Fidel Castro, would it be funny if..

  • Would it be funny if Fidel did a double flip off of th stage and impaled himself on a sword?

  • I don't think Fidel dying would be humorous.

  • You people are just twisted.

Inspired of course by Charlie's great post, Fidel Falls or Castro takes a tumble.

I worded the first choice wrong, it should read IT WOULD BE FUNNY IF...

Just checking to see how the poll is doing. I see that while we aren't in the majority, there are still quite a few of us "twisted" individuals here. :D

I really don't understand how you are finding this humorous. I can understand not being sad or not feeling bad about it. But, actually laughing about it? That's really poor. Remember when they showed people laughing and dancing in the streets in response to 9/11? How did that make you feel?

Um.....equating people being joyous over Castro's death to the THINGS in the Middle East celebrating 9/11 is NOT a good analogy! I'm sure many Cubans and citizens from Miami would be very upset at your comments - because they WILL be dancing in the street when this POS dies!!!::yes::

I don't think it would be funny, but it would be good for Cuba.

Those people were celebrating the death of innocent people. Castro is far from innocent. There is a huge difference.

Yes, but in those people's eyes the victims were the "bad guys".

What a perfect example she gave us of moral relativism. I don't know if its a lack of understanding or the refusal to understand that real evil exists in the world.

Actually, to determine if it would be funny, I would suggest some form of international judging, similar to the olympics....

First, before Castro performed his impailing routine, we would have to have certain basic requirements....

Background music, athlete's dress, steroid testing.

We would need a degree of difficulty adjustment depending on the optional elements in his routine.

Perhaps, length of dying while impailed could be considered?

How about amount of blood shed? Organs or body systems involved?

I suggest peachtree girl as the judge representing the USSR,
Beth76 as the United Nations Elections Supervisor,
and any of us right-wing nut jobs as USA judges (and you know who we are!)

And let me make one aside, just because we might wish someone dead, or might find some degree (or a major degree) of humor in someone's death.....

Does not mean that we would be willing to actually cause that someone's death. (Of course some of us might).

We are allowed to have thoughts, even some that might trouble or repulse our elitest (know what's best for the rest of us) friends.

Just as said elitests are entitled to their very frightening thoughts, that usually justify the actions of terrorists, oppps sorry, 'brave resistance fighters' murdering children at schools and infront of their parents.

-Tony (proud to be twisted)

Remember Tony, if Kerry and Edwards are elected, he could be ressurected and we would have an opportunity to vote on a "different method" of his demise.

He's an evil man that should be imprisoned and taken out of power. But death is just not funny.

I'm not into horror flix because I don't like to see "death", so to me it wouldn't be funny. On the other hand, I wouldn't mourn the loss of an evil dictator who has nearly ruined one of the most beautiful countries. He has demoralized the lovely people of Cuba, ruined their thriving tourism and suppressed their freedoms for decades. I wouldn't be laughing or dancing...but I sure wouldn't be crying.

He needs to be removed from power so Cuba can be returned to its prior glory and cultural roots.

Dawn, I hate to disagree with you, but before Kerry could raise Castro from the dead, I believe a resolution that passed some sort of Global Litmus Test (GLT) would be required!

Well, Beth, you'll have to see it your way and I'll see it mine. I don't think death is "funny" in any way shape or form either. The people killed on 9/11 were innocent no matter what those people belive and you and I both know that. FC is evil and surely you know that also. We aren't assuming he is evil--he is. That makes it all quite different to me.

A quick browse through the travel section of any non-American newspaper will leave one with the distinct impression that tourism in Cuba is doing just fine. In fact, my colleague's son and his GF are in Cuba right now, having bought a sell-off from Vancouver, Canada -- two weeks in Cuba, all inclusive for $1199 pp CDN. I know several people who have enjoyed vacations in Cuba and report that the Cubans are some of the friendliest people on earth.

Cuba is no worse a dictatorship than the People's Republic of China, which seems to get favoured trading nation status with the US on a regular basis. The human rights abuses in China are manifold and reported on with some regularity in the North American media. Despite this, Americans travel to China and carry out trade with that nation on a regular basis with no penalties. Meanwhile, shipping old hospital beds and school buses to Cuba can get one charged with "Trading with the enemy." I have watched, with great amusement, as historical re-enactor colleagues from the United States have made special trips to stores selling Cuban cigars in Canada -- all because they can't purchase a real Cohiba in the United States.

Fidel Castro has outlasted numerous American presidents, and I don't think there is any reason to doubt that he will outlast at least one more.

Personally, I do not find it humourous when a mishap befalls an American president, nor did I find it a laughing matter to learn of President Castro's accident or to speculate on his death.

Fidel is an evil dictator. Saddam was an evil dictator. I wouldn't shed a tear at their deaths. I also wouldn't find their death funny.
