FINAL LIST 10/28/11 - 9th Annual DVC Christmas Tree Exchange

OK, these resorts are without tree donations so far:

BEACH CLUB VILLAS
BOARDWALK VILLAS
OLD KEY WEST
SARATOGA SPRINGS RESORT (SSR & THV)

If you are staying at one of these and interested in the tree exchange, consider stepping up! I did see some goo trees online at the Linens 'n Things site, and I'm sure some Googling will turn up more.

Thanks!

Just sent you a PM! :wave2:

I will be sending down a tree for the beach club my dates are dec. 20th - 29th.

OK, we just need one for Jambo House and one for Old Key West! It's moving along!

thx so much for organizing, MrShiny! and thx to all who are donating...we'll be at BWV on 12/7, and being able to enjoy some holiday cheer, DVC-style will be awesome! i will certainly PM on 9/1...

thank you!!!

I extended my trip a day so I will be arriving on 12/23 at AKV. I will send the tree ahead of time. I am moving to BLT on 12/26. I may just send the tree for AKV for someone else to use and bring another one with me for my personal use.

I will take my personal tree to BLT with me and leave it there for someone to use on 12/29.

Mr. Shiny- the tree I am sending down, do you need it for AKV, AKL or BLT?

Right now, we could use the donated tree more at BLT. There is one tree already at AKV (Kidani - mine!) but none at BLT. Could you send the donated tree to BLT?

Thanks!

Note - we still need at least one tree donated for Old Key West and one for Animal Kingdom Villas Jambo House.

Remember we will start setting up the tree families 9/1, but first we need trees to pass - so if you are staying at OKW or Jambo, consider sending a tree down for others (and yourself!) to share.

I will speak with my DH about donating a tree as we participated last year and had a wonderful time especially since we had planned a big extended family trip that ended on Christmas Eve. I'll be back in touch :)

Sorry it took so long to respond. Was in hospital. Had Gall bladder removed. I will send tree to BLT.

:santa: Looking for some Great DVC Families to take part in donating a few christmas trees once again for our 9th Year of Sharing a Little Magic ! :wizard:

If you are interested please pm or post on the thread !

Thank You and Have a Magical Vacation :santa:

Curious, how much does it costs to send a tree down there....after Xmas, what happens to the tree? We are at OKW on Nov 11th until the 21st...will check out sites to see about a pre-lite tree. Would it be cheaper to bring down as a second baggage? Or buy it in Florida, and have it shipped to resort?

I don't remember how much, but some where in the $25 to $35 range. Some of the tree providers send it with a prepaid label for shipping back, but everyone who uses the tree is asked to donate something. The last person is responsible for getting the tree back. There are ways at all of the resorts to ship I know we've shipped back from BWV and VWL, but it's been DH who has done it, so I'm not exactly sure how.

When we send a tree down we include extension cords, scissors, packing tape, magic marker and strings of lights to help with decorating and shipping.

We alternate between sending a VWL tree and a BWV tree. Each has made 2 or 3 trips down. We've had to replace a box, they get pretty beat up.:santa:

Thats a good idea to send them back. I wish I had a owners locker and it could be stored there. Is it big enough to store a small tree?

Thanks for the tips! We have only been DVC members for just over a year and this is the first time we are participating in the tree exchange and so excited to do so!! I figured that would be the cost to send it down, just based on other things I have shipped. I wouldn't have thought of the other supplies, extension cords, tape, etc. So glad you posted that!! Now I will include those things as well. If there is anything else that you may think of that we should do/include please let us know!

Thanks again! :goodvibes

I checked the Bonners web site, and they have a 36" tree with lite stars, and shipping was only $9....so, I guess I could order and have it shipped to the resort...and since I'll be the first user, I can bring the other stuff down with me, to put in the box....does this sound OK? We arrive at Pop Nov 11 and 12, and then OKW Nov 13 thru 20th.:santa: :santa: :santa:
