Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

We caught Remy and Emile a few years ago at DHS, and they were really fun! Don't tell the guy behind you, but I'm pretty sure they signed autographs back then too! ;)

Great photos with the rats (that's so weird to say  ) Did Slim ever come back? I have NEVER seen him.

i wonder if it was more of a bad singing because it seems the younger generations have no clue how to sing there national songs anymore...?

the brothers appetizer looks the best...i have had many good cheese soups other places, so im sure this would be good but not raving good.

awesome the characters you got to see...i have not seen many of them before as well.

I'm sure that isn't the problem. Unless things have changed in the past few years all the elementary-high schools play the national anthem every morning and you sing along so there is no way you don't know the anthem unless you are a complete dunce. It's just like how you say the Pledge in school every morning in the States although I have heard that they are starting to phase that out. I got yelled at by a teacher once when I was in high school (when we lived in Virginia Beach) for not saying the pledge, "Hello! I am Canadian! I'm not going to swear my allegiance to a country that is not my own!" I always stood up out of respect but she was furious that I wasn't saying the pledge along with the rest of the class.

I think the problem is that some higher up at Le Cellier/Disney thought it would be a brilliant idea to muck up our anthem and embarrass the servers by making them sing it like that every day.

Pixar Weekend was great for seeing rare characters. :thumbsup2

Lessa, I would have guessed Hockey as being the #1 sport in Canada too.

I love the Beauty & Beast topiaries...so very pretty.

And I'm glad you and Mom don't have to feel guilty anymore and everyone now has their picture with Remy.

30 years old and worried that there were no autographs???? Please get a life! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I think hockey probably is the #1 sport yet somehow Curling (which nobody I know plays or watches) is our "national sport".

I agree!

Yes, what a relief! The guilt had been weighing me down for years. :rolleyes1

I completely agree! It was shameful. :sad2:

The Pixar Weekend sounds so cool! I think they should do that more often. haha Great pictures!

We have never eaten at Le Cellier. :rolleyes1 I know everyone talks about the cheddar cheese soup. I'm not really a soup person (yes, I'm weird) but it does sound good.

That's awesome you got to meet Remy and Emile. No more guilt for you :thumbsup2 And your pictures are great (: I just don't get that guy behind you's deal. It's just an autograph! I don't even do that anymore, the picture is enough and the memories you get from meeting the characters is another icing on the cake. Just let it go dude, chill (: And that's awesome they had Slim out too, hopefully you did meet him (right?) And glad to see you redeemed yourself as a Canadian LOL

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

What a wonderful trip report! Love your pictures and storytelling. Looking forward to reding more. :goodvibes

I'm sure it would be a big hit!

I'm not usually a soup person either but I had soup twice during the vacation and in both instances they were great!

Exactly!

Maybe, maybe not, can't get ahead of the TR!

And glad to see you redeemed yourself as a Canadian LOL

I was worried there for awhile, thought I might be forced to give up my citizenship and move back to the States!

Late tomorrow night/early morning Alek, Erich and I will be ditching Mom for 10 days and flying out to British Columbia. I am sure Mom will enjoy the 10 days of peace. ;) We are going out for our yearly visit to see our dad and Grandma. Unfortunately that also means we will be seeing the stepmonster!

:scared1:

If you have been reading my reports for the past several years you may remember reading about our trip in 2009 as I included it as a "mini-TR". It was titled "The Crazy Step-Mother Chronicles". I didn't write about last years trip as I didn't have a TR at the time and I am too afraid of the Community Board to post anything there! I might post about this trip here within this TR when we get back or I might create a thread on Canadian boards and provide you guys with the link. What do you think would be best?

Originally this trip was going to have us staying in BC and just doing hikes that were relatively close to where Dad lives like we have done the past two years (max three hour drive away). Well, two days ago we found out that our Great Aunt Mary is going to be coming for a visit. Dad switched up our plans and we are now going to be spending 4 days in Banff! We will be picking up Great Aunt Mary at Lake Louise where she will be dropped off by some distant cousins of ours who are driving her all the way from Saskatchewan! We haven't seen our Great Aunt Mary since our move to Virginia Beach back in 1996! Erich was so young then that he doesn't even remember her. She is in her 90's but is still very independent. She lives alone in her own home that she has lived in her whole married life and still shovels her own driveway!

We are going to be spending three nights camping at the Lake Louise campground. I have never been camping before so we will see how that goes! My co-workers laughed today when I told them the new plans. They said the closest they can see me coming to "roughing it" is staying at a Holiday Inn. They predict that I will have enough of camping after one night and will swiftly retreat to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise after the first night. Rooms start at $300 a night! The best part about the days we will be spending in Banff? The stepmonster won't be coming! Since we will be driving back with Aunt Mary there wouldn't be enough room in the car for her so she is staying home. :woohoo:

We will be hiking trails in the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake region. I have been wanting to see these lakes in person for years. The last time I was in Banff was back in 1996 during that move to Virginia Beach and I do not really remember it all that well as we only drove through the area. Any visits earlier than that I do not remember. I have been looking at pictures for years and I am so happy we are finally going! I just wish I had more notice so I could have trained a bit better for the challenging hikes! Thank goodness we are going towards the end of our trip so I will have "practice" hikes to get me in a bit better condition before we hit the Rockies! I am sure the hikes will still be hard for me but the pain will be worth it to see all that beauty!

The following three pictures are borrowed from photobucket:

I was looking at pictures of the Canadian National Parks tonight and found this guys wonderful photos of the Canadian Rockies. They made me really excited for the trip! I hope that one day I can take pictures like this!

What else am I looking forward to during the trip? Well, seeing my Dad and Grandma of course and I can't forget our wonderful puppy dog Marcus! He won't be a puppy anymore though, hopefully he is still the same happy and playful dog we saw last summer.

Visiting some wineries in the Okanagan Valley (where my dad lives), maybe another epic high-risk Uno game?

Some neighbourhood walks. This is the hillside that my dad's house is built on, isn't it beautiful?

Alek and Erich will of course be up to their usual hijinks. They are not reserved solely for WDW!

Hopefully I fare better this year in regards to mosquitoes. We went out in June last year and I think I was a blood donor to the entire mosquito population of the entire Okanagan Valley! I had over 50 bites on one arm!

Anyways, I'm not sure how often I will get to update while we are gone since Dad tends to keep us fairly occupied. I plan on getting one more trip report update out tomorrow night before we leave (can't leave you in suspense on whether or not we saw Slim!). Hopefully I'll be able to get an update or two in while we are gone.
