Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

They try their best. ;)

I knew my co-workers would be proud. Several years ago my department made international news for helping out a duck family on campus. It was in tons of newspapers and we got "fan" letters and e-mails from around the world. It was very funny, we keep a portfolio with the original news clipping and all the feedback we got.

I found some pictures of the 2004 duck rescue

Aw!!! Good for you to rescue those cute little ducks!!! I always get INFURIATED when kids chase animals! My two little boys always are so tempted. Usually we can stop them before they make it more than a few steps. Sophie and I must look like lunatics yelling at them to STOP!!!!!!!!! I wonder if it makes them feel powerful? :confused3.

Love the pictures from the Seas. That's cool the dolphins were so active. I agree, the eels are kind of creepy.

Wow, been away a few days and missed three updates!! You are flying with this TR. All caught up again!

May 13th continued

Those of you who guessed that we headed to Aloha Isle for some yummy cold refreshments after meeting Aladdin and Jasmine were correct!

I decided to try out the Dole Whip Float this time as I usually just get the regular Dole Whip.
Need to make sure I get a list together of things I plan to do this trip, and make sure getting my first Dole Whip is on it!!!

I found Alek and Erich again as I crossed the street to where the confectionary and hat shop are located. They were playing checkers! That's right, they traveled all the way to Florida and bought WDW tickets so they could play a game of checkers on Main St.
That's okay, my boys spend lots of their time in Community Hall playing video games! I could just buy them a couple of new games, let them stay home and play them all day, and save LOTS of money........ :sad2:
I watched as other park guests went by, some in interesting outfits...

IMG_1043.jpg
What all the "in crowd" is wearing at the parks these days!!!

Oh look, it is my soon to be sister-in-law!
:rotfl2:

As we were leaving we saw that the wait time for Mickey in his new location was only 10 minutes so we got in line. The area is themed for Magician Mickey aka Mickey the Magnificent!
This looks really cool! Might have to give it a visit this trip.

May 13th continuedWe all ordered water to drink except for Mom who ordered a Pina Colava which I took a sip of. Yum!
I liked being the first ADR for the night, it meant we got to the buffet before it had been picked over. I filled my plate with Mickey ravioli, parmesan mashed potatoes, Mickey Macaroni and Cheese, broccoli, cheese cubes and some melon.
I'm guessing from your selections you don't like cheese.......... :rolleyes1

Back at the hotel Alek and Erich changed into their swimsuits and I found The CW on the tv. I was happy to be back in the room by 8pm that night as one of my favourite shows was having its 2-hour series finale that night after ten years on television. That's right, I am a die hard Smallville fan, tease me if you want but I love it! Tom Welling and Erica Durance are the best Clark Kent and Lois Lane in my opinion. Alek and Erich tease me about the show all the time but they were nice enough to go to the pool for two hours while it was on so I could watch in peace, I probably would have killed them if they had talked/mocked the show the whole time.
We used to try and watch Smallville, but got too far behind. Guess I will have to eventually buy the DVDs so I can get all caught up.

Jo you are still the bestest!!! I have a ptr going for my August family trip and joint one for my Free trip in October !!!I need you to defend me from those BOYS!!!!:lmao:They don't believe I am sweet and innocent !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Wow Rosie, you have posted this on so many TR threads now I think YOU are starting to believe it!!! (but I bet you're the only one.......)

 I always feel bad about asking for things like that as I am sure it annoys the CM's.
He's a Donald fan! You think he worries about annoying people...... :rolleyes1

May 14th continuedMom just held the towel behind them without touching them and slowly herded them toward a place where it would be easy for them to reunite. The plan worked splendidly and mother and babies were reunited. Hurray!
Great job Beth!!! Glad you took the time to help them out!

I feel like we spent a good chunk of time looking at all the aquariums. After we were done we meandered our way through the park towards the start of the World Showcase admiring the flowers and sand sculpture as we passed through.
Love the sand sculptures! Is this something new, or have I once again just been very poor at observing my surroundings at Disney???

Campus - After monitoring the progress of a mother duck and her eggs, Security became aware the eggs had hatched and the group was looking for a way out of the high cement planter they found themselves in.

Staff put out some water for the ducklings and set up a ramp to assist in their descent from the planter. At about 5:20 pm the mother and (some of) the ducklings used the ramp to exit the planter and made their way towards the waterfront.

duck family being escorted off campus by securitySince they would have to cross some busy roadways during the trek, Security and other University staff assisted the gaggle as they meandered towards the lake and eventually entered the water at 6:20 pm.

June 1 - The ... newspaper featured a story about the duck family escort and other animals who have interacted with our department. (\

It bothers me as well, I think kids see them as "toys" and so many parents don't bother to correct them.

