Epcot was on the plan for Day 5, and once again our touring plan didn't extend very far beyond that. Not that there was any real need for a touring plan. It often felt like we had the place to ourselves. Once again we were up bright and early for rope drop. The Flower and Garden Festival was starting the next day. None of the special exhibits or shopping kiosks were open yet, but we did get to really enjoy all the wonderful topiaries that were out. We took a bunch of pictures of the displays, so I'll share the majority of them in separate posts.
I loved the figures out at the entrance to Epcot. The campfire was my favorite part.
We stopped for a family photo in front of Spaceship Earth.
While we were waiting for my father to get a wheelchair, Daisy had come out so I jumped at the chance to have my picture taken with her. Stitch was out too, but I'm not really a fan so I passed up that line.
First up was a ride on this -
See what I mean - no crowds at all. It was wonderful.
We took our time wandering around Future World enjoying the attractions. I got to ride Test Track this time which thrilled me, but in the cold weather that last hairpin turn was almost brutally cold. Wow! We leisurely enjoyed ourselves and finally made it back to Canada for our lunch ADR.
The Canadian pavillion was looking beautiful decked out for the F&G festival.
I've always maintained that if I was to move in someplace at Disney it would be the Swiss Family Robinson's place, but that little cottage at the Canadian pavillion is a close second. Heck, it could be my vacation home.
Le Cellier was wonderful. I definitely like the lunch menu more than the dinner menu. I'm not a huge beef/steak person, so I enjoyed getting to enjoy a hamburer. The one at Le Cellier was fantastic. Our only food porn of the trip was taken at Le Cellier. The mousse that came with my dinner was too cute to not take a picture of.
And my father's favorite food item in all of Disney - The Maple Crème Brulee. It's the sole reason why he insists on eating at Le Cellier every trip.
After lunch we took the boat over to the Beach Club so my mother could pick up some pressed pennies that were missing from her collection.
After that we split up for a little bit. I wanted to go and pick up a white Dooney & Bourke wristlet for myself. So while my parents headed back to Epcot, I headed over to DHS were I enjoyed a wonderful mini afternoon by myself. I didn't go on any attractions, but wandered through the shops, picked out my bag, and then just kicked back enjoying the streetmosphere for awhile. It was wonderful getting to just enjoy things at my pace without worrying if anyone else was getting bored. It was precisely what I had wanted more of on my December trip.
It was getting a bit late, and DHS was going to be closing soon. I didn't want to get caught up in the throngs of people leaving for the day so I headed out and took the boat back to Epcot. After meeting back up with my parents we went to see the American Adventure and then while my mom and I went and did a bit of shopping my father settled in on a bench to watch Illuminations later.
The temperatures were really dropping, and we were all shivering while waiting for Illuminations to begin. It really felt so odd to be that cold while at Disney. I was awfully glad that I had brought my fingerless gloves with me, and was wishing I had brought a hat and a warmer sweater.
Our mini Disney trip was slipping by so quickly. We had one more full park day to go.
