girls/women want men/boys like Edward and Jacob but want to be like Hermonie or Katniss. I don't think most would want to be like bella.

Take rhett and scarlett for instance. I love the devotion he has for her and the way he wants to take care of her but I also love her for her strength and independence.

See, that's what I disagree with. Sure, I guess some women do, given the amount of grown women who seem to devour those books. But to make sweeping statements that all women want a man like Edward or Jacob or that all women love sappy movies and hate action is ridiculous. And in many posts those generalizations are being made - several statements posted and quoted have no disclaimers saying "some" women.

I just saw this. My husband is welcome to discuss any concerns he may have regarding where I go or who I associate with. But considering I'm his wife, not his child, he doesn't get to FORBID me to do anything. And the day he had me kidnapped because I didn't follow his orders would be the last day I would be his wife.

Lol well I can't say that Dh would ever forbid me to do anything. Actually he has never been brave enough to try. But then we have never associated with werewolves or crazed vampires.

But in reality though I like it when he is here to check out the strange noises in the middle of the night.

You are right I should have said "some " And truthfully its probably more young girls than it is adult women.

But seriously, twilight is hardly the first romantic story with the dashing protective man in it. And many many are well loved books and movies.

And I think the amount of money this movie made this weekend speaks for itself in how much these romantic fantasies hold appeal to the masses.

Btw I have a teen dd who is as different from Bella as she could possibly be. But she stills drools over Jacob. She says not to send her a knight in shining amour, she would prefer a werewolf on a dirt bike. Lol

I love the books and the movies and I have no problem with my daughter reading or seeing them. In fact, she went to the all day Twilight marathon and got to watch all 5 movies in one day.

However, I have told her on more than one occasion that Bella's and Edward's relationship is a horrible example of love and should not be coveted in any way shape or form. Bella's and Jacob's is not much better even though I have been team Jacob since New Moon.

It is complete fiction which is why I have had no problem with it but the girls/women I see trying to emulate the relationships (and my adult niece is one of them ) are just sad IMO.

My DD13 and I saw it today and looooved it! We both agreed it was the best of all the films so far. I actually enjoyed Bella in this one, she's more confident, self-assured and fiercely loyal to her family. The ending was brilliant. None of us in the theater had any clue that it was just Alice's vision of a possible future. Instead we all jumped and screamed when Carlisle died.

As for the debate about Bella and Edward's unhealthy love, etc., my thought is that it's a tad too obsessive. However, let me give you my DD13's analysis...Bella is cool because she isn't perfect, isn't obsessed with her looks, loves her family and is ocassionally clutzy. Yet, even she would agree that killing yourself (Edward going to the Volturi in New Moon) isn't the right way to view a relationship lol. Having said that, she loved the character of Katniss in the Hunger Games for similar reasons. Go figure!

We saw it last night. There were parts that were SO cheesy that DH and I just snickered. Course, the books are cheesy too...

The computer graphics regarding Renesmee were really bad looking... she looked alien-like for most of the movie. I also don't remember her not speaking in the books - but its been a few years since I last read them. She said 3 words in the movie that I can remember (receiving a bracelet from Jacob). Was that intentional, to highlight "how she communicates" through touch?

The vision scene really threw me for a loop and there was a woman behind me screaming 'that's not in the book!' There were gasps in our theater when some of the characters saw their end. When it finally ended and we saw what it was, there was loud cheering, sighing, and relieved laughing. Seeing that there were just a handful of groups in the theater, I was pretty surprised at how interactive it was!

I liked the twist. The book ending IS lackluster and this gave the film some energy.

I will always hate Bella's character but I think this movie was at least well done in finishing the series.

She said something to Bella in the car when they arrived at the Denali coven, like, "What if they don't like me?" Then again when Bella was laying with her in bed, but can't quite remember what exactly- something about death? She was fairly reserved, and I'm planning to re-read part two to see how accurately she was portrayed.

I enjoyed the movie. I read some spoilers (a week is a long time to wait!) so I didn't freak during the vision, but wasn't exactly sure when it started or ended. I would've loved to see more of the wolves in human form.

Why exactly did Alice and Jasper leave? It's been years since I read the book and I didn't quite get it during the movie. They were hiding something from the others? They knew Aro would read Alice's thoughts and she wanted some of the recent happenings left in the dark?

She didn't want Aro to know what she was up to so she couldn't let anyone else know since Aro would just read their thoughts and know everything. Also, just in case she was unsuccessful in finding the other half vampire/half humans she wanted to leave Bella with a way to get Renesmee out. That is why she left clues for Bella's eyes only, she knew Aro couldn't read her thoughts so she was safe.

The author, Alexandra Ripley, was selected by MM's estate. However, I don't know if Mitchell had left any notes or indications as to how the story should continue, or even if it should continue.

I know it wasn't written by Margaret Mitchell but I love the book. I found it to be a great second half to a wonderful story.

Finally went to see the movie today with my sister (first chance that we could go together, we have seen all the others together) I had quickly reread the end of Breaking Dawn, this past week, so it would be fresh in my mind. I think the movie was great, of course a few things were left out, a few things changed and the vision scene added, which was quite shocking. I think it was good that they added that. I have no complaints. Now, not so patiently waiting for Catching Fire, oh and a book I read, Divergent, I think its suppose to be made into a movie also.

Well, so as to clear it up, my comments were based on generalizations. No, all women aren't that way. In fact, I'd wager that most of them aren't. What I am saying is that most girls, when they are young, are quite naive when it comes to what love is and many see this weird relationship with Bella and Edward as what loves is.