Love the pictures from the Seas. That's cool the dolphins were so active. I agree, the eels are kind of creepy.

I love dolphins. I would love to do one of those dolphin swims but they are so expensive!

Wow, been away a few days and missed three updates!! You are flying with this TR. All caught up again!

I know, I should probably slow down but I have no idea how much time I will have to update once school starts. :sad2:

Need to make sure I get a list together of things I plan to do this trip, and make sure getting my first Dole Whip is on it!!!

Never had a Dole Whip! I like getting them from the Poly as you get to fill the cup yourself so you can control how much you get. :rolleyes1

I'm guessing from your selections you don't like cheese.......... :rolleyes1

Nope, not at all, can't stand it. ;)

:lmao:

Love the sand sculptures! Is this something new, or have I once again just been very poor at observing my surroundings at Disney???

I think they do it every year for the Flower and Garden Festival or at least they have ever since Disney Nature started to release movies.

Great job on the duck rescue! and the Soarin video was pretty funny; we have never been there for rope drop so we hadn't seen that before.

I have to say that I'm very glad that y'all took the time to help the ducks! There's nothing silly about it at all, and I'm glad you took the time to include it in your report!! Poor little fellas!!

So proud you helped those baby ducklings! People say you need to let Mother Nature take it's course but sometimes you just have to intervene. It'd be cruel to just ignore them! I love the other narrative from emmaca and her ducklings adventure :rotfl2: It still amazes me how these tiny creatures will bring traffic to a halt when they cross the street but when a pedestrian tries to cross a busy intersection, you'd be lucky if these drivers even see you! I love Epcot during F&GF. It's so photogenic with all the colours.

Awwwww... you helped the little ducklings! So sweet. The video of them altogether was adorable. Good work guys :thumbsup2 Love the pictures from The Seas, I spent so much time in the aquarium area last time I was there, it's so cool. The video of the dolphins was very fun to watch, but the poor lonely dolphin, I felt so bad. :( Great pictures of the Sand Sculptures and flowers! (: Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

You are a family of duck heroes! That was very nice of you to help out that adorable family of ducks.

I could watch those aquariums for hours!

Just adding on to say that it makes me so happy that you guys stopped to help the ducks! That was awesome. And I'd never heard of the sand sculptures before. Flower and Garden was tenchnically over while we were there, though some of the topiaries were still up. The sand sculptures may have been gone by that time, I guess.

That's wonderful that you helped the ducks!! You did the right thing...I agree, you have to intervene with nature in certain circumstances!!!

Yeah, the Soarin' crowd is pretty crazy although people don't get as worked up about it as they do with Toy Story!

We couldn't ignore them, I would have wondered for the whole trip what had happened to them if we had just passed by.

Mom actually stole those photos and narrative from my department's website. She was so proud for having tracked it down. I made her go back and edit her post though as she included the name of the department which reveals where I work, if I had wanted that I would have posted a link myself! There is lots I am willing to share on the internet but not the exact location of where I live, work and go to school! Some of you know that info already but I don't like to have it out there for all to see, call me paranoid.

I love Epcot and it is even more beautiful during the festival.

Yeah, I wonder why that one dolphin was separated from the other two, seemed cruel!

You are a family of duck heroes! That was very nice of you to help out that adorable family of ducks.

I could watch those aquariums for hours!

I can't resist an animal in need! I once saw a family cat stuck on the roof of a house in my neighbourhood during the winter. No idea how it got up there but it was clearly in distress trying to get down. It kept clawing at upstairs windows and looking over the roof but it was too far to jump. I tried knocking on the door to let the family know that their cat was stuck but nobody was home. I had to leave to go to work though so I called up Mom and made her tell the family once they got home so they could rescue the poor thing before it froze to death. :thumbsup2

Thanks on the ducks, it made our day helping them out and they were so cute!

Thanks! I knew we couldn't just walk away. I'm glad that we were able to find a way to help them. :goodvibes

I have a very sad similar story involving ducklings and a storm drain, but I won't go into it.

I just want to say thank you. Your pictures of CSR convinced my wife to stay there, and we just booked our next trip, 45 days from now. Surprisingly, we're not doing bad with ADRs, either!

I figured if we were going to stay in a moderate again, it'd be CSR because of the queen beds. Your pics helped seal the deal. Thanks!

Glad Chef Mickey's went well for you! we had a turtle checker too but ours was at 50's.

Your mom was very resourceful. it was sweet of you to help them out:thumbsup2

We didn't have a bad meal the whole trip! Chef Mickey's is expensive so I doubt it will be an every trip meal but I would not say no to going there again.

Loved the duckie rescue! I always feel bad for them ducks when kids chase them. :guilty: My kids are scared of the ducks, so they don't chase them. :lmao:

Poor little dolphin... maybe he was in a timeout? :confused3
