We are planning to renew our vows in 2008 (our 20th anniversary), and DH and I were discussing colors. We agreed upon doing black/red colors in honor of Disney. Since my MOH does not look good in red I was thinking of having her and my DD (bridesmaid) wear black tea length dresses and hold red roses. A comment was made "do you think that would look too funeraly", I don't think so but would love some advise on it. The guys will be wearing black tuxes with red ties (full ties not bow), I am planning on having a dress that is white with red accents on it.

Another idea I had was having my FG (DNi who will be 4) wear a minnie mouse dress with the little patent minnie shoes, no ears. I think she would be adorable coming down the aisle and she will stay in the black/red theme.

Anyone done something like this? Or what are your thoughts.

Black is the in thing for the wedding party these days. I was just in a wedding where everyone wore black and the bride just stood out so much in the photo's. As for your little minnie it just sounds to cute for words

I think that all sounds great!! But, I'm probably biased as my colors are black, red and ivory...and my moh will probably be wearing a black tea length dress as well! ;)

I love the Minnie Mouse dress idea! Too cute!

Hey, I love the Minnie idea, as my niece will be Sleeping Beauty!

Minnieandmickey, I didn't choose the colors, my sister and niece did, but black tea-length dresses were what my daughter & niece wore to my vow renewal (for my 20th wedding anniversary):

Our ceremony was in the evening, as was our dinner party. All in all, I think it worked out well, even though I had nothing to do with the colors that were selected for my vow renewal!

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary.

My sister's wedding back in 1990 was black tea-length dresses and red roses. I'd love to show you some pics but I do not have a scanner (no digital cameras back then). The bride and groom wore white. If I can, I will.

We did black dresses, too. So many people use black now. It's not funeral-ish at all. It's a lot more classy and looks better on your bridal party. I'm a plus size and I hated wearing red in my sister's wedding and I was about 50 lbs lighter then!!

I love the idea of black BM dresses because that is the one "color" BM dress I could truly ever reuse for formal occassions.

I vote "yes" on the black dresses, as well.

I love the Minnie dress idea. We are thinking of getting married on Castaway Cay (DCL island) and I want my nephew (age 3) to wear a Captain Hook outfit and carry a treasure chest as the ring pillow.

Go for the Minnie dress, and any other Disney splash you want!

I think the flower girl in Minnie attire is a cute idea--especially since you will be in WDW :) My sister was initially going to do red and black, but due to her dh thinking it would look like a vampire wedding (don't know why-but that's his take on it.) She went with different shades of pink and black. So us girls were in black, with our pink flowers--it looks very elegant!

I think the black makes it a very formal occasion and the FG as Minnie is just priceless! I say go with it. It will make for beautiful pictures!

Aww the minnie mouse dress idea is so sweet, she will look adorable! The black and red dis theme sounds fab! Perfect! :Pinkbounc

I think the minnie dress idea is adorable.

Lots of people do black now a days and I dont think it looks to much like a funeral. I don't think most bridesmaid dresses would ever make an appearance at a funeral :) We did think about black dresses for our wedding, but in the end decided they were too formal and dark for a 2:30 PM wedding in June in Florida. JMO.

minnie sounds adorable. black will look nice and the pictures attached are a good example of how nice it can be :) good luck and congratulations on your anniversary coming

First of all, the Minnie FG dress idea is the cutest idea ever! How creative! I would not personally choose black, however I think it does look stunning. Faeriegrl's black and white photos look amazing and she really does stand out! I say go for the black and red, after all, it is your wedding!
