Fiestaware... questions

1. If you are going to use 2 plates and 1 bowl for decor on your table, which 2 plates do you use and which bowl?

2. How do I get the best price on it. I don't have a Kohl' cards or anything. Might order directly from them. Don't know.

3. Don't plan on actually using it. Just for decor. Would a cheaper knock off work just as well?

I use Fiestaware for my daily dishes. I've bought some of it at Kohl's when on sale and the most of it has came from outlets.
Are you wanting to use it for decor because you want to use different colors or why? Depending on the reason why, I think a cheaper knock off would work just as well.

I have Fiesta ware. If I were just dressing the table I would use a dinner plate, salad plate and rimmed soup bowl.

I've bought most of mine at Bon Ton when they've had a coupon for $50 off $100 purchase.

I have all Fiestaware. I have two types of plates (dinner and salad) but I don't have two types of bowls, unless you count the little dessert bowls. So I'd have to have all of that out to use two plates and 2 bowls.

The cheapest place to buy Fiesta near me is Kohls when it's on sale, with a 30% off coupon + Kohl's cash. I also bought a bunch once on the Bon Ton website - we don't have that store where I live but they have online ordering. There's also a store at the factory in WV that has tent sales 2x a year.

April

Fiestaware is usually deeply discounted at Kohl's on black Friday. I got my mom 6 complete place settings 2 years ago with whatever coupon was available + the black Friday sale price for about $130 or $140 I think it was.

Looks as if buying it direct will yield me the best price at the moment. Free shipping and no taxes. They are offering the buy 6 pay for 5. Is this something they usually ongoing or is this possibly for a limited time?

Where do you live? Because is you live in PA, OH or WVa and you're considering buying it direct, I would STRONGLY recommend a trip to the factory.

I was just going to suggest this as well.

There is also a huge tent sale at the factory store in WV twice a year and the deals are fantastic. I have more Fiestaware than I know what to do with and all of it has come from the tent sale. Just as an fyi, the tent sales are "factory seconds" which means that they have flaws, but more often than not, those flaws are things like the stamp on the bottom is off center or the glaze on the bottom is uneven. There are some things that are obviously damaged, but many things are excellent buys - plates under $3/each etc.

If it were me and just for decor I'd get a knock off... we use fiesta for our everyday dishes and I absolutely love that I have yet to chip a single one! They hold up beautifully.

Well I can't find any knock offs that look as good as the real thing. I stopped by Dillards today and a sales lady told me that they were having a sale of 20% off a $200 purchase and 25% off of a $300 purchase. She said it was through the 22nd of this month, but I don't think I seen it advertised anywhere. I believe even after paying taxes that price will come just below or right at the direct purchase price. Not sure though if I want to purchase the ones that have been handled over and over by the public though. They do have Belks beat on the regular prices I think though.

I've also scored some wonderful Fiestaware deals at Macy's. I have the 4 piece place settings, dinner plate, salad plate, cereal bowl and coffee mug (the larger cylinder type type cup...not the smaller teacup style) all of which came from Macy's. Also have many serving pieces purchased during some great sales.

Kohls us the cheapest. I paid between 15 and 17 for my 4 piece place settings. They were on sale and had 10 off 25 coupons plus earned kohls cash. Bought one at a time at store computer kiosk and got free shipping. Used coupon each time. Have also seen 4 sets for 100. And you could use coupon and earn kohls cash. Got mine late last fall. Love my fiesta

Well I called Dillards today and spoke with a lady in the housewares department about the discount and she told me that I had to use a Dillards card in order to get it. Uggghhhhh. I kinda suspected that last night, but the original women that I talked to did'nt even mention that. Really??? So I guess it will probably be back to ordering direct. Except I did realize that Dillards does have a nice bowl that I really like that is exclusive to them. But why on earth would'nt she mention that you need their card to begin with?

If you aren't particular about exactly what color(s) you want, try buying it used somewhere like Ebay, Craigslist, or a FB group. I have bought and sold multiple pieces that way. Sometimes I will buy a group/set/bundle somewhere (like a thrift store or consignment store) and I don't want all of it, so I keep what I want and sell the rest..... and if you find a great deal somewhere, let us know!..............P

Ya, thats the problem. I am very particular about the colors I want. The colors I am going with for this first set is turquoise and lemongrass. Probably will order them sometime this week. Will get some bowls and matching placemats and a canister from Dillards. I think I might get addicted to this stuff. Time to sell a kid!

Now I need to know what the Dillard's exclusive piece is! I'm totally addicted. If you see a color you want, don't wait too long to buy. They retire/rotate the colors.

Dillards had a 6" footed bowl that looks great and it said it was exclusive to them online. They also have the lemongrass placemats that are not on the direct site as well.

Other note- was wanting to get some of the Spode Christmas tree plates for use at the holidays. Where/how do I get the best price on those?

Ok I went ahead and made my first purchase with Macy's. Got 6 dinner plates, 6 luncheon plates and 8 matching placemats for $135.00. Will probably get the bowls I want from Dillard's.

The best deal I have found on Spode is also at Macy's during their holiday sales. They usually end up discounting them 40% or more, especially at or after christmas. My very best find though was searching my local craigslist. I ended up purchasing an entire 8 setting collection from a guy for very little... they were his wife's and she had passed away so he had them in his garage for years. They were all from before they started making them in China as well, so they are all England stamped. :)
